Had SUCH an amazing experience here diving offshore of Ni'ihau, around Lehua. Did three dives in one day and got to see sharks, sea slugs, nudibranchs, plenty of monk seals, sea tunnels and arches, and more throughout each dive. The catering for breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks was plentiful and great quality, with flexibility for those with dietary restrictions if you let them know ahead of time. The couple who run the business are so friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Also of all the places we've rented gear from, Bubbles Below had the nicest quality and best fitting wetsuits and fins for us! That really makes for a better dive experience. (Living with Covid series) A dive buddy invited me along to Kauai to dive, and the dive shop we were going to use was Bubbles Below. BB is a small business run by Clay (also boat driver) and Blondie (in the shop & bookings). The shop is located in Eleele, and the boat is based not 200 yards down the road at Port Allen Small Boat Harbor, both nearby Hanapepe. 3 days of diving would be too much in narrative format, so here are my impressions: Day 1. We started with 2 boat dives on Kauai's South shore to dive sites named Turtle Bluffs and Hale o Honu (House of turtles). Not too deep dives (60-70 feet max). We didn't see any pelagic sea life, but I'm content with the honu and things I haven't seen before. This time, it was the Hawaiian lionfish or turkeyfish (probably for the turkey-like plume of spikes it displays). They're an indigenous lionfish in Hawaiian waters, not the Indonesian lionfish that is such a pest in Florida, Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. As Hale o Honu suggests, this dive site was full of honu, all waiting their turn at the cleaning station (where small fish come out and eat the algae off their shells) Although I've been to a lot of honu cleaning stations before, this one had over 8 honu, a record for me! Day 2. A trip to dive Niihau was the highlight of the trip. 3 dives with enriched air ("Nitrox") off of Niihau. It was two very long boat rides, about 2 hours each. The afternoon return boat ride was very choppy, with several people getting sick. And Cap'n Clay said it was pretty calm, relatively speaking. But it was worth it! Excellent visibility, interesting underwater structures, and fascinating critters! The cherry on everything was the Hawaiian monk seals. It is said that Niihau has the largest Hawaiian monk seal population in the inhabited Hawaiian islands. We only saw two, but one came by the dive group. The seal came up close to one of the divers, and played with her bubbles from the back. The diver never even noticed! Day 3. These were two scheduled dives along the Na Pali coast. The first was called the Mana Crack. It's a section of the reef that developed a fissure on the floor. Stretching several miles, Mana Crack had a lot of interesting underwater structures. The dive guide found a couple of my favorite nudibranchs, the gold lace. We then headed up to the northwestern section of Na Pali for dive two, but inclement weather came in. We ended up back at Mana Crack. Second dive wasn't as interesting as the first, but it was alright. In summary, Bubbles Below is an excellent dive shop. Great people, fair prices, and some of the best underwater scenery in Hawaii! The snacks and sandwiches provided for the all day dives were tasty and a cut above the slightly stale warehouse club chips and cookies usually available on other dive boats. I have been diving with Bubbles for many years. Even before the current owners who have run it for quite a number of years now. I dove with this crew yesterday and the gear was brand new. Attention to detail. Humor. Knowledge of the territory and the wildlife. I went out with a different company a week ago just to fit another dive in. The difference is remarkable. With unnamed company the boots were worn through. I soon learned why as the fins proceeded to wear holes in my hide and now I get to deal with that throughout my vacation. Trust me... Absolutely fantastic, highly recommend!!!!! We were on our honeymoon in Kauai and booked the Ni'ihau & Lehua Scuba Adventure/Charter with Bubble Below. It was absolutely spectacular!!! Clay, the owner of Bubbles Below was so helpful in getting us the right gear, preparing all our equipment, and getting us ready for this all day adventure. We had our own masks and snorkels but rented wetsuits, fins, and we were diving with Nitrox tanks. Adam and Jake were fantastic deck hands and made sure we had plenty of snacks and comforts while on the long boat ride out to Ni'ihau. We visited 3 different dive sites and saw multiple monk seals!!!!!!!!! I could have stayed there all day watching them swim around and scratch their backs on the sponge corals. We also saw sea turtles, nudibranchs, conches, many tropical fish including the hawaiian state fish, lobsters, corals, and lots of eels. Clay and Jake were great at pointing out all the cool things underwater and taking us through really neat underwater sea caverns and caves. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY.i booked with them for a 2 tank afternoon dive on 7/24/25. They sent me a booking confirmation. When I tried to check in with them by phone a few days before my trip I left a voice mail and assumed they would call back. Nope. When I arrived in Kauai I called them again repeatedly. No one ever answered or called me back. The day of my dive I still had not received any meeting instructions. I drive 45 minutes to the address on their website. There is no store front. A girl in one of the other stores directed me to the harbor and said someone would meet me there. No one ever showed up. I sat in the parking lot calling the same number for another half hour. No answer. No return call. I finally left and drove back another 45 minutes to my hotel. Later I sent an email asking for a refund. A woman named Blondie finally replied saying g they had no record of my booking and do not answer their phone but that she would look into it. It's been over a week with no further communication and now I will have to report this through my credit card to get my money back. I heard elsewhere that they are trying to sell this business and have been blowing people off left and right. I hope this helps someone else from losing a day of their vacation like I did. Our adventure started months ago working with Blondy over email and a couple calls to begin our diving journey. Blondy was wonderful to work with and so helpful! When we made it to Kauai our open water certification dives began the next day- and after a wild and frustrating time getting to Kauai I misread (and 100% my fault because their emails are clear to read) our start time and our wonderful Dive Instructor Savanna waited for us through being 1. Late. and 2. going to the wrong location (again- I'm blaming my exhausted brain after a stressful journey to Kauai. Not their communication which was 10/10). THEN the first skills I thought I'd tap out. I couldn't calm down and I thought I'd have to quit. Savanna was so insanely patient with me. I feel like I added at hour to our time because I kept panicking. Savanna has the patience of a saint. We made it through day 1. Day 2 of dives went well until I again almost panicked at the bottom and Savanna kept me down and tried to help calm my breathing. I was able to finish my skills even when I was ready to tap right out, AGAIN. absolutely the most patient human ever. I had my already certified daughter with me and she was able to dive with me initially and then move over and dive with Clay who had a small group of certified divers and she said it was awesome. Clay took her to see some cool sites, she had such a good time that the next day of dives she completely ditched us old ladies to hang out with the cool kids to dive. Our 2nd day of dives ended up getting moved around because of an incoming storm- our safety was Bubbles' top priority and you could tell. They wanted to get you out there so they kept in contact to get you on the water when it was safe. When we were able to get out there for our final day of open water dives one of our party was having issues inflating and deflating their BCD (to be clear- user error, the equipment Bubbles put us in worked great!) and again Savanna showed so much patience and worked with us to get us certified safely. To tie this all up I a nice little bow- I will 100% recommend Bubbles Below to anyone looking to get Certified and to go dive with them if they're already certified. My wife and I had an exasperating experience with Bubbles Below. We booked its mid-August dive trip to Ni'ihau a month in advance. The staff was both friendly and helpful over the phone, and we flew to Kauai with all our equipment from our home on the Big Island three days before the planned trip, after completing the paperwork, which included that we'd only have 48 hours to cancel the excursion in advance. But as we learned, that deadline only applied to us. With a 6:30 AM Wednesday departure, the shop emailed us late the Sunday night before, at 10:18 PM, when we were already asleep, asking if we had flexibility to change our dates because others hadn't signed up, but promising that "We'll get it worked out!" We wrote back early the following morning, at 5:54 AM, to say that we couldn't change dates...and then Bubbles Below simply canceled our trip that same afternoon, at 1:18 PM, without working anything out at all. The truly perplexing thing is that Bubbles Below then claimed it had given us 48 hours notice, but of course it hadn't. And it also claimed that other boats were going to Niʻihau over the next two days that would have coincided with our schedule, but that wasn't true, either. Bubbles Below may be a good outfit, and we were certainly looking forward to its trip. But I don't understand why it couldn't have warned us in advance that it might decide to cancel within a short window, given the low bookings it obviously knew that it had (which would have let us leave our dive gear at home, which we had to pay Hawaiian Airlines to check), or why its staff would then fabricate a story about canceling the trip 48 hours in advance when it was significantly less. read more

Bubbles below was a great Dive Team to get certified with. My family including 11 y/o daughter got PADI open water certified. Jake was amazing, super patient and very helpful. Clay, Matt and Tim great on the boat. Blondie was great to work with to book our trip and all the logistics/paperwork. We dove with Clay in September 2022, and I highly recommend the company. We did three different dive sites, two near Kauai, and one off Ni'ihau. Clay and his crew were professional, courteous, and effective. The gear they provided was in good shape. Divemasters Jake and Mercedes were very good guides too, taking the time shepherd the group and show us the wildlife. The two local dives were pleasant, getting us back to diving condition after several years. The Ni'ihau dive was extraordinary, and well worth the premium; we saw a couple monk seals, sharks, and the dive sites had very interesting geography, formations and arches, plus all the critters you'd expect. However, the boat ride back to Kauai from Ni'ihau was very unpleasant, with a strong headwind making the sea quite agitated; one diver had to get a strong dose of medicine to knock them asleep, and I had to keep my eye fixed on the horizon to keep my stomach in place. All the bumping up and down, for three hours, gave me a strong headache. I wish Clay wins the lottery, so he can get a catamaran. Or, partner with the snorkeler company that used a catamaran to get to Ni'ihau. All this said, I do recommend people do the Ni'ihau dive, at least once. read more

Spent the day with Clay, Justin and Jake. I've been fortunate to dive in many places around the world 1000+ dives. The crew was outstanding and Jake did a great job as DM. Can't forget Clay's (captain/owner) jokes which made the trip a little more fun. Not to mention his local knowledge of what we could expect on each dive. My only regret is not having more time to dive a few more days. In our short trip to nearby dive sites we encountered whales and turtles at the surface. While diving we came across many different reefs with rice coral, stag horn coral, many different species of fish (swimming in an aquarium). Also fortunate to have a white tip reef shark swim by and several turtles. Vis was good on both dives 50-70 ft. Great people! I did a couple days worth of dives with these guys. Went out for two days of boat dives. I learned after day one, if you're used to shore dives like myself, invest in some sort of something to keep the fish hungry. Once in the water, my God! It is so gorgeous. The dive masters Clay and Jake led us around and showed us incredible stuff. There were sandbar and black-tip reef sharks, mata and spotted eagle rays, Hawaiian monk seals, spinner dolphins, octopus, lobster and crab, eel, plus all the fish and coral I could think to want to see. I greatly recommend these guys. I was looking at a bunch of dive shops and came across this crew on a verbal recommendation. They are easily accessible with a good amount of parking and easy access to the dock. Prices are more than fair, and they are a hard working and honest group. I will be calling them up when I return for more adventures. read more

A really good dive shop. It's not as large as the other operations in the area, it that's what I like. We did two 2-tank dives and got some really good and memorable dives. My dive masters on both dives was Manny and new kid Jake. Captain Clay is entertaining, friendly, knowledgeable, and was sure to make sure we got the good sites and great dives. They were actually able to look at me and give me a wetsuit that fit just right. I'm really short and tubby, so I tend to struggle finding a suit that works the first time. That alone was amazing. One thing I love is that they suit up for you. I hate setting up my gear and putting it on (I'm on vacation dammit!). Also, I'm lazy lol. I won't comment too much of the sites itself or the water conditions because that's in the hands of Kanaloa. But they did check the dives first before we got in the water. But the sites we ended up in was full of all that diverse ocean life Hawaii in known for. We were lucky enough to see sharks and sea turtles, two of my favorites. During surface intervals we talk about what we saw and dive into their snack bins. They number their water bottles too so you'll know which one is yours which is pretty nice. Captain Tom and DM/Captain Clay were wonderful taking us to dive Hale O Honu! A truly special dive with abundant Honu turtles, barracuda, and a moray eel among many other colorful creatures. Their maximum dive group is 6 so it makes for a wonderfully intimate experience especially given this was only our 3 and 4th recreational dives. Visibility was 30 feet, surge was minimal and Clay made sure everyone was enjoying themselves helping us reinforce skills we learned in the last 2 years. Very few businesses are worthy of the coveted Yelp five-star rating. Bubbles Below Scuba Charters is one of those few companies that are truly deserving of this rating. I, and five of my dive buddies from Oahu, did the three-tank Advanced Adventure Dive Charter with Bubbles to Lehua Rock. Lehua Rock is off the coast of the "Forbidden Isle" of Niihau. This is an all day excursion. We met up at the shop in Port Allen at 6:00 am and by the time everything was rinsed and goodbyes were said, it was close to 5:00 pm. There were nine divers, one snorkeler and three crew members on board. There was no crowding and a perfect crew to passenger ratio that allowed for an exceptionally high level of service. In my over thirty years of diving I have never been treated so well on a dive charter. They did everything for us. They set-up our equipment, even though we all had our own, and even adjusted our dive computers for us to NITROX during our surface interval for the second and third dive. During the charter, all tanks and equipment were handled by the crew. We just dove, relaxed and enjoyed the wonderful scenery. At the end of the dive the crew rinsed all equipment and sorted it out for easy access. All three dives were AWESOME. I don't even know where to begin. I've been diving in Hawaii for over three decades and have witnessed the decline in many dive sites on Oahu due to over use. The sites we dove with Bubbles get very little traffic and are teeming with life. The highlights, for me, were the black tip and sand sharks, and of course the curious seals who swam right up to us. Oh, and the largest lobsters I have ever seen. There were also octopus, frog fish, cowry shells and everything in between. The crew are true professionals. Clay, the owner and captain, to pardon the pun, runs a "tight ship" and is really a nice guy. He knows these dive sites well and instills a high level of confidence through his boat handling skills, his attention to detail and his focus on safety. Anthony and Linda were our Dive Masters. You can tell they are well experienced, and both exhibited the highest degree of customer relation skills. They really treated us well. Underwater they aren't "holding our hand", but we knew they were there watching out for us. It was the DM's that made the dive such a success. They never stopped working and were always focused on safety. I was completely confident that I would be as well taken care of underwater as I was on the surface. They also know where to find the sea life. There were many things I would have swam right by had they not pointed it out. Before the dive and after the safety brief Anthony did a detailed talk on what we might encounter to include details about the animals. This was a nice touch. There was no shortage of food, water or drinks during the charter. We even had hot delicious pizza cooked on board ready for us during one of the surface intervals (Do the charter and you'll see how it's done) along with home-made soup and chili, sandwiches, fruits, chips and variety of other snacks. You won't go hungry. If you are a diver and you find yourself in Kauai, you will be doing yourself a disservice if you don't dive with Bubbles. Seriously, these guys are "top-notch". Bubbles Below Scuba Charters exceeded my expectations and is worthy of a solid five stars. read more

Jake was a great dive master and the captain was hilarious...full of jokes. The caves they brought me too were amazing and insane.
