We were looking for some snorkel gear to entertain ourselves on our last day on Kauai and this place is the most accessible store if coming in from the Koloa Town side of town. It's right before you hit the traffic circle on the right side next to Poipu Grill. This rating isn't based on much since I have nothing to baseline prices or experience with, but they have 2 tiers of snorkel gear available: $4/$8. It depends if you want their old equipment or newer equipment. I think they have a weekly rate of course but we didn't ask since we only needed it for a few hours. They fitted us and we were out of there in 10 minutes. Really efficient. The equipment was okay. One of my fins was really bugging me so I ended up using only one but when snorkeling, who really cares. When we went to return it, again, really efficient. In and out in less than 5 minutes. Parking is the only pain as the lot is pretty narrow and there are a lot of big touristy cars sticking out all over the place. I was in Sebring/Charger hell. We didn't utilize this place for their dive trips although we will be very interested in this next time probably. I just finished my first open ocean dives here and boy did I pick the right place! Josh was an awesome dive master. He was very professional and took us on 2 awesome dives to Turtle Bluff, the General Store, and the Fish bowl. The pace was perfect and I felt that our DM did a fantastic job of keeping everyone safe and ensured that we didn't miss any cool sea creatures. Our captain, Greg took us to the best locations possible. I will definitely be recommending this dive company to all of my friends and making a return visit myself. My bf and I actually didn't use Seasport's primary services (diving, scuba, etc...), but we did stop in there to get our film developed. Despite our impatient nagging (y'know how it is when you're waiting on vacation photos!), the staff there was super chill, very kind, and got our prints done as promised. Overall a great experience. All the staff is very helpful and friendly. Their larger dive boat is comfortable and roomy. After seeing some of the other dive boats on the island, SeaSport by far had the best boat. The others were six-packs in quite old condition. Only a few improvements: Would be nice to allow buddy diving for experienced divers. Group diving is restrictive and can waste quite-a-bit of time waiting for others. Especially with larger groups. Most dive operators seem to have this issue. It would be great to have Steel 100s on-board. They have 2 or 3 Aluminum 100's but had to request a few times in-order to get them. Again, fairly standard for most dive operators to only carry Aluminum 80's, wish that would be different. Definitely snacks between dives were very basic (Granola bars and cookies). It would be great to have at least Pineapple or some other fruits. read more

Best dive shop on Kauai. Period. I have been coming to Kauai for about 10 years and have dove with many of the shops on the island and many are good, but this operation is the best by far. From customer service in the shop to boat crews and DMs, a first class operation all the way around. They have the largest dive boat on the island which means plenty of room, fresh water shower and comfortable ride, plus no matter how large the group, they have plenty of DMs on board to make sure no dive group is larger than 4 or 5 divers. On this trip we did a trip to Ni'i Hau, well worth it if you want a unique dive experience. Captain Andrew at the helm, with Cole and DMs Ryan and Jackie all made it am awesome experience. (As always) Then the next day we managed to squeeze in another set of morning dives Captain Andrew again with Mike leading or group in the water. Again awesome dives. Each day we saw an assortment of wild life, including various sharks, turtles, monk seals, rays and even an octopus or two. Many thanks to Marvin, the owner, and his entire staff. Just got scuba certified in Seattle and went to Kauai for diving! Our scheduled dive through another company was canceled, due to weather conditions, and the following day that same company was booked for diving. SO we went to Seasport Divers in Poipu to see if we could dive with them that same day and they were able to get us in. Our experience with them was great! They took us to some underwater caves where we saw eel, sting ray, frog fish, shrimp, turtles, etc. and they provided snack and water on the boat. The crew was very friendly and helpful! read more

There are a number of things that Seasport does well. We had a great time on our first dive, which lead to us signing up for more. The staff in the shop was helpful and attentive...they remember what we wanted to dive with, gave us excellent directions to Tunnels to attempt a shore dive, checked us in easily, etc. Ryan was a great DM. I feel like he had the right mix of organized and flexible, safe without being authoritarian. I really appreciated that he took us to dive Sheraton Caverns for our second dive of the morning when we all learned that our evening dive to Caverns would be cancelled due to the swell. Very professional outfit, from the reservation process all the way to the diving itself. They have the best boat on Kauai, and arguably the most knowledgeable boat captain as well. Wetsuits and computer are provided free of charge. I felt very comfortable on both of the 2-tank dive charters I booked with Seasport. The divemaster will let you stay down as long as your NDL and/or air allows, so you don't have to surface if someone else in the group is gulping down air. DMs were very familiar with the dive sites and showed us lots of interesting creatures. They also have a shop with reasonable prices - a good place to pick up gear. read more

Three of my friends and I are visiting from Arizona and California and we decided to go Scuba diving for the first time this past Thursday. Unfortunately, two of my friends got sea sick and I had massive anxiety after the first dive. However, the Captain and Kalama were both so amazing and helped us all through it and even paid special attention to me to help calm my nerves and to ensure I had the best experience possible. Seasport Divers is an excellent, professional outfit. I would highly recommend this to both newbies, and those with experience. My husband and I are in Kauai for our honeymoon, and he has been very excited to get me to warm enough waters for a dive. He is certified, and I am not. I did the "pool" session in the morning with Greg, and then we went out on the afternoon boat dive (2 tanks) with lots more people. We were again paired with Greg, and another nice couple from Canada. It was a great experience. Greg, our instructor, emphasized safety at all times. I struggled with clearing my mask at first, and he patiently stayed with me and helped me through it until I was able to do it. The afternoon dives were great. For me, it was an absolutely surreal experience to be diving like that. My husband liked it so much, he'll be going out again this weekend with them. My father and I went out on the morning dive on 7/7/2019. The current was super strong and there was a pretty healthy 10 foot swell, so we ended up doing two drift dives at Turtle Cove. Had a great time! Instructors answered all our questions and concerns, I felt safe and in good hands, and most importantly, we saw a whole bunch of turtles, sharks, and other incredible wildlife! I highly recommend Seasport Divers if you are going to dive Kauai or Niihau. I have been out with them several times over the years, one of our sons did his check-out open water dives with them, and we have always had good experiences. This trip I did dives over two days, one in the afternoon and one the next morning, and the dive leaders Josh and Cole were awesome. The captain both times was Zach, whom another reviewer very accurately described as an irascible old sea salt. Zach was great, taught us some new things about safety, and was very helpful. My out-of-town friend and I used Seasport based on the "101 Things to Do" magazine, and were very glad we did. We checked in the first day to find out conditions for the duration of her stay, and received recommendations on which trips and days would be best for our different skill levels and our short time frame. We ended up with a great two-tank boat dive one afternoon. James was our assigned Divemaster (three total on the boat, along with the captain), and did a great job making sure everyone stayed safe throughout and maximized their viewing of the amazing marine life at Nukumoi and Sheraton Caverns. My friend - a very experienced diver - commented on the swim-throughs and the sea life, as well as the clarity and condition of the water - "Amongst the best I've seen!" We also rented gear for a morning shore dive a few days later at Koloa Landing. Gear rental was very easy, super quick, and reasonably priced. We had a great dive with no gear problems, easy return, and helpful staff throughout. The dive itself was great, good conditions and tons of marine life (including spinner dolphins), green turtles, moray eel in the open, eagle ray, and tons and tons of baby reef fishies. We dove with Seasport many times in our two week vacation to Hawaii. They always went above and beyond taking great care of my wife and I. Captain Andrew was awesome and our favorite dive master was Coloma (though I'm sure I'm butchering his name!). They definitely have the best boats on the island. I felt bad on the occasion we dove near some of the other dive shops with their little inflatable boats. I really enjoyed that Seasport has proper boats that are easy to get into and out of. When we checked in for our refresher course they were super helpful helping us track down our PADI information and what to expect for the remainder of the day. Diving on Nitrox I was able to fully take advantage of the extra time at depth making it worth it and my best dives yet. I would avoid booking with them. I booked an intro diving for 2 persons for Saturday July 13th. Once there, they booked other certified divers and told us that they had to cancel our trip. It was offered shore dive instead but they canceled that one for weather related reasons, although in July the weather is quite the same every day. My wife and I wanted to try out scuba diving for the first time so we decided our honeymoon in Kauai would be the best place to do it. Booking a Discover Scuba boat dive through Seasport Divers online was a breeze. When we got there, our dive master Derek did an amazing job of making us feel welcome and relaxed while we waited for the others in our group to arrive. He even showed us a cool trick where he makes a golf ball float in the air using a scuba tank. I'm ashamed to admit that I wasn't able to do it while my wife got it on her second try (but I think the trick after watching them is to let it spin in your hand first before you let go of it). For the beginners training portion of the dive, Derek did a great job explaining to us the theories behind scuba diving and the methods used to equalize, clear your mask, and recover your regulator. I'm the type of person who wants to know everything before I try something new and potentially dangerous so it would have been nice if they covered topics like proper breathing rates, decompression sickness risks, and efficient swimming and body control while scuba diving but this wasn't a full scuba certification course so I understand why those topics weren't covered in the limited time we had. However, Derek did a great job of answering the questions that we did have. The testing portion of the dive wasn't too difficult but still a little nerve wracking because we went into the water with our gear from the beach and breathing underwater for the first time is one of the most jarring experiences in the world. Derek made us clear our regulator, fill then clear our mask, and recover our regulator after tossing it to the side in order to make sure we were ready for our first ocean dive. After a short lunch break, we headed out on a boat for our first two ocean dives. We were in a group of about 9 people with 4 non-certified divers and 5 certified divers. We were both nervous, my wife extremely so, but the captain and Derek did a great job of explaining all the rules and what to expect. Derek made sure to crack lots of jokes to keep everyone relaxed and went over the hand signals we would be using during the dive. The captain and his crew did a great job of helping everyone into their gear and providing water and snacks in between the dives. One of the only complaints I would make is that the dive masks they had on the boat were not as great of a quality as the ones we used during the training portion of the dive so we were both slightly worried about what would happen while underwater and dealt with a bit of leaking because the masks didn't fit our Asian faces properly. This was one of the reasons why my wife had a mini-freakout when it was time to descend using the rope but Derek did an amazing job of calming her down and getting another mask for her which fit better. Now on to the dives themselves. Honestly, we had a little bit different expectations regarding the dives than what we experienced. First of all, the dives were incredible. We dove to a max depth of 40 ft as beginners which wasn't difficult. After a short adjustment period to diving for the first time and moving around properly, Derek led us around and showed us whatever interesting thing he came across. There were so many different hand signals that it was a little hard remembering them all while diving for the first time but it wasn't a big issue. We saw turtles hanging out in coves, all different types of fish swimming around, sea urchins, and morray eels. The reason why I stated that our expectations were different is that we had been hoping for brightly colored coral and a rainbow explosion of different colors like you often see in nature documentaries and photos. This was our own mistake though because I don't think that Kauai has the types of reefs or fish for that type of experience. What we did see was absolutely beautiful in its own right however and I would have zero hesitation in recommending others to scuba dive in Kauai. In conclusion, Seasport Divers is a well run professional operation that kept us safe as beginner divers and gave us an experience that we will remember for a life time. I can't speak highly enough of Derek as a dive instructor/guide, even though I wish a few topics were covered a little more thoroughly (which was honestly impossible given the short training period).
