Seattle Children's Hospital ER -- A Cut Above the Rest You know that Shawn Mendes song "stitches?" Well, my kid needed five stitches, and this place had us in stitches the whole time. Needle-ss to say, I was on pins and needles when we arrived, but the staff really sutured everything up nicely. Then I scrolled the room's movie list and found Lilo & Stitch sitting right there. Five stitches and Stitch, available on demand? I'd have been a fool not to take that opportunity. Whoever curated that library understands the assignment. Ohana means nobody gets left with an open wound. They also came through with a little diazepam to take the edge off, and let me tell you -- Diaze-Pam deserves top billing right alongside Lilo and Stitch. Pam clocked in and the whole room relaxed. Not on the staff roster, but she should be. We went in tense and came out totally Zen. That's not a chill pill, that's a chill plan. The care was seamless. They kept the oxygen sensor on my kiddo's finger the whole visit instead of grabbing a new one -- talk about keeping tabs on your patients while cutting waste. These folks really know how to monitor a situation. Every question we asked, they answered -- no one ever left us hanging by a thread. They tucked my little one in with a blanket and adjusted the bed tilt until it was juuust right. Great bedside manner, and an even better bed-tilt manner. Honestly, the whole staff deserves a raise... of the bed. And the promised orange popsicle? Delivered. Orange you glad they keep those stocked. It was the coolest part of the visit -- hands down, sticks up. But they didn't stop there -- once it was all over, they sent us off with pudding, apple juice, animal crackers, AND string cheese, for both of us. The proof was in the pudding, the service was apple-solutely top notch, and the animal crackers meant we were officially crackers about this place. As for the string cheese -- no strings attached, they just wanted to make sure we were happy. Parking was easy too, which is rare for a hospital. Usually finding a spot is the most painful part of the visit, but not a spot of trouble here. They've really patched that up. A stitch in time saves nine, and I'm just glad we stopped at five. Would I come back? I hope we don't NEED to -- but if we do, I wouldn't want to be seen anywhere else. Five stitches, five stars. They mended my kid AND my faith in healthcare. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, they wanted to give me a colostomy bag. And as a child I refused, it was a complete nightmare 20 years ago, I would not recommend! After surgery, they had me go home, only to come back days later with a knot is my appendix which was caused by the surgery days before. I also asked them to remove the cathoder before coming out of surgery which they denied and had to rip it out after the surgery causing immense pain! read more

Lovely experiences here with wonderful nurses and great food. I've stayed here three times and the care is super quick inpatient. Although when outpatient something like a dietitian appointment could take two months for availability vs the two hours it would take inpatient. read more

i have been at children's 3 times this week because my granddaughter has had an unusual fever. it's been a week and today an email comes and says she has ecoli in her pee. I call to see after a week she can get antibiotics and was told we had to go to the er again cuz she could be septic now. I'm in the er and have been here for 3 hours and no care yet. I'm pissed. Hope that now after a week my granddaughter doesn't loose kidney function due to the non care we have receive. read more

Absolutely awful initial experiences with Seattle Children's. I wish I could give 0 stars or negative. My 7 month old daughter was referred here by her pediatrician. Seattle Children's "couldn't find" the first referral, so we had to go through the whole process again, delaying her appointment even further. Finally, the second referral was processed, and we have to wait SIX MONTHS for an appointment with the gastroenterologist. If something is really wrong with my baby, I can't imagine how bad it will be in half a year when we can finally get a scan. My pediatrician referred us to the speech therapist at Seattle Children's as a work around, to try to get a scan for my baby that way. Seattle Children's is still working on processing the referral, and it has been 3 weeks of this. I have to call them every week, and they still say that the referral is being processed. We haven't even been seen by this clinic yet, and it's already been an absolute nightmare. Based on this experience, my faith in the quality of care here is extremely low. If you have the opportunity to go anywhere else at all, please take it. read more

It was an utter nightmare my son died at the hands of this hospital and its staff. I lost him 2 years ago at the age of 4. This hospital is dispicable. While my son was on life support after his shunt failed that he never needed in the first place bullied me to let them keep him on life support 2 more weeks when I said no they threatened me with DCYF being called I had nurses that were rude and shady. This hospital medically kidnapped and killed my son. They are unethical and corrupt and need to be shut down. They are the reason why I left wa state. I would give them 0 point if there is a choice for that. I have been using many hospitals before but never encounter one as bad as Seattle Children's Hospital. If you choose to go there be aware that you might be double charged or triple charged. I brought my daughter to there for a normal consultation, we spent like 30 minutes there and guess what the bill I received was over $2600. I called the billing department and requested code reviews for the itemized charge that I feel it was double charged. The agent whom called me back was not helpful at all, he was very rude, just told me on the phone: "There is nothing I can do for you, I know you are not happy, do whatever you want". This is how their representative treating their customers... I do not get a chance to ask why and speak to someone whom can answer my question, and if I don't pay my bill, they will send me to collection. So helpless with their agents. I will never going back to this hospital again in my life, and I will never donate any penny again to them. read more

When my daughter awoke from sedation in the ER, a worker harassed my wife about the mess from my daughter's soiled clothes and kicked my wife and daughter out of the room. My wife carried my crying daughter, in her soiled clothes, out to the parking garage, where I had gone to retrieve clean clothes for my daughter. My daughter complained of thirst shortly after we arrived at ER around 5:30pm. She was kicked out without even a drink of water once she awoke from sedation around 10:30pm. Now, at 1:45am, she has been neither calm enough nor awake enough to drink water. My wife and daughter were subjected to this inhumane and disrespectful treatment during an extremely vulnerable evening spent in the ER. read more

The ER is a mis managed NIGHTMARE. I highly recommend using your local hospital or different resource . Our experience here has been so bad . My daughter needs stitches and we've been waiting over three hours with zero updates . It is a nightmare to have my child here! He is in a terrible pain and all they do is given him painkillers and IVs. They say they have a team based work but it takes forever to communicate you something and then in couple of hours , somebody else comes and gives you a total different decision. Resudent doctor come and ask you the same questions over and over again. No concrete actions. They are.friendly at you but this does not help when your child is in terrible pain and no concrete investigation is performed as you are supposed to wait 3 days since they do not work over the weekend:((. So called expertise here are not always the best experts. Believe what you will in your own situations, but if your loved one has a rare treatable cancer and/or a very rare complex medical situation, you should consider getting a second opinion elsewhere at some point no matter the harassment, mockery , or accusations you might receive from the providers or staff here even the ones with big egos. Getting a second opinion is a patient's right. There are truly some seemingly good teams and some providers here who are so eager quick to act & give treatments and so determined, but yet perhaps too extreme and too much into the robotic tunnel vision of the big research benefits. And who don't like to be questioned or debated When things go wrong causing your loved one to becoming incapacitated and ending up with serious permanent conditions. And there is they there who Just tell a cute joke say only positive results even when there is bad and hand out a teddy bear but We still appreciate that optimism and cuteness for the kids sake ......, but the adults need the big reality check. Reality leading to overall better equipped interventions & analytical thinking every step of the way even if it is not convenient for them or in line with the original text book treatment plans. Sometimes you have to take a step back and wonder is it too much too fast too damaging. Patting themselves on the back for curing the cancer or disease., but killing the rest of the person to a point of being immobilized bedridden for the rest of their lives with permanent feeding tubes and incapacitated with no quality of life is not healthcare. And with some unnecessary inpatient neglect as contributing factors in addition to these causes needs to change, especially in a so called "Best" hospital claimed by those who probably don't know any better. And The rushed nurses are running around so clumsily dropping & slamming things around, & not composed. I believe it's not all the nurses' fault , it is the overall learned culture there. They are under too much pressure that is not always humanly possible. Time is money, hurry hurry do more more faster faster. And I have seen much better in other hospitals. read more

By the time your child sees a provider and gets a diagnoses and/or treatment plan they will be 18. Their scheduling is always atrocious. Waiting 5 months or more every time you need a follow up appointment is horrible. We had a video visit scheduled for five months to have the provider miss the appointment (he was over 2 hours behind). The Ma told us he is 40-50min behind. That was not true. Then calls us over an hour later to say he is on the phone with another family and will call us in at least 15 more min. At this point we had another appointment. She said she would notify the clinic manager and nurse and the provider. Someone would call me to reschedule the next day. That didn't happen. I called and the scheduler tried to schedule us out another 5 months!! The provider (Dr Johnson ENT) called during the school day....when my son was at school. My son is old enough to be a part of his visit and I am not the patient...he said he would try and call the next day but was on call and had a packed surgery schedule. He told me if we didn't hear from him to connect with the nurses the following day and we should not have to wait another 5 months. No one called again the next day. A scheduler called the following week and again tried to schedule us out 5 months! She said she got a note from the nurse to do so. After explaining to her everything that happened she went back to the nurses who offered another 6 weeks! There is zero communication between providers and staff clearly and the clinic manager clearly doesn't care as we have heard nothing from them. Two years of trying to figure out a plan and treatment for my son and we have no answers and no plan. We also had to wait 9 months for a sleep study. They say they put you on a waitlist, but we have never been called for an opening or notified. A complete waste of time. read more

The equipment is state of the art and and high quality. The care is good as long as you are a child/the patient... But don't expect them considering you in the slightest just because you are in are the parent of a scared and exhausting child that is in pain. They will not even consider you despite knowing you are also exhausted and sleep deprived from taking care the last 24 hour. In fact, you should expect them to randomly attempt to kick both the child/patient and mother out in the pouring rain at 2am with an hour or less notice despite telling to you opposite up until that point... because that is what they attempted to do to my wife and son up until he got violent sick and they realized they should keep him over night to observe him! read more

As a former patient, Seattle children's hospital is generally good at treating children and adolescents that suffer from a variety of illnesses. The medical aspect of this hospital is top tier, nursing is hardworking and professional (most of the time). Depends on the nurse but some are more friendly than others from what I've observed. The emergency department providers usually do a good job at handling patients and meeting their needs. This hospital usually has very long waiting periods in emergency room which tends to be frustrating for parents that are concerned for their ill children. When it comes to providing family resources they work with what they have, and you gotta consider that their main objective is to ultimately heal children, and discharge them asap when stabilized. I've been in hospital before, and they usually meet all my needs and address all my concerns before procedures and treatments. Medical care 8.6/10, staff 5/10, providers 7/10, cleanliness 10/10, equipment 9/10, aesthetics 7/10, overall 5.6/10. Again, humans make mistakes and nothings perfect so you can't come in with high standards but for a top ranking pediatric hospital it's not bad. 3 stars, I appreciate all the hardworking staff! read more

This is the premier hospital to come to for specialized treatment for children. Feels weird writing a Yelp review for a place that shouldn't need recommendations when it comes to top notch cancer care for kids. This journey started last year with a Leukemia diagnosis for our youngest child. Words can't even begin to explain the emotional process that our family went through just to understand, "how could this happen to our kid?" The staff here in the oncology and cancer ward were absolutely amazing and helped us through every step of the journey. Parents bring their kids from all over the region to come here for treatment. We are so lucky to have this hospital a short distance away. Countless in-patient weeks with weekly clinic visits had us seeing many days here at the hospital. There are so many amenities such as the family resource center, chapel, child life specialists, physical therapists, etc. that they have every need taken care of while your kid is in the hospital. As of today, we've made it through the toughest two phases of his treatment and are now entering the marathon of the two year maintenance phase. As much as I look forward to never having to go back, I truly appreciate all of the amazing staff here, especially in the oncology wing, who my child and I will miss dearly. read more

I called multiple times and they refuse to even make me an appointment for my very sick child because someone has to review the referral first, but guess what? no one is doing it!!! I was sexually assaulted by the staff at Children's Hospital when I was 14 years old. This severe emotional and bodily injury inflicted on me has drastically altered my life, life course, and family. What happened to me, as a young girl, in those early morning hours is forever seared into my memory and haunts me with night terrors regularly. Admitted to the hospital for stomach issues, I was tested, treated (with the issue completely resolved), and scheduled for release the following morning. Prior to my family's arrival to retrieve me, however, I was taken to a room, placed on a cold slab of a table, and my feet forced into stirrups, where a group of 18-20 people stood gawking at my fully displayed genitals. I screamed and pushed back. Promptly, I was restrained, shoved down, and my feet forcibly held in the stirrups. I began to scream, cry, & call out for my Mom. Not only was my terrified response met with annoyance, but I was shoved back into the stirrups, feet held down, & the bodily restraints increased in intensity. I was threatened by both the nurse and doctor to "hold still or you will be hurt"! No drapes, no privacy, no legal guardian, only a group of strangers witnessing a child being SA'd. As I screamed, cried, and squirmed (as noted in my medical records), they forced a large metal object into my tiny pelvis. This created immense pain, but the worst was yet to come. They proceeded to CUT me inside my body with what looked like a razor blade! Alone and ONLY 14 years old, I screamed violently & tried to escape. This was met with more aggressive & hostile threats & even more forceful restraint. This went on and on with more instruments, probes, and threats by the doctor & nurse. All the while, as I screamed and cried out for help, the "witnesses" to my assault were tearing up & cringing. The memory of their faces and the assault is seared into my unending night terrors. There is no doubt in my mind that the nurse and doctor were sexual predators. I was a perfect fit for their assault: no parents present, not strong enough to resist, and not enough maturity to understand the depth and lifelong repercussions of what was happening to me. What other explanation could there be? Who would do this to a child, despite the screams, attempts to get away, and tears? I had a voice until that day, when it was violently and unrepentantly silenced with threats, force, and medical sexual abuse. I have reached out to doctors who have told me that, in their experience, this still goes on at "research hospitals." I have also reached out to Children's Hospital Advocacy multiple times; the responses have been as numbing as the horrific memories. For example: "That was a long time ago"...."This is a research hospital; that is what we do here"....and the procedure/testing/research/execution was "clumsy and poorly done".... Thankfully, I now feel empowered to use my voice & come forward to share my story. Here is what we all now know: Sexual predators lurk in EVERY profession: churches, sports, courthouses, entertainment, schools, medical centers, etc. They look for trusting parents and unattended, vulnerable children, like I was. My message to you and all parents is this: Children's Hospital knows what happened to me. It is well documented in my medical records, & they do not deny how I was terrorized and traumatized. No regret. No remorse. In fact, it is LEGAL to SA your child & teen in 41 States w/o consent! So, I invite you to seriously consider.... If this is how I was and have been treated, how could any parent EVER trust their child to be a patient at Children's Hospital? My parting words of advice: Don't allow YOUR child to become an unauthorized "research" project! Better safe than forever sorry.... Terrible kaftkaesque processes. My son was taken to Children's after suffering a first time seizure. We waited 6+ hours for neurologist who never showed up. Was told we would instead need to follow up within 1 week with Neurologist there. Try to schedule and we're told it takes 5 days to process a referral (that my insurance doesn't require) before we can even attempt to schedule an appointment. Then from there it would take 2 weeks to schedule. WTF did the hospital release my son without being seen by Neuro. It is literally impossible to have him seen within a week via appointment. They all see the the irony of this but say.. sorry that's the process. read more

Took 11 year old for a possible heart murmur issue and it turned out to be nothing. They charge $251 for reg doc visit, which is OK. Then $130 for facility fee, and EKG for $303. I mean it is sucking blood out of working people. Not a fan. read more

I was so impressed with the care provided to my son for his recent surgery. Before during and "almost" after. I'll explain...Everyone from the security to the surgeon to the nurses or even non medical staff was top notch. Our favorite outside of our surgeon of course was our night nurse Clairese she was just wonderful and quite compassionate. The therapy staff was very helpful and provided additional stretches for aftercare. The ortho staff checked on us daily including our doctor and always provided great advice in a language that both my son and I could understand. Everyone just seemed very genuine and it made me feel extremely comfortable. Upon discharge we were told there was no rush to leave as the room would be empty for the remainder of the day. Since we had already placed his lunch order prior to knowing exactly when we would be up for discharge I asked if my son wanted to stay until after it arrived. We also completed a form a couple days prior for some additional resources and were waiting for them to come in between 12 and 2 per the time listed on the application. I informed the staff we were just waiting for those two things and would head out directly after. Once everything was all done I informed my 16 yr old I was going to take our belongings to the car and pick up his meds. Our nurse Hui was sweet enough to allow me to use a cart so I could take everything at once. I informed her I was going to stop at the pharmacy on the way. I dropped off our bags and popped back up to the pharmacy. Unfortunately they had trouble locating one of his medications so I text my son so he would understand why it was taking so long. After locating the medication and receiving counsel from the pharmacist, I headed back up to our floor. As I was approaching the room I saw an older blond nurse storming out of it. I had never seen her before so I wondered why she would be going in my sons room. When she came out she immediately walked up to the nurse station and said what is he doing in there so long to another nurse. The other nurse started saying well that's because the mother...and stopped speaking when she saw me. I wondered if they were speaking of my son and I but acted as if I didn't hear and quickly entered the room to see my son sitting waiting. I asked what the nurse wanted since we had never seen her before and he stated he would tell me later. After carefully getting him to the car and loading him in, he said he was ready to tell me what she said...apparently her tone was quite rude saying what are you doing in here? He said oh my mother is at the pharmacy she should be up soon. She then asks well what's this wheelchair for? He said it's for me I just had surgery, she then responded with well she's been gone a really long time and just left the room. What her issue was I have no clue but she left a sour taste in my mouth after such a previously pleasant experience. I know he waited to tell me about it in the car because he knows I would have called her out on her bedside manner. I personally have been at the front desk for many years and speaking about patients and their parents all loud is for sure a no no. Recently I've had to take my son into the ER in Seattle. Out of everyone there that helped the one person that stood out to my son was Sam, she is the child life specialist (I think that's the title) We called her the Happiness Coordinator! She was so nice and amazing with my son. When we went the 2nd time he was asking for her. Fast forward a month, and I'm at my 7yrs olds conference going over his work. The teacher shows me his writings and drawings. He's explaining his visits to the ER. In the drawing he drew himself in the hospital bed and Sam there with him. And labeled it with her name. Really made my heart warm knowing that she was ale to turn that dramatic experience around for him and she has made a lasting impression of kindness. She deserves more recognition then this! 100% Good job Children's for finding a great employee! read more

We have been having horrible experiences with Seattle Children's Hospital. My son was diagnosed with some vascular anomalies last year July while traveling to Korea after seeing three specialists there and taking a PET CT scan. The whole diagnostic procedure in Korea took us two weeks and we brought the diagnosis and the CT scan images back home and were hoping to get the procedure done here. We got a referral to Seattle Children's Hospital's vascular anomalies department in August from my son's pediatrician here in Seattle. It took them 6 weeks to see him with an entry doctor, who ended up having nothing to do with his treatment and passed him to another doctor which took them another two months. The next doctor saw him and ordered Ultrasounds and made us wait another month or so and when we got there we had to wait 75 minutes when no other patient was waiting. We were told to meet another doctor and took them another two months or so. We are frustrated and getting sick from the stress they are giving us. While we were waiting for them to schedule the procedure date, one of the doctors called and said we needed to get my son's MRI now. When we went there to get an MRI, they said he was not scheduled in their system. We are just so frustrated with their poor coordination and don't know if it's wise to trust them and let them do surgery on my son. read more

This hospital intensely overcharges the patients for even basic medical services and care. I've never once gotten a bill less than $300 for even a super quick service like a throat x-ray, even with the best insurance plan. When your child is sick the only thought that should cross your mind is which hospital provides the best care.. instead of fearing the bill at the end of all that. I brought my 18 week old to the ER this evening for a petechial rash. He was given a room within 10 mins and was seen by a doc within the next 5 mins. The next doc was in with the 1st in another 5 mins. The supervising doctor was in within the next 5 mins and I was discharged less than 10 mins later. Everyone was so friendly and loving. I was a crying mess, but my baby was giggling and cooing at all the doctors and nurses that checked him out. I could not have asked for a better experience during these trying times. Thank you SO MUCH Doctors Christine Maloney, Kaileen Jafari, and Maya Jones. You made this momma and her babe feel so cared for. I wish I remembered the triage nurse and attending nurses names, but you were both wonderful as well. read more

For Children's Urgent Care. They say nothing is certain but death and taxes but they need to add kids getting sick on vacation to that list. My little munchkin had been running a high fever on and off for the past few days so it was time to get her seen. I tried another Urgent Care place before Children's but unfortunately they couldn't take my daughter that young (she's 11 months) and was directed to go to Children's. There are two options when coming here: you are able to make online appointments to Children's to lessen the wait or you can walk in. We luckily napped an appointment shortly after their opened and surprisingly it was not crowded. After checking in with the hospital and then the clinic I was directed to the waiting area which was large, clean and spacious. Everything followed the Oceans theme with fish paintings on the wall, sea creature tiles on the floor and even fish prints on the chairs! There were multiple seating areas and even smaller tables with books and magazines to occupy the little one. The viewing rooms were very tidy and made to accommodate little ones. Low to the ground benches and chairs and even a mini scale. Every staff member we encountered from the hospital check in to the doctor were so pleasant to work with. They were super friendly and had a comforting aura to them - cuz let's be real having to bring your babies to Urgent Care is never fun. Their calmness and comfort did more to ease my nerves than they will ever know. The nurse and doctor were very thorough and kept us updated of what was happening the entire time and at the end they gave us a detailed print out of the session and things to follow up on. Hopefully you don't have to take any trips to Urgent Care anytime soon for your little one, but if you do - Children's is the spot! The care from each doctor, nurse, social worker, even the clean up crew made our horrible situation bearable. We had to stay 3 days and 3 nights. They answered every question with so much knowledge, respect and kindness. We never felt like a burden. If your child is already stressed or scared of medical visits, go somewhere else. Until Seattle Children's changes to a fear free approach I won't be bringing my child to them anymore. An ultrasound tech that doesn't even talk to the child and makes the parents physically restrain their toddler while she screams in fear is a rather horrible approach to medicine, especially at a child focused clinic. Maybe they specialize in medically treating children, but their actual practices in the exam rooms are inappropriate for their patient demographic. Never thought bringing my child here would be such a bad experience. read more

When my 3yr old daughter got sick we took her in to the Emergency Department and I can't praise them enough. Everyone was so attentive and caring! The nurses, doctors, security and maintenance staff, and nutritionists were all so friendly and helpful! The utmost care was taken and every safety precaution was followed to the letter. I am so thankful that we have such a great hospital nearby! Thanks to everyone at Seattle Children's Hospital for all of your hard work! You saved my daughters life! read more

Total rip off. We went there with a child that had red and swollen ears and spent three hours trying to get proper diagnosis to be told "I'll be honest with you I do not know what it is and what is causing it. We will prescribe antibiotics just in case and go to emergency room if it gets worse". Fine, but why do I get a bill for over $200 then (insurance paid $100 of the $300 total bill)? Filing a complaint with them obviously got me nowhere, not even a discount. Greedy bastards. read more

This review is for the PMBU. Go elsewhere, they are overwhelmed, understaffed and poorly managed. Of course it is loud and dirty. That is the least concerning. Your child will not be managed, supervised, treated or cared for. The first visit, my child told me that other patients had razor blades and staplers and were harming themselves on the unit. She also asked me to request another blanket. In 10 days, they never gave her another blanket. When I left the first visit, I told the desk person about the razor blades and other items that should be confiscated. She was totally unphased. She was glassy eyed, glazed over, not really there at all. She wrote it down and sat there. Everyone on staff is like 12 years old which did not instill great confidence. My child was not supervised or kept safe. at all. My child was able to make a serious attempt on their floor. After which, my child told me they had tried, but no one on staff knew about it or saw the glaringly obvious attempt. I frantically called and emailed, no one knew anything. When I finally received a call, after lunch, the person I spoke to was very nonchalant and told me that night checks probably weren't being done. Night checks were not being done on suicidal children. And no one seemed to care or have any accountability. No one apologized, reassured me, put me in touch with any supervisor or administrator. I am an elementary school teacher, with 20-35 students in my class. Sometimes I supervise multiple classes during lunch and recess. My lord, if a child in my care was harmed or harmed themselves?! I would be immediately fired, the police would be called, I would likely be charged with negligence. I would definitely get sued, my teaching license would be revoked for the rest of my life. I would be sued again, sued by more people, drawn and quartered, humiliated, fired again. And their response was? we'll talk with everyone on the floor. What?! The next visit, after her attempt, my daughter still had access to everything, on top of that, she now had an MP3 player, with wires perfect for self harm. As some sort of reward for trying to kill herself? Again, I told them, again I was told "yeah she has to be supervised with those, only in group" okay, but she has them. unsupervised. in her room. They took them, but she had them again the very next visit. Other patients continually discussed intense, inappropriate and triggering things without being directed or separated from each other or isolated for violating the agreements. I brought this to their attention daily. I was again told, they shouldn't do that. Okay, but they are. Constantly. Staff does not direct patients in any activities, one day they watched 3. Three movies. Meanwhile, I received a billion phone calls every day, I would get calls from them while I was on calls with them, every day. I think the resources should be directed back to the children in their care. I am not suicidal. The calls were so invasive, I was unable to do anything to properly heal, make plans, and safety proof the house. After they set up 900 appointments during the day, all day, and every day for her I asked them how am I supposed to work? I was told to take leave. I am so traumatized from this experience, my daughter is far worse, and I am going to receive an astronomical bill. Please, go elsewhere, you and your child are worth it. read more

Our favorite child life specialist at Seattle Children's is Paige. She is so awesome at her job! She is funny, down to earth, kind and has a calming effect on her surroundings. Paige helps ease my daughter's high anxiety and we always have some good laughs. She understands that humor plays an important role in managing my daughter's stress. As a parent I appreciate this support system. Child life specialists work closely with children and families in medical settings, serving as emotional support and helping develop family coping strategies. With a background in child development, psychology and counseling, child life specialists help explain medical jargon to kids and prepare them for procedures. read more

ZERO STARS....If you are a black person whether you have insurance or not..STAY AWAY FROM Seattle Children's. Their issues of discrimination against black families is still raging, plus no respect or communication with waiting patients whose appointment time they have delayed. Twice now I had an appointment and still had to wait over an hour after check in. Even if you have an appointment, you end up waiting like in ER. Had a 940am appointment, arrived at 925am and did not see the doctor until 11am. Second time, we had a surgery scheduled for 230pm, we waited til 3pm and noone was telling us anything. . Then i told them we were leaving if I did not get an exact eta and was told it could be another hour. This iseven though my 4 year old had not eaten since 6am for the procedure and it was now 348pm and her original appointment was 230p. When I asked why the wait I was was told that a "more important case was put ahead of ours". Apparently some lives matter more at Children's. We left without the procedure. read more

You never want to have to show up at the emergency Room, but if you do with your child, do your best to get to children's! They act Quickly. They communicate every step of the way what is happening, why it's happening, when it's going to happen, and what the next steps are. We were always aware of what was going on. If you're in a tough situation having to be in the ER in the 1st place, having this level of service is the only way to do it read more

Recently went to the surgery department for my daughter. 100% the worst experience of our lives. If possible go to the Bellevue Branch!! The surgery nurses are cold & could care less about you and your child's care. We waited for 30 minutes to be discharged, never was asked how we are doing, never offered food or drink ( keep in mind my daughter had to fast for surgery) the nurses wanted us out if there as fast as possible. Again, WORST experience of our lives!!! Do not go here for surgery. read more
