Griffin has amazing Optometrists, plus I can't say enough about Jimmy and what a kind man he is. But that is where I have to stop complimenting this office. To get to these wonderful people you have to deal with the incompetent front office. My wife was given voicemail reminder of her appt @ 10:30 she arrived in the parking lot at 10:15 and received a call from Jessica stating that her appointment was canceled due to her being late. We live in Oceanside and drive 30 miles to this office. The fact that she was cancelled 15 minutes before her appointment has cost Griffin 3 patients, my wife, my daughter, and myself just for being inconsiderate. This is not the first time with Jessica, just the worse time. You can see in other reviews how rude she is to people. I'm sure the owners have no idea how many customers have left due to her. They have lost 3 in this review alone. We have found a new provider and are looking forward to better customer service when it comes to eye care. Never going back to griffin again! read more

I highly recommend Griffin Optemetric, they have a wonderful team. I'd been working with rusty metal, and used a leaf blower to clean things up. The next morning around 4am my left eye was hurting so bad it woke me up. I went to the bathroom sink to irrigate thinking it was an eyelash. Upon irration I experienced a searing burning pain so uncomfortable, I could not relieve it open or closed. I called Griffin Optimetric when they opened and they made certain to fit me in that morning. I was treated by Dr. Callister who was kind, knowledgeable and empathic. He rendered immediate relief bh numbing my eye temporarily. I could not find the source of tge irritation bug prescribed an optic antibiotic and irrigating drops. Dr. Callister was able to see me again the following day at at Griffin Optometric in Laguna Niguel. I cannot say enough about Dr. Callister and the Griiffin Optomertric Team. I honestly felt I was losi g my eyesight to add lme kind of infection until Dr. Callister treated me at very short notice. He is a kind and experienced Optometrist who I will recommend to family and friends. Thank you Dr. Callister and the Griffin Optometry team!! You Rock ! read more

I have been a patient nearly 30 years and I was not told prior to my exam that VSP was no longer accepted and that Total Vision was dropped by VSP. The problem here is Total Vision is garbage and this practice was way better when it was not with TV. I love Dr Patrick and am sad I won't still have him as my Dr but I will not return to a company that doesn't value its patients. Had I been told ahead of time I would have saved myself a 2 hour drive and a lot of anger. It's is shady to not tell a patient at the time of making their appointment. This was a money grab pure and simple and it makes sense why VSP dropped TV and now I have too. read more

Let me start this by saying that I love my new sunglasses. The regular glasses I ended up with were just ok. The selection wasn't too extensive but glad and lucky that I found one of two pairs I loved. The cost you pay is pretty steep even with insurance coverage and discounts. The doctor and one of the ladies who helped me during the process were very nice. However some of the others in the front desk were a bit rude and dismissive, especially when I picked up my glasses. My husband also mentioned he got a call to verify his insurance and the lady on the phone was rude and sounded very annoyed. read more

I just completed my second year of getting exam, frame and lenses here. Both years, the entire team of people was very professional, warm and customer focused. Dr. Patrick Griffin, my doctor, provides a thorough exam and communicates in understandable terms. Also, he must focus on office management to have it run this smoothly. After the exam, I worked with Kristin /she did the selection and fittings with me and obviously has a lot of knowledge about this field. I make no claim to knowing much about the technical aspects of what they do. But, I did check on what components they were recommending and in doing internet searches, it seems obvious that they use top quality products. For example, they use Essilor lenses and these apparently make a difference, especially for "progressive" lenses which I now have. And they have a very good selection of frames including some of the latest, innovative ones like ZeroG. Prices seem to be in line. I checked two other retailers for the same specs, one an online discounter, and confirmed that the price was about the same at Griffin. I have no doubt that Costco, etc, can get you set up for less, although most likely not with the same products. I did not confirm this, but I have read online that Costco does not use top quality lenses and lense coatings-they use a level that is "good". I love Costco, but, I wanted to know that I was getting the best products, especially since I was getting the trickier "Progressive lenses". And I wanted patient, thorough people helping me with the fitting. There are measurements, etc. beyond just the eye prescription. It is also great when the proprietor and staff are all into what they do. Dr. Patrick Griffon was in a different pair of glasses about every time I saw him and so was Kristin. They know eye glasses here. Keep in mind that more complex prescriptions, top quality products, and getting the extras to really dial-in your vision wear can get expensive regardless of where you buy them. Titanium frames (super light) polycarbonate lenses (no scratch), the best anti-glare coatings, etc. do add up! I spend most of the day in mine, so, it mattered a lot to me to try and get it right. read more

I have been going to this practice both in San Clemente and Talega for years and am deeply disappointed and saddened by the selling techniques of the Talega front office. Last year I spent quite a bit of money on new glasses and sunglasses, upwards of $450 between several glasses and lenses. Progressive lenses were recommended for a pair of glasses and when trying them on for first time I said I was not sure about these and did not really care for them. I was told that I would get used to them and that they really are better, blah blah blah. I think I wore them a handful of time and just could not adapt so I stopped wearing them because I just did not want to pay more money for glasses again. I had spent enough. Jump to 8 mos later, I need the glasses and bring them back to Griffith and am told had I brought them in before 6 months were up I could have had them replaced for free. Yes FREE! When I asked how would I have known this I was told they don't usually advertise it but usually people come back and say they don't like. I said I didn't come back because I did not know it was an option and I did not want to spend any more money because I had already spent a fortune. I also said that they should say something to customers to let them know it's an option and that I felt taken advantage of. I had to pay $99 to have lenses changed to readers only. They didn't even try to save the customer relationship. Now that I think of it I am going to get my money back and go elsewhere. This just doesn't sit right with me. So be warned and ask every question you can think of. read more

Once again, Dr Griffin an his staff have made a difficult situation easy to swallow. I thought I was going in for dry eyes and possibly getting new wetting drops. What I found out was that my vision was not what I thought it should be and I was having a horrible time seeing at night. He helped me accept the need for glasses at night and his amazing staff found me the cutest frames. (with the help of my two girls). What I loved most was the fact that he put me in ASAP for a full exam and alloted me time to do this when it was supposed to be a quick visit. He moved his schedule aside to accommodate me. I received Lasik surgery about three years ago and approximately 6 months post surgery my vision became blurry. Long story short after spending about 2 1/2 years visiting different doctors, Dr. Griffin was able to diagnose my symptoms as dry eye and has prescribed two different eye drops (only on one now after 3 weeks) and although progress with this is measured in weeks or months and not days, I already see and feel an improvement in my eyes.
