We've all heard the jokes about how hard it is to find an employee at Home Depot. Not here. I don't know if it's because I'm a helpless women, but with the exception of one employee (whom I'm not sure even still works there), everyone seems to think I'm a complete idiot. Every aisle, an Orange Apron is asking to help, even if I'm going briskly past with an "I know exactly where I'm going" attiude, or am actually in the process of taking the item down from the shelf. If you're carrying something heavy and walk right past the carts (because we don't need no stinking carts), the Aprons kindly point out the carts and ask if you need help with getting one. Do they think we're blind or stupid? Also, if you buy an appliance - even if it is not the floor model - check to see if the box has been opened. Ours had the entire bottom cut off and reattached with cable ties, and when we got it home, pieces were missing. Retuning it was a whole... thing, and one of the Aprons had the brilliant idea to open another box and take the pieces we needed (which is why I suspect ours was missing pieces in the first place). But it's closer to town than Lowe's and it usually does have what you need at as decent a price as you're going to get anywhere around here. So there's that. read more

I walked in today and I asked and described to three employees... Do you have any of those metal laundry/grocery carts... That are about this tall and about this narrow (as I explained with my hands)... This man tell me yes, Follow me.... He takes me out to Lawn and Garden and plants and walks me over to a PLASTIC WHEELBARROW!! The Oneonta Home Depot is the most Useless store on the planet... What a total disgrace. read more

Here's a fun story. I bought all new kitchen appliances - not a small investment. They were delivered a week later, stove and dishwasher were BOTH dented. Stove dent wouldn't show, so I took it and the company offered $100 off on that. They said they'd replace the dishwasher. A second weeks goes by - we waited around during that four hour window they can't do better than, and they brought a STOVE. So truck left with the stove. We still had the dented dishwasher. Another week, I hear nothing. Then I call. "Oh, it's coming in three days," I am told. No one told me. "And it's between 3 and 7 PM." In the dark. In a house I don't live in yet. I said no, and they said call us again in two days and we'll have a new day and time for you. "Daylight hours," I said. "No problem," I was told. Two days later I call and delivery is between 7 AM and 11 AM. I call delivery - 7 AM is insane - I live half an hour away from this house. The Home Depot person I call is sympathetic, but there's no other option. She tells me to call after delivery and maybe there can be some sort of refund for the trouble this has been. So I get up before the sun, drive to an empty house, and wait. I finally get it, and they take the old one away. I email the company to tell them I want some sort of satisfaction for this mess, and they offer me a GIFT card. Like I'm going to buy more stuff there. I am still waiting to see how this works out, but this has more than confirmed my low opinion of Home Depot, or Home Disappointment, as a contractor I know has dubbed it. True indeed. read more

The freezer in my refrigerator/freezer started to act erratic. You never realize the value of the food stored in a refrigerator. Since the problem was the loss of refrigerant by a leak somewhere, and the internal icemaker not working, the anticipated cost made me consider getting a new refrigerator. It would be nice to say that I went to the CBD of my community to find an appliance dealer. But that doesn't exist, so the choices are limited to a big box store or an hour travel. I suggest reviewing Consumer Reports for guidance. I did my Net research first. I opted for Home Depot. I looked at many models and decided upon one that was highly rated, energy efficient qualifying for a NYS rebate. I paid for it on a Weds and the cost of delivery and removing the old one very reasonable. Oneonta Home Depot said it could be delivered on Sat. between 10 AM and 2PM. Well to my happy surprise, I got a call at 945 AM that the delivery team would be at my home at 10 AM. They did a great job of removing my old, wounded refrigerator and put the new one in its place. It's nice to have a store that sells appliances, with a year warranty on parts and labor and actually does what it says. I like that Home Depot also sent me an email of my invoice and how to prepare for the delivery. read more

We ordered a dishwasher to be delivered to our home by Techno. We waited from 11AM with the delivery time changing several times. A half hour before the delivery I get a text that the delivery was changed to the next week. Not even a phone call. I canceled the purchase and will never order something to be delivered from them. Very inconsiderate and no way to do business. read more

Ordered fencing and supplies. They "deferred" the sale to a different HD It did arrive however an important item was not there. I was told to call the other store. Phones were "out of order". Called Oneonta store back. A young man said before I could speak " youspoke with spoke wth my colleague " I tried to explain that the missitem was not on the other store's list and that the coll had told me earlier that it "was still on this store's list. However he refused to let me finish my sentence. Kept interrupting before I could explain. I asked him to please let me finish to which he confused to talk over me. Saying he was "very busy". It took four times longer to get him to finally check for me. He wanted his own time acting like this. Extremely unprofessional. He finally decided to check after causing all this irritation. and was able to track down the item. All of this could have been avoided if he had just let me finish a sentence. My order was for over $1200. I will NEVER spend this much at this store again. read more

I've never been to a Home Depot this terrible. The customer service reps are rude and really don't want to be there. I own a fiber optic construction company and constantly send my guys to Home Depot's across the country. I had to return a few things and pick up a couple drills for new guys. I tried to return a few things my guys had purchased on their company credit cards which I don't have an exact replica of each card so they first tried to say the tool belt I was returning wasn't in their system and that guy just walked away and another guy stepped in scanned my other things and basically told me I needed their company card to return the tool belt. So first HD employee lies to me when I know very well the guys bought the belt there it was still in the plastic but the first employee opened it to verify it "wasn't in their system". I went to the shelf and got the exact same one and brought it to them and then they said I needed my employees card. Regardless I'm rethinking using Home Depot especially in the North. read more

I went into the Oneonta Home Depot on 20 May they were having a memorial day sale and I wanted to get a new barbecue for my house. They had a special that stated any girls over $399 would be free assembly and delivery so I placed my order and it gets canceled the first time then the second time and the third time I contact the store livid because it's over a week after I placed the order and they keep rescheduling the barbecue without even notifying me only an email. I contacted the store requesting to speak to the supervisor Jim and asking to leave my phone number so he can contact me. I know Jim handles quite a bit in the store and yet they refused giving the phone to Malcolm, who then says he will have the delivery to me on Saturday, 1 June on Friday to confirm that The delivery will be made on that Saturday the person in the delivery department states that it will be on Saturday by 3:45 PM and after waiting home all day and then calling Home Depot at 4:30 P.m. I Was told It has been rescheduled for the sixth. I at that point im furious. Malcolm gets on the phone and tells me that they were very busy and they didn't have time to bring me my barbecue. I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars. In this Home Depot and I will never shop in your store again you have just lost a customer for business. I have contacted corporate who said that they would file the complaint with the district manager and I hope they do so. read more

Horrible experience ! Paid for my order last week and was told it would be in at noon today. It is printed on my receipt and in an email from Home Depot. At first I was told I came the wrong day I should've came in June something. WTF. I then produced the email to show my date. I was then told she would have someone pick my order. Not true. I was then told it won't be in until sometime tonight. I asked whose fault for the mix up and told I don't know. Well I know it's not my fault. Had to burn time off from work to pick up my order that never arrived. read more

The people are nice when you are spending money, then it all goes wrong. 1. Appliances delivered late, never called to say they weren't coming. 2. Fridge microwave and stove arrived damaged. Stove still not replaced or repaired 3 weeks later. 3. Told custom shades were done and ready to install. When installer finally available two weeks later discovered half hadn't arrived and two were wrong size despite Paying for custom measuring service. Now due to materials shortage won't have replacement for one additional MONTH 4. Customer service terrible. Pleanty of "oh, yeah, that's not usually what happens". No compensation, no apology, just more talk that doesn't materialize. If I don't call them, they never follow up with me. My dream home has a dented stove and garbage bags on windows. Maybe lowes is better, not many options out here, I hate you forever Home Depot. read more

After walking around for a couple minutes I counted about 20 employees. This was just in the garden center and in the front of the store. This must be why marigolds are so expensive. The garden department in general is lack luster. read more

Stopped in on a busy Saturday morning at the start of spring to buy a lawn tractor, quickly found the one I was looking for and as an employee walked by and asked if I needed any help I was quickly shuffled to a lady who worked in Lawn and Garden who passed me on to a pair of older gentlemen who help with the tractors. Less than 10 minutes later I had my new tractor loaded on my trailer and I was on my way to do some mowing. read more
