Dr Lim is a horrible optometrist. She sold me expensive glasses that I didn't need and refused to fix the problem. She did not listen and created unnecessary types of lenses. Watch out for your next eye exam, check with the doctor after receiving your new glasses or contact lenses to ensure the prescription was done right. Unfortunately, I didn't find out that my prescription was not accurate when I went for my half year diabetes eye exam to find out that I can't see well with left eye wearing my contact lenses. I did contact the office to review my prescription but I was told that I will pay for the visit even though they didn't do go job for my prescription. Poor quality of the services, doctor not experience enough to wright the correct prescription. Just watch out and be sure to check back with the doctor when you get the new glasses or contact lenses read more

I've been meaning to get glasses to help with night driving and was in the shopping center so figured I would pop in to try on a couple frames. The woman at the desk was extremely rude and told me I had to have an appointment to try on frames. I wanted to support a local business versus Costco where I had my previous optometrist appointment. Looks like I will be going back to Costco. Per other reviews, it looks like other people have had issues with the attitude of the woman behind the desk. Very unfortunate. read more

Unfortunately, my experience with this office and Optometrist was not a good one. Firstly, I wrote a formal complaint to VSP as a result of unprofessional behavior I experienced with one of her Opticians. Secondly, Dr. Lim did not provide me with accurate distance, computer and reading prescriptions (2 times on distance and reading and 3 times on computer). I spent $450+ on frames and lenses and several weeks waiting for her lab to complete my orders - 3 times! July - September! When I returned to Dr. Lim for a third recheck on my computer and distance glasses, I was disappointed to hear her say "this is the last time I will check your vision and redo your glasses." I thought this statement was unprofessional and exhibited a lack of responsibility on her part. After receiving the 3rd redo, the prescriptions were still not correct and I knew I couldn't return to this office. I contacted VSP to again relay my experience with this Provider. VSP sent me to a different Optometrist for a 2nd opinion, and they provided a credit back into my benefits to cover the redo of my glasses, if needed. The 2nd opinion yielded 3 completely different prescriptions! My glasses were reworked by a different lab and the prescriptions are now perfect! Best of all, there was no additional cost to me. It is my opinion, based on my experience, this Doctor didn't have the expertise to help me with my vision needs. I cannot recommend Seaside Eyecare Optometry! read more

I have been going to Dr Lim for at least 6 years. Great selection of eyewear. Thursdays they are open until 7pm, so nice for those of us who work during the week. I always feel like my exam with Dr Lim is very personal and her recommendations are tailored to me. She talked to me about LASIK and actually recommended I defer it for a few years due to my age and prescription. I was surprised because I didn't know enough about LASIK to know that it is not always recommended; she could have sold me on it and I wouldn't have been any wiser. Since I've been a customer for so long, I have seen workers come and go, but everyone is always friendly and makes the entire experience easy. I will always go here for glasses and contacts. read more

I have to admit I am very surprised by all the 5 star ratings. I went in for an annual exam and new glasses, to start with the eye exam was odd. Dr Lim would say what looks better this or this - but go so fast I couldn't even focus on one before showing me another screen. The entire exam was that fast so I shouldn't have been surprised when my glasses came back and I couldn't stand to wear them because they were too strong. I could see better using my readers I got 3 years ago. I went in for an adjustment in the prescription but that exam was the same fast style. I now have a very expensive pair of glasses I can't use because they are way to strong making everything blurry. I can see with the readers portion but it is also stronger than I need and makes my eyes hurt if I wear them too long. I did like Carly in the front office she helped me pick out frames and was very helpful. Looks like many people have had a positive experience, unfortunately I did not. read more

I went here for the first time, the staff is so helpful and genuine. Maria helped me get checked in and helped make sure my insurance was good. Dr Lim was quick and efficient. After I was done Leah helped me find my perfect pair of glasses. She was so patient and let me try of different pairs and colors. I have been wearing glasses for over 10 years and this has been by far the easiest process for me. I wish I could give more than a 5 stars read more

It is very unfortunate that I have to give a one-star review to what appears to be a five-star business. However, imagine that you called one week in advance to make an appointment for your first ever visit to your new doctor at 8:30am on a Saturday. When you arrive there on Saturday, and on time, you are told that there was never an appointment for you in the system, and that nothing really can done about it other than a thousand apologies. Very upsetting! It also seems that I was the first one who came through the door that morning, so whoever else who took my appointment was late! So, why not tell them that their appointment is not in the system?! No matter how much I would like to try to come back here and experience their "professional" service and "family-like" treatment, I do not think this location will work for me. read more

Dr. Lim and her wonderful staff were able to fit us in the same day I called. They helped my 5 year old daughter and me with an eye exam. I was especially impressed with how patient and good they were with my little girl. Kids are inquisitive and talk a lot. They explained the process in a way that made sense and turned the experience into a fun one for both of us. Dr. Lim generously offered a military discount when I explained my husband is a Wounded Warrior and our family is on a very tight budget. I've lived in San Clemente for over 29 years and had experienced other local optometrists - Seaside Eyecare was the best experience I've had. Dr. Lim's demeanor is gentle and kind. She has the perfect personality to help my husband with his eyecare needs. Since returning from Iraq, doctors and medical procedures have often become triggers for anxiety and stress. Pathetic group of people. The Dr. is a joke. The staff is even worse. Everyone had an attitude, literally all 3 people were angry at life. Not a single pleasant person in that office. Eyewear came in 5 weeks after ordering and the perscription was wrong. The staff was bothered that I asked for it to be corrected. I would never ever return to these miserable people. I had LASIK done about 15 years ago. (One of the better decisions I made in my life.) I waited and waited to get my eyes checked because I am seeing clearly now so why should I??? Well, except for the fact that I was having difficult time reading menus in the dimly lit restaurants, which made me nervous... other than that my eyes are doing great. Dr. Lim is great. She assured me that this is normal and told me that my eyes are doing fine. She took her time with me. When some test results did not look right to her, she took her time and re-did those. I've been going to Dr. Lim for years and have found her to be knowledgeable and genuine in regards to my contact needs, clearly explaining trade offs for different prescription options, and on more than 1 occasion, suggesting I try out a trial pair prior to purchasing as their are several ways to address my contact vision needs. Clearly different from other experiences where optometrists wanted to make the sale knowing I may go order elsewhere. Admittedly, I have not purchased glasses there, not because of the selection, but still using and older pair which probably need updating. I've looked at their glasses several times and what I like is there was no one 'hovering over me telling me how great they look simply trying to make the sale. I'll keep going to Seaside for sure. Dr. Lim is knowledgeable, sincere and dedicated to her profession. That's more important to me. For valuing friendly first as criteria, make sure you look at the pedigree on the wall. Honestly, the people that work in this office are the nicest that I've ever experienced. The customer service is genuine and outstanding. They really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and taken care of. The doctor educated and so sweet. I had a very horrible, multi-faceted experience here starting with poor service/treatment throughout the exam and fitting process and ending with a fraudulent claim to my insurance on their end. I was fit with a brand/type of contacts that they recommended would be best for me without a discussion of what I wanted or was willing to pay. Of course, the brand they fit me was the more expensive of the two-tier fitting options. Afterwards, they were very pushy to get me to order contacts that day even though it is normal practice to come back for a follow up. When I found out what the contacts were going to cost out of pocket I was shocked, and told them I wasn't looking to pay that kind or money out of pocket for the contacts. They reimbursed me for the fitting and fit me with a new pair that was in my insurance formulary. I thought this was a nice gesture, however they treated me like I was a huge nuisance and made me feel very uncomfortable while doing so. This was frustrating because I had been very polite and reserved regarding the matter. Once again I was pushed to order the new contact brand that day. This time the catch was they couldn't tell me exactly how many months supply my insurance covered, just that it was in my formulary. I was given vague estimates of something like 6 or 9 months. I insisted on a follow up and during the follow up asked for a new brand of contacts because I was uncomfortable in the previous brand. Once again, I was treated like a nuisance for wanting a brand of contacts that suited my comfort and insurance budget. In their signature style, for the 3rd time, I was pressed to order contacts that day even though I hadn't been given adequate time to test out the fit and prescription. I declined to order that day and called about a week later to get my prescriptions sent to me so I could order elsewhere. Several weeks later, after filling out reimbursement paperwork for my insurance so that I could receive the allowance for the contacts I ordered and paid for out of pocket, I was denied with the reason being I had used all my benefits for the year. Upon an hour long interaction with my insurance over the phone, I learned that Seaside Optometry submit for payment from my insurance as if I had ordered contacts from them. Bottom line: they make it obvious that their main concern is making money and will even make fraudulent claims to do so. read more

I come to Dr Lim because I work in the same plaza and i am able to get an appointment quickly, usually the day after I call. She is very warm, sweet, friendly, and knows the human eye very well. I have very bad vision and have problems with one eye in particular and she takes extra care in my exams to make sure my eye condition is not worsening. The girls in the front office are very nice and know what they are doing when it comes to insurance billing. When I place am older for contacts, they arrive within 2 days and they inform me right away. This is a great eye doctor for people who live or work in the capo beach area. read more

nope, no way. the whole experience was dreadful. doctor Lim rushed me thru the exam,she did not want to take much time to explain anything. she seems arrogant and angry with her job. not happy to help at all. talking fast and doing me some favor to be there. i dont get it. she hires horrible help. they probably hate it there but they were rude and nasty also. one front desk girl was not too happy to be there,totally miserable and the other one behind the glasses table was worse snapping at me. i felt the bad energy right away when i walked in and i left the same way. they used have the nicest lady working there she was perky happy and so helpful. boy its downhill now. and covid is in full swing in there. they talk down to you like your carrying germs. its disgusting and im going to tell my insurance company about them and they need to be reported.you will never see me back in there again. read more
