The waves weren't as big and dramatic as they could get but it was still very cool to see the ocean rolling so much. Normally we go when it's nice and tranquil but we finally took it in with a storm coming in to boot along with the tides which created a cool but really intense experience. The wind was very strong and it was raining so staying outside for a long time wasn't really an option. Still it was really a fun experience and this sandy beach is normally a great place to go to in the summer!

Be aware please, there are serious undercurrents. I actually got swept up in one there and I am a seriously good swimmer. I had to be rescued. And I truly thought I was gonna die. Here's what the problem was folks: I was not wearing my life jacket what an idiot! There are several fun things you can do at this beach: If you have a volleyball net and Legs nobody is going to stop you from having fun doing volleyball. There's a really great reason for this there is a lot of beach! Truly nobody gets crowded there at least from what I've seen. There's plenty of people on the beach but not 5 feet away from you. I just want to touch back on the nickname Washaway beach: it's a beach that's been washing away and has taken mobile homes stick built homes entire neighborhoods in fact. But there is a structural engineer that was able to put a stop on it. You can look it up just look up structural engineer for Washaway beach. Here's something you may not know I find it delightful though. You can drive on the beach because it's an actual highway! The drivers are extremely careful don't even worry about that but the best part about it is you can park where you want to set up your stuff! Now don't tell your parents this: but it is the best place in the world that I have been to for kite flying! They also have a clamming season and they're delicious.

There is a parking lot with restrooms and picnic tables before you hike up the small hill to reach the beach. Beautiful and with the loud waves, we had to shout while standing next to each other. On the coast with some winding little trails under the trees and through the sand, the day use area and one row of campground sites were open. We decided to take the trails on a short leg-stretcher just to see what Twin Harbors was all about. Up and over the sandy dunes and around muddy patches we weaved for a mile or so, and back through the campground to the van. The beaches were empty, a few campers staying overnight, and a handful of cars coming and going from day use. It felt pretty peaceful at Twin Harbors, we would've happily grabbed a site for a night if we weren't heading home. Probably wouldn't be more to do here for more than one night, but it's a low-key spot for a stopover or picnic.

They'd recently mowed the paths and next to the boardwalk, however a little snake made his way up onto the boardwalk to sun. He stayed put so we could sneak past, but you could tell the growth under the platform was high and pushing up through the boards making it easy for him to come up from below. The rest of the path was uneventful. A lot of robins, but no migration activity or anything of significance to view at this time. Decently large gravel lot at the trailhead, as well as a vault toilet.

The parking lot isn't far from the beach, but you walk down a sandy path which my 81 year old mom managed, but I'm worried about the walk back. It's sunny but cold. It was really hard to put a blanket down because the wind kept threatening to carry it away. This would be great on another day, but I don't know if it's ever not windy.

We loved watching jellyfish and seeing Sea Lions right off the dock! We love Half-Moon Beach for the waves, the rock-hunting and how natural it is. But you will not regret coming here (especially if you were considering going to Ocean Shores!) The 18 miles of sandy beaches that stretch from Westport to Tokeland is otherwise known as the South Beach is everything you would want in a Pacific Northwest Beach. Whether you're looking for a fishing adventure, beautiful beaches, surfing, kite flying, whale watching, crabbing, or just relaxing, the South Beach is the place to be. In the summer, you can beat it to beat the heat. It's not overdeveloped, in fact its quite understated. The marina district has a nice mixture of upscale restaurants (we got our first sushi restaurant, yay!) and hole-in-the-wall diners. Fishing is still a very important part of the community, and if you've ever wanted to try a fishing charter, you can do that from July 1 until the quotas are met for less than a round of drinks in downtown Seattle. Surfing is huge here, at Westhaven State Park and Half Moon Bay. There are 2 surf shops in town (Steepwater Surf Shop, and The Surf Shop) that can outfit you with a wetsuit and a board for under $50. A lesson will cost a little more, but not by much. Bikes and paddleboats are available for rent down on the water. Kites can be purchased for just a few dollars and can keep your kids busy for hours. In the spring and fall, watch the WDFW to see when the beaches are open for clamming. During crab season, you can drop your crab pots right off of the fisherman's boardwalk - no boats required. Starting in September, the salmon that were released by the local high school class start to return to the Marina, and you can fish right off the boardwalk and participate in the Salmon Derby. There is all kinds of old fashioned fun here. It's perfect for a romantic getaway or a family trip. Day trips and overnighters. There is everything from campgrounds to low budget motels, to luxury condos. All only 2 hours from Sea Tac!"

Must do, climb the tower, crab fish off any of the floats, enjoy the sun from the deck of your boat! And no trip to Westport is complete without a visit to the Seafood connection on float 8 slip G. I stayed here for a week and had a great time. I did not want to go home. Pick your times to cross the bar and you will be fine. We will see y'all again!

The first day, we checked out the Fisherman's Boardwalk and crabbed/fished for over 7 hours. Caught a few Sea bass and limited out on Dungeness Crab! It was a pretty enjoyable day. Our second and third days were not as good because the weather was a bit colder, cloudy and very windy. Took a while to get our limit of crabs, but had no such luck getting the fish we wanted. Overall, we all had a whole lot of fun on our 3-day trip to Westport, WA! Got an ample amount of Dungeness Crab to take home and some Sea bass as well. Definitely needed a Vacay away from home and also from work. Even a short trip like this was beneficial to relax and rejuvenate ourselves.

Yes their is sand at each site as it is located on the coast. You can hear the ocean from the park. It is a very short 1.9 mile drive to get to the beach access in either direction. The staff is amazing, the best host I have ever met at any park. The restrooms are the cleanest you will find at any RV park or any where in the surrounding area.. They have the cutest cabins you can rent. There are ones with restroom and some without. As long as you realize that Kenanna is not a 5 star hotel it is a camp ground and their cabins are perfect for camping in. If you are heading to the Great Pacific Northwest and are looking for a place to park your Rv for a weekend or looking to rent cute cabin in one of the most beautiful settings i have ever seen an RV park be in, or you are looking to tent camp, Kenanna is hands down the best park you could pick here on this coastline.. It is quite, beautiful, peaceful place and every single person I met while I was there was so nice and welcoming. It was one of my best experiences ever taking our Rv out for on an adventure. .

There were a lot of run down rv's that people lived in full time. When we arrived there were a lot of empty spots but they parked us next to an rv with Two dogs, 3 kids and a dad that was screaming profanity at his kids. It made my husband so uncomfortable that we asked for a two night refund so we could go elsewhere to enjoy our little weekend beach getaway. They would not refund us any money. Why they don't have vacationers separated from those that live in their trailers is beyond me. This was the first RV park that we have ever asked for a refund and left early. Absolutely disgraceful. We will never go back and highly suggest others find a different place to camp.
