How in the world did the person ringing him up not notice this..and the many pulled strings hanging off it. My guess is they did and choose to ignore it being he was a summer tourist. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and gave the place a call. A very heavily accented young lady told me that her boss's would call me back in about 30 minutes. After 5 hours, I called again, and this time I did get a call back with the promise of a replacement or refund next day when the owner was in the shop. So my review is based on their customer service and the quality of an item they carry. 4 for customer service 1 for quality of item

She went back to the store she bought the first sweatshirt, but they wouldn't let her return it. She was super sad, and when she came back to Beachcomber, the kind woman overheard the story and gave her the new sweatshirt for free. She is super kind and knows her products, marking them at a super duper reasonable price and choosing to sell things from companies (eg pura vita) that provide jobs to people in poverty in other countries. Everyone should stop by this store, and remember to spread the kindness that she showed my friend in your day-to-day life

I was walking around town and popped into her shop. I had my dog with me. She is only 25lbs and extremely well-behaved. She is also a certified support animal and legally, is allowed to go anywhere with me. Block has always been an extremely dog-friendly place and I've been coming here every summer for over 20 years. Nowhere did I see a sign that says dogs aren't allowed in the shop. I usually ask first anyway but I couldn't differentiate between employees and customers when I entered. She came up to me and in a very rude tone, told me "no dogs allowed." I immediately apologized and went to leave like a respectful and polite person would. Then she made a snarky comment "you can't just bring dogs anywhere." First of all, I am aware of that, thanks. I could have mentioned that she's a support animal but I didn't even bother because of the obnoxious tone this woman used with me. There's no world where I would ever give her a penny of my hard-earned money at this point. You work in a customer service based industry - in a seasonal resort town no less. Here's a tip, BE KIND! Nobody needs your basic Joanna Gaines nautical decor that badly anyway.

I came in one afternoon with my toddler and zero background in needlepoint and the ladies in this store were so helpful and accommodating. I found a lobster canvas (on the larger side) and I knew that this canvas was what I wanted to start with even though it wasn't meant for beginners. The ladies helped me pick out all the yarns needed and talked to me about the difference in materials and what goes well with what. I needed to learn how to do the basic stitches and even though my son let living their pencil jar around the store, everyone was so sweet and they took the time to teach me different options to start and finish and of course mastering the continental. The options were so cute and I am so grateful to not only the ladies working there, but all the women stitching in the back area who showed me their designs and were very encouraging. While needlepoint is an expensive hobby, they talked to me about prices and were really transparent. It didn't take long for me to find other needlepoint shops closer to home and I honestly think the level or service and options provided at other stores around Boston have not compared to the ladies at Needlepoint by the Bay.

The store is…read morebeautifully laid out and and the owner was very friendly and helpful, with lots of suggestions about the items they sold. I found at least 10 things I wanted to buy, many of which were unusual clothes that I had not seen elsewhere. Excellent quality. They have clothes (womens only, I think), plus some nice gift items like scarves, gloves and jewlery. Highly recommended.
