Terrible experience, predatory lending. Aggressive tactics, got behind on a Credit card, they closed the account, removed online features, I don't when or how much next payment is. I've now paid $5k on a $2k card over 3-4 years, I need to call in every month to make a payment. Wait on the phone 8-15 minutes every time and explain everything again. This is the only account I am behind and it really feels that is how they like it. There are better Credit unions, better banks, and overall better options. Don't trust them unless you like writing negative reviews. read more

This bank ranks among my poorest financial decisions of the last half decade. They relentlessly pursue any and all opportunities to impose one punitive charge after another. Their call center employees are combative and rude. Let me be clear, I am not a person who thinks service industry employees owe me gratuitous niceness. I don't need a smile and a dozen thank-you from my banker to be fulfilled in life. Competent, disinterest meets the bar from me just fine. Dealing with these folks feels more like a cage match. And its effective, I usually don't even bother. The new app doesn't work. Its often down completely and when you can get in, don't trust a thing it tells you. Finally, access is a huge issue. I was recently traveling within Washington State and needed to make a cash deposit at an Atm. I drove 16 miles and stopped at 5 locations including the only Credit Union in town and couldn't make a deposit anywhere. One bad review should not turn you away from any business. I encourage you, do your research. Compare this institution with others. I am learning the bank you choose impacts your quality of life and switching one your embedded is such a pain. Seattle Credit Union knows this and uses it to their advantage. read more

I didn't know it was possible but this branch is somehow worse than the Georgetown location. Came in with cash to pay my car payment but the "tellers" don't accept cash, you have to deposit it and then they will transfer it. They had to print me out an ATM card which then did not work and I spent a half hour in there before they finally told me the payment went through but they couldn't give me a receipt. Had to call customer service to confirm the payment went through but as usual they had a different answer than the ladies at the branch and the woman I spoke to on the phone last week. This is not just for this location but I cannot stress enough how much I wish I had never transferred my auto loan to Seattle Credit Union. I might have saved a bit in interest but the incredibly rude employees at the Georgetown location (looking at you Bogdan) and the lack of a straight answer is not worth it. Each employee tells you something different and you never have any idea what's really going on. Please save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more

Hands down the most complicated and unorganized bank I have ever dealt with. I have an auto loan that was transferred when I refinanced to them and I simply want to pay it monthly. The process of paying the auto loan off the past three times required me to sit on the phone for OVER AN HOUR waiting for a representative to only transfer me to another. Noone on the phone knows what they are doing. My last months bill did not go through when the gentlemen helped me and I did not get a notification or anything. Now I am stuck with a late fee and two payments to make this month. Of all the sales emails I get from them you would think they would send me a notification saying my payment was not accepted. I would rate this bank zero stars if I could. Do not waste your time with Seattle Credit Union. read more

I recently moved to Burien, and was wanting to move my banking to somewhere that was local, and away from the big national banks. When I saw that SCU was building a location in Burien that was just down the street from my new home, I decided to wait until they opened to see what they were like. When the branch opened, I was greeted by Yvonne and the branch manager Tai Nguyen. Yvonne signed me up and was very knowledgeable. I learned a lot about SCU's work with our local communities, and the various services SCU provides. In addition to a competitive savings and money market rates (already earned a little), Yvonne helped me open a Visa which has the lowest rate I have currently. As a member I guess we all get to vote on stuff too which sounds pretty cool. Oh, btw, you don't get in line behind a glass window waiting for your number here. They have conference rooms, couches, coffee and they are happy to just have a conversation. In summary, I truly recommend banking with SCU and stopping by this branch, even just for chit chat. I have been a customer of Seattle Credit Union for several years and I have been pleased over and over again and with incredibly attentive service, excellent banking policies, and most importantly the refreshing feeling of being treated like a human being. Everything about my experiences with Seattle Credit Union so far have the undertone of cooperation. They want to provide services that benefit both of us, not just them. Never once have I seen the crocodile smile that is so common from your average corporate bank employee. Seattle credit union blocked my son's ability to make his auto loan payments both online and over the phone after he had already paid his loan current after getting behind due to covid and not having a job. Apparently as soon as the moratorium by the Governor was removed, they were all in to get my sons car. They wouldn't allow him to make his payments and when he called someone there, they said his loan didn't exist. They are thieves who stole his car as far as I'm concerned. Also- when he went to the branch to give them his car, they humiliated him and held him up unnecessarily. I've never heard of such an unprofessional and uncaring financial institution, and this kind of behavior in a pandemic is absolutely unacceptable. I will warn everyone I know to stay away from these people. read more

This branch of seattle credit union is useless. The only thing the workers do is tell you to use the atm and do things on the mobile app. They cant even deposit or cash your checks for you... just advise you to use the outdated atm... which doesnt work half the time i come deposit my check. Waste of office space n time going to that particular branch even though its near my house. read more

I've been with Inspirus for over thirty years with good and thorough professionalism , it's been the family bank way back since it was called the School Employees Credit Union. What. Has. Happened? ALERT! Read this! In the old days, if my checking account was empty for some reason,for one day, the card. Was. Declined. Doesn't that make sense? Now they're doing something called COURTESY, which means that instead of ones card being simply declined so I one could know,and put more money in it, they are tagging each transaction with a 25 COURTESY FEE. So a cup of coffee I'm assuming costs 3 bucks actually, with their courtesy, costs TWENTY EIGHT dollars.With no notice.Since I had no idea, I went on with my normal life, not knowing, until they extorted 250 in this way. And they think this is now THEIR MONEY. The first time I noticed this,with horror, I called,bewildered, and the agent told me she was sorry, and that IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. This was,I was told,done. Then I happened to notice that they'd done it again after all to the tune of 250. dollars this month. Then they think this is now their money ,doesn't matter that no communication that ones money is seeping away with every small purchase. Now comes the fun part! You have to call and BEG for them to refund your money that they stole from you. It just depends on the mood of who your talking to, like they're doing you a big favor, IF they help at all. Here's my favorite fun moment,just now! AMBER. AMBER ( of course) is supposed to be a supervisor.AMBER yelled at me when I asked to get my own hard earned money back, " WELL, YOU SHOULDNT WALK AROUND SPENDING MONEY YOU DONT HAVE!" YEP. Obviously a person HAS TO KNOW if they have no money in their account so they can not do that. So, I'm bad because they took my money that its now THEIRS to " walk around and spend it when they don't have it. I lost it and used the F word and she acted like I never talk that way. "Mam,we will not help you, you were BAD, and now your money is ours,too fricking BAD. " I wanted to tell her to give me her Hello Kitty wallet with hundreds of dollars in it,and I'd be entitled to decide whether to, or not to...maybe give her a quarter back, because HER MONEY IS MINE,NOW. I won't even get into the disgusting lack of humanity during this awful time when we all need our money for medical bills,and basic living for those who's jobs have been lost due to the pandemic. AMBER doesn't care, and seems to take real pleasure in shaming who don't have secure jobs like her, ,like AMBER, those people should just know that they are BAD for walking around caring that they're being stolen from with each and every transaction,with no notice. I'm obviously a bit heated, this just happened, I did talk to another supervisor, Bill, who seemed more intelligent,but even he acted like he thought this was fine and refused to refund all that money, because they'd already refunded some money from this scam earlier this year. Like, we already gave some of the money we've stolen,you can't expect to get it all back, because you've been BAD. He also told me he'd talk to someone about the abuse I'd received from the gracious AMBER, but I'm not sure he gets it, because,well, he still has my money. I went in excited this morning to open up a new savings account and start putting more into it only for the process to take over an hour and a half because I had to run back home for proof of address (as my ID address was old). For context I live within walking distance, so I rushed back only to find that I had lost my place "in line" and then took another 20 minutes to get to the process of opening the account. Finally get in the room to do so and their card machine is broken so I CANT actually deposit any money into my account or start saving. I have to go back on Monday (which won't be possible as I work in the city and don't get back south usually until 5:30 or 6:00) just to get said card to deposit the money. It almost feels like they as a branch DON'T want their customers money. Other than that the teller was nice and the service was pretty good. But it would be nice to be able to use the financial institution for what it was created for. read more

I was intrigued by the close location along with a $25 bonus for signing up. It took two trips and waiting for over a half an hour when others came in after me and were waited on before I finished my transactions opening up the accounts. Then today, I tried to deposit a large check when it took over an hour to do this. They have no tellers which I don't like, and I forgot my ATM password so with no one in line I attempted for over an hour to have the local branch reset it. After dealing with two employees who seemed nice and professional but were unable to assist me even after calling the l-800 Card Services line who kept referring me to the local branch for assistance as it wouldn't take my date of birth. I would strongly suggest you go to another CU as apparently this CU doesn't want or appreciate my business. Courtesy? I'll give them a B grade. Results in a timely manner? A D would be appropriate. Although both kept apologizing for the delay, the computers and the l-800 numbers were not helpful. Would you believe a one hour wait just to deposit a check? With a live teller, it could have completed in l-5 minutes. read more

If you're thinking about this being your new bank don't. I recently got pregnant and had my last direct deposit sent to my debit card, and I spent the rest of it ordering my baby things. After ordering everything they didn't notify me what so ever that my transactions were suspicious. They didn't call me, they didn't email me, they didn't send me a message on their website. Instead they told the fraud center to block me, and the bank themselves restricted me. It took me a whole month to realize I can't spend my own money because I been at home. I called them just for them to tell me that the fraud center blocked me, so they sent me to the fraud center.. They unblocked me, then said the bank themselves restricted me! So after talking to the bank and having them sent me to the fraud center, then having the fraud center send me back saying they restricted me, then having the bank tell me there wasn't any "specialist" to simply unrestrict me and that they'll call me back within a day- just for that call to never occur! That phone call took a whole hour too so very, VERY poor customer service just for them to tell me they couldn't help me! I STILL can't use my card, what if I absolutely needed that money? Oh well, too bad? Ya'll suck. read more
