Unfortunately, I had a customer rep at the Kirkland branch misquote interest rates several times on my CD. I was interested in opening another CD. She even said I had to come in and do paperwork for my current CD that was maturing after I received several emails stating that if I did nothing the money would seamlessly rollover for another 13 months. That was unnerving to experience when one has a jumbo CD. I was ready to pull my money and put it in another credit union. My gut said to call another branch. I am sure glad I did. Assistant bank manager, Amberely, is so professional and well informed. She quickly rebuilt my trust and is putting me in touch with her best banker at her branch tomorrow morning. Company decided I was using the account for fraud and then immediately locked the account. Was told I could only close the account or continue with it in an extremely locked down state. First Tech is refusing to file disputes for certain charges on my credit card, violating my rights as set forth in the FCBA and Regulation Z. They claim I am missing information, but won't tell me what information I am missing. They say they want to set up a 3 way call with the merchant, which will be a waste of time, because it will just be the merchant saying I didn't return the merchandise and me saying I did return the merchandise (and have proof). Its my word vs theirs, and this is the exact case for why the chargeback system was created. However, First Tech is refusing to follow their own terms and the Mastercard chargeback procedures by saying I need to do a 3 way call. If the merchant doesn't like my dispute, they are free to upload any evidence in their representment process. Mastercard will rule in either mine or the merchant's favor. Mastercard should be the arbiter here, not First Tech. All they have to do is submit my evidence to Mastercard. But they are refusing read more

Used to be a great bank. Customer service and experience, sadly, just not what it was. Have had Zelle transfers to my First Tech account inexplicably rejected. Have also had a transfer from an account that has been linked for a very long time rejected. When I have reached out to inquire as to what happened, I was not given any kind of information as to why. Also, they put a $5k limit on transfers but don't indicate that when you are making a transfer. Unfortunately, the consequences are a failed transfer and a resulting fee. read more

I became a customer with First Tech when I relocated to Seattle from Europe. Every experience from opening our family's first accounts here in the US, to increasing credit card limits, to getting quotes for auto or home loans has been great. Wait times over the phone are sometimes very long but the callback functionality worked every time. Online banking and apps had a rough time for a few months in 2019 or so, but have been very stable since then. I have since opened accounts with other banks but First Tech remains my primary bank/credit union. Staff at the Terry Ave location in SLU is always helpful. read more

First Tech is one of those businesses that make you wish that Yelp would allow for ZERO stars. The company as a whole is absolutely awful. Their support team is terrible from hours to knowledge. When travelling to any different time zone, First Tech will leave you completely helpless due to having no support options. They will block transactions with no notification and then have nobody there to pick up the phone when you call. This branch is particularly terrible due to the absurd wait times. I have often waited more than 15 minutes just to see a teller. When trying to get a document notarized, they told me that I would need to make an appointment for the following day. Luckily, I have a card with Wells Fargo across the street and was able to get the documents notarized in 2 minutes. Yes Amazonians, this bank is close to you, and it has tech in the name, trying to make it seem like they would cater to your needs, but be warned, this is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Online banking portal keeps breaking every week, plus they have like 1000 maintenance outages. Online banking matters a lot to me and my experience so far has been "mehhh".. I also own their credit card, for which in last 3 months they have had two major issues where they double logged my transactions and later my cards stopped showing up on online accounts. In conclusion, I would be okay with such small issues in any org which does not directly deal with my money, but a BANK, this is definitely not acceptable. read more

Terrible home loan experience. At first, they told me all my agent credit could be used for the closing cost. Then in the morning of the closing day, they suddenly told me that there was some error and part of the agent credit could not be used. And I had to send a cashier check to cover the gap in 2 hours. Having no choice, I stepped out of office, rushed to the bank, and lost those credits in the end. What's worse, they still refuse that's their fault, but some miscommunication! read more

I don't think they understand what a Bank (or Credit Union) does. We have had a mortgage for 15 years but closing the account this week. We always try to make payments and they cannot figure out how to take our money. So I have a major beef... and I'd tell you think twice before joining First Tech if online banking matters to you. In the wisdom of the banks evolution they revised their online banking to this home grown monstrosity that is TRULLY useless!. I've been with the bank for a while and have to say using BECU, Wells, and a couple other banks that Fristtech REALLY bombed their online banking experience. IT SO AWEFULL I'd run...run fast to another bank!. If you like to walk into a bank and chat to a friendly person... then...heck First tech is really good as they are friendly as heck... BTW OMG their online banking is the worst! read more

Overall - I am a fan of FirstTech. 4 stars for great rates, friendly service, convenient and useful enough financial products. On the downside their online billpay product is rudimentary at best with very little feature support and investments in improvement. I was glad to have left the big bank I was formerly with but miss having a more usable billpay UI. read more

First Tech is our bank we chose for our family when we got married. Great that it's local, credit union, .... Stuff like that. Anytime we need more checks, we can get them. Have use of any ATM. Even went over recently to get a signatory thing done for another financial transaction we were working on, no problemo - they were able to help. The only slightly annoying part is that it's located in SLU - where traffic to and from can be a pain, and parking is a bit more of a pain... In general, happy with this bank. :) read more

I have been a member with First Tech for 20 years. I ended up going to the Seattle Branch yesterday, because someone somehow tried to use my card somewhere else. And First Tech contacted me right away, declined the fraudulent transaction and canceled my compromised Debit Card. I made my way down to the Seattle branch and they made me a brand new Debit Card on the Spot. This branch doesn't have a Coin counter, but the other local branches do and they don't charge to use it! Bonus! I don't know of any other free Coin Counters at any of the other banks or Credit Unions. read more

I am a Microsoft employee and first tech has an office inside Microsoft campus. I thought of going with them for my home loan in Redmond area. First tech gave me a wrong credit score. Basically they brought my credit score down by 30 points. So instead of 770, I was told my credit score is 740. Because of that my interest rate was more, my purchased price was down by 125k and I was never told that I can use 401k as my reserve. I was also never told the concept of gift money. They also didn't allow me to put 15 percent down payment. I was told that I can do only 20 percent down. There is a concept of mortgage insurance and I should be able to put 15 percent down. I missed on buying my dream home because of first tech. I hate first tech and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I contacted chase and bank of America later and got better interest rates and purchased price. They also allowed me to put 15 percent down. My point of contact at first tech was Saul Bailey. When I brought this credit score mistake to his attention, he was extremely rude and unprofessional. read more

From the first time I opened an account to the fact that they are there until 3 on Saturday, I can safely say I have never had a bad experience at First Tech Credit Union. The advantage of using smaller credit unions is that, they know your name and face. You are more than just some number on a screen and they truly make you feel appreciated. An added bonus is that if I have to make a trek into my branch near south lake union, there is so much to see and do coming an going. Been a loyal customer for a few years. Very nice people but if you account is compromised you are on your own. They take five business days to credit your account the funds stolen. They sent us new cards with the chips in them but never shut down my old card. They let hundreds get charged to the old card and will not correct it. Plus knowing I have a mortgage payment due they will not credit the stolen money for five business days after the stolen charges post to the account, causing my mortgage payment to be late. Do not open an account with them unless you are rich and don't care if anyone steals from you. read more
