Absolutely horrible experience seeing dr Vega. Do not see this man under any circumstances ESPECIALLY if you are a woman. he preformed what I later learned to be a completely unnecessary pelvic exam (in which I felt he had no real idea what he was doing , fumbling, not alerting me of what he was doing in the moment, etc), after asking him point blank if it was absolutely necessary and if there was any other alternative. He said yes it was the only way ,after consulting other drs I learned that this was 100% untrue. There were countless other ways he could have confirmed my condition. He was also apparently unaware that the extremely time sensitive medication he prescribed to me , was illegal to carry at ANY pharmacy within 100 miles of me (I was informed by a pharmacist at the 4th pharmacy I went to in attempts to obtain said medication) wasting several hours of my time and worsening the severity of my condition. Overall extremely creepy and utterly traumatic situation. This man should have his license revoked read more

Dr. Bolton took an appointment with me knowing she wasn't going to help me with what I needed. She kept trying to push me to take anti-anxiety meds even though I said I didn't want to. She prescribed me some in my first appointment which was not supposed to be used with current meds which she knew that I took and asked me about minutes ago in that appointment. I told her I didn't want to take them because they make me feel numb and unfeeling and she said "but you didn't get anxiety right??" She was argumentative and told me I wasn't a whole person. If you can't help patients with what they need then don't take the appointment. I know myself and my body better than you. I walked out of that appointment after 10 minutes crying - all the while she's sitting there as if there's something to talk about still. Please don't go to her, she is terrible. read more

Bonus Stars for Dr Milliman & Dr Bakker! Where do I begin as so many key reasons we are so fortunate to have them. 1. Dr Milliman understands labs and bloodwork better than any MD or ND I have ever seen. He understand the BUN/Creatine ratio for protein in a way that many are only beginning to look at today. 2. Instead of just focusing on one number on the labs (say low iron), he and Dr Bakker look at the trifecta of various indicators to identify what is the cause and thus best treatment. Too many providers, even some NDs, just look at one item, and ironically as more holistic providers, they should be looking at the whole puzzle piece. I see a few doctors and will consistently go to them first on my labs (both ordering and review). Even in reading a low star review that has more to do with the IT issues and Covid technology changes, the reviewer points out that Dr Milliman touches on things in her lab that were ignored for a long time. To me, this level of care & attention are the critical factors; Dr Milliman synthesizes seeing way more than most....thanks to his talent, experience and skills. 3. Also they know what to order on labs as many other docs may skip a few markers. 4. Best Value in Healthcare. They are reasonable even if out of pocket. 5. Did you know Dr Milliman was head of the ND association in the USA for years?! He also has been on state wide boards involving insurance, codes and more. He has been instrumental in getting NDs covered by insurance in WA, while unfortunately in most other states, ND Coverage is entirely out of pocket and $$$$. He not only cares about his patients but the greater community. You are lucky if you can get in, as at times, there are no new client openings but as people move, age out of this life etc, they sometimes have new client openings. Also, he has been instrumental in curating the direction at Bastyr, a preeminent ND University. Why not go to the source if you can?! 6. I have met a number of Dr Milliman's residents (love how he gives back that way) and Dr Bakker is a favorite. 7. Talking to you like you are an equal and smart! Dr Milliman gets into the back story of results when applicable. Seattle Healing Arts is a wonderful place to find a Naturopathic Practitioner. The organization placed a great deal of thought into every element of care, from reception to follow up (post office visit). Though not my normal clinic, I was referred to one of the physicians when my ND recommended a prescription for which she was licensed to prescribe (due to AMA and Federal rules, ND's can't write the same prescriptions as MD unless they have an ND/MD). I've kept in touch with my physician and SHA because he's an amazing source of knowledge on issues that concern me about mind-body connection. I'm pleased with the staff, their organization and professionalism, courtesy. There is generally about a five minute wait upon check-in, but with a clinic of this size, that is far better than most hospital or regular MD clinics. I've been in situations where wait times exceeded 45 minutes. The clinic itself its easy to find and there is ample parking, nice places for lunch after the appointment, or combine your trip with a visit to Wholefoods, which is only a blocks walk from the clinic. I have been seeing Dr Abdullah for a year and there no doubt that my health have improved since the first time I step in his office. He was one of the few doctors who listened to me and try to understand the root of the problem. He recommended me to other specialists who appear to be a good fit for me. Going to Seattle Healing Arts is like going to a zoo of Seattle stereotypes. There are your Subaru-driving crunchies, aging ex-hippies, soccer moms wearing Keens and polar fleece, the occasional hipster... I'll admit that I don't mind when my practitioner is a little bit late, because it means I get to people-watch. :) Don't get me wrong; I don't mean to sound like I'm hating on the place. Quite the opposite -- I love everything about it. I love that they have MDs and NDs, so you can take a multi-faceted strategy to health care that concentrates on natural medicine without discounting more traditional approaches. SHA's other strength is their dedication to personal service. I know a lot of hospitals and clinics claim the same, but at SHA they practice what they preach. Instead of waiting in a sterile waiting room, the lounge has musical instruments for people to play. (I realize that sounds like it could be a disaster, but it's not. A fellow visitor there today was playing the guitar while he was waiting. It was pretty cool.) Furthermore, instead of speaking to some random receptionist behind a plexiglass window, the assistants actually grab a seat next to you in the lobby and get to know you before taking you to the office. Not only is the staff great, but the practitioners are amazing, too. I've only recently started seeing two practitioners there (an ND and an ND/MD), but both have been extremely knowledgeable and professional. They have suggested supplements that can be bought in the dispensary at SHA, but I've never felt pressured to purchase. Supplements that I have purchased there have been competitively priced. You don't have to be a Birkenstock-soled, patchouli-wearing hippie to come here; all you need is an open mind. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Vega for 21 years. I have seen Seattle Healing arts grow around his engaging style, warm heart and excellent skills. I began with Dr. Vega because I had a headache that lasted for over a month. I had been to a couple other doctors and all they wanted to do was put me on antidepressants, which was not a good strategy because all I wanted to do was sleep, and the headache persisted. I went to see Dr. Vega every week for several weeks in a row because it was not perfectly clear what was the cause of the headaches. He was careful not to put me on drugs with side effects. He put me on one mild drug, and it did help quite a lot, but the underlyinig headache remained if I didn't take the med. Eventually we figured out it was a blockage in my sphenoid sinus and 1/2 hour later the problem was gone! I begin every session with Dr. Vega with a hug and generally end the session that way too! He doesn't take a lot of different insurance plans and I am perfectly happy to pay from my pocket. To me, that is a serious endorsement! He saw me through a serious workplace injury that kept me away from work for a year. He is now taking care of my partner too. He also saw me through a bout of diverticulitis. He was careful to get the right diagnosis then once the results were in, he gave me a naturopathic remedy that resolved the issue in a hour. Sometimes I have to wait to see Dr. Vega. This happens about 1 in 5 instances and is not usually longer than 20 minutes. Once I had to wait 90 minutes but his assistant came and explained there was an emergency. Since I too have had emergencies that made other people wait I was just fine with that. read more

Oops. Not only did I fail to fill out the new patient forms online, I also showed up 15 minutes late to my first appointment with Dr. Angela Heithaus MD. Still, she was able to still see me right away and said I could fill out those lame forms after our appointment. Doc Heithaus was professional, friendly and spent more time with me than any other MD/Internist. She really listened and offered some great solutions. Having grown up with a family all in the healthcare field and being an RN myself, I know a fantastic medical practice when I've experienced it. Seattle Healing Arts is how healthcare is supposed to be - a complete integration between Western medicine, naturopathic medicine, and other health modalities such as acupuncture, massage therapy, counseling, chiropractic, physical therapy, and energy healing like reiki. I've been seeing Dr. Koller for three years as my primary care physician, but she also specializes in acupuncture. She even knows some naturopathic medicine. She is an amazing provider - holistic (think not just physical health, but also emotional health), approachable, respectful, and she takes the time to get to know her patients. If she doesn't know something, she consult with her colleagues or will even make a referral. Seattle Healing Arts is located just east of Greenlake by 65th and Roosevelt, so parking isn't an issue. There are also two labs in the Seattle Healing Arts complex, so you don't have to travel anywhere for your bloodwork. read more

I became a patient of Seattle Healing Arts in 1999 and value the entire staffs' knowledge and expertise. It is not uncommon to walk in the door and be greeted by first name! What other doctor's office does that?! My primary physicians were Dr.s Dodge and Hobson and I highly recommend them. A fantastic practice with a great staff. I've worked with Dr. Angela Hiethaus and Zhi Ping for about 2 years now and they've been great. I entered the practice in a moment of crisis and they took care of me right away. The place has a holistic, laid-back air, and the staff is very patient-focused. I've never felt like a number there, and most people know you by name. Sometimes the scheduled times get a little skewed, but that's because they're more about the patient than the time, and I know that if I needed 45 minutes in a 30 minute slot, they wouldn't rush me out the door; it's a trade off. As a new patient, looking for a new doc my sad first impression came from the front desk. Where I received attitude, not help. I told her what I was looking for. She told me to find it and then call back. I asked a couple questions about their practice, she told me to find my answers on line.(was already at their site) I asked a question about navigating the site, i was having trouble locating the info I needed, and she was rude. I won't be calling back anytime soon. This experience really bummed me out, I was looking forward to a different approach to health care, with lots of options under one roof. When I moved to Seattle a few years back, I was on a mission to find a great Naturopathic Practitioner. Out of a few top choices, it came down to Seattle Healing Arts. What a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and my doctor is great. She had many suggestions for natural diet, well-being, birth control, and when I would get sick she would give me antibiotics only when I have an infection, but usually it would be home remedies and herbs, and they've worked every time. This is more a complaint about a specific doctor than the entire facility. I saw Dr. Vega the other day, and I'm not even sure where to begin. I've had lots of bad (and good) customer service in the past, but this is what finally prompted me to open a Yelp account. I went in for a couple of different things, the main thing being a plantar wart on my heel, which I've been having treated by Dr. Kovscek, who I really recommend. Unfortunately she doesn't work on Fridays, which was the only day I had free. Instead of freezing it he asked if I wanted to try a different procedure, and he assured me I wouldn't have any problems and would be able to run on it. Ha! The pressure of my foot on the bed this morning was causing so much pain that it woke me up, and now I can barely limp around. I also went in because of a burst blood vessel in my eye, which I wasn't entirely concerned about but just thought I'd have checked out since I was there. Turns out, when his medical assistant took my blood pressure it was really high, which is totally unheard of for me and kind of concerning when you take into account the burst vessel. However, Dr. Vega was about to end the appointment after treating the wart without even mentioning this. When I brought it up he took my BP twice more with radically different results. Within the span of about a minute my BP went from 135/90 (the BP the assistant got) to 115/70 (my normal BP). What the heck? Is the machine broken? Is that normal? He didn't say anything, just ended the appointment once he got the lower BP reading. Finally, he answered his cell phone in the middle of the appointment! I don't even know what to say about that - can you get any more unprofessional? I got the impression that he was really overworked and busy (like every other doctor I've ever been to) but all this made me feel really unimportant and like just another patient he had to rush through. read more

I've been coming to the lab at Seattle Healing Arts for 5 months getting labs done, and although the lobotomist has all but once been gentle and quick while drawing blood, the check in process has been very slow. I've been ignored multiple times, even after checking in on their clipboard, and have had other drop in patients taken care of ahead of me. . They never have my standing order ready, it always has to be re-entered into the system which takes 10 min. What should be a half hour visit has turned into 1.5 hours at least 3 times. Dr. Jane Pemberton has been my primary care doctor for almost five years. She and her assistant Christina are both wonderful and I feel lucky to have found them! Dr. Pemberton takes the time to get to know her patients. She gets the big picture by looking at physical, mental and emotional health of each patient. She and Christina have been extremely helpful in dealing with my complicated insurance and mail-order prescription service, so I never feel like I have to "go it alone" in managing my own health and wellbeing. read more

In effort to address a few perplexing injuries, I've worked with half a dozen practitioners here. First they're all great. Second, it's fantastic to have access to so many different modalities in a single space, not just because it's convenient to me (which it is!) but because it means that they talk to each other easily. My PT knows my MD, etc which increases continuity of care. Although I'm stoked that I won't be seeing them as frequently soon, I wish everyone had access to this kind of practice group (which is actually comprised of several different practice groups, but independent practitioners). read more

Fernando, you might inquire of your daughter just what her problem was when I called attempting to make sure my bill was paid in full. Does patient confidentiality matter at your clinic at all? You might also inquire why one of your physicians would push across a boundary clearly set. When a patient says no, no is always the right answer. As it was, this clinician damaged my trust and did so while finding out absolutely nothing about me. I said NO, and meant it. My wife was hurt as was I, and there is just no excuse for that. If you are sincere in your response, please take these matters up with the parties in question, and please don't mention our son's name again under any circumstances. He was never a patient at your clinic. It therefore seems suspect that you would use his name in any public post. read more

I feel comfortable coming to her with any health concerns I may have. She is available by email and responds fairly quickly. As far as the rest of the staff, I have never had any issues. I was given Dr. Abdullah's name by my homeopathic doctor. Dr. Abdullah is a naturopathic doctor that does Japanese acupuncture, Tibetan and Chinese herbs and Ayurveda. I have been seeing him for about 6 years and will continue as long as I live. He is very smart doctor and even better human being. I went through chemo few years ago and had terrible body pain, gas, nausea and lack of appetite which was not getting better with any drugs. I felt better within couple hours after getting acupuncture from him. After that I saw him every week for months and did not have to take pain killers. He listens to you very carefully and goes out of his way to help his patients. read more

I went to the LabcorpDynacare lab in this building to leave a clean catch urine sample for bacterial analysis and culture. I do not recommend using this branch of LabCorp. The receptionist who was also the lab technician was arguing with a patient when I arrived and then came into the reception area, threw some blood vials down on the front desk and got on the computer WITH HER DIRTY GLOVES ON. She the pulled a paper cup with a cheap plastic coffee style lid out of a desk drawer for my sample. The cups were not stored with the lids on or in a sterile container. She labeled the lid, not the cup, and told me to leave my sample in an open biohazard sharps box in the bathroom. I was not impressed with this facility and do not have confidence in my lab results. I cannot speak about the other providers in this building, but I do not recommend the LabCorp office here. read more

Terrible & unacceptable disconnect between patient and doctor (Dr. Mary Bolton, Dr. Vega) as well as office staff, (Annalise - Administrator). Had my prescription for anti-anxiety held for ransom because I could not afford to visit Dr. Bolton every other week, then was denied the option of paying my bills on AMEX, one of the options clearly listed at the top of each invoice. My doctor ignored 2 weeks of phone calls, emails, and left messages, and the office staff and founder followed suit. I secured a new physician and opened a case with BBB - WA. I recently signed up for insurance through United Health Care.My information arrived quickly along with my cards and the name of my PCP to contact to make an appointment.I called the office of Dr.Gmeiner and asked to set up a date to be seen.They asked my information and what insurance I am with.I tell them.The front desk says that Dr.Gmeiner is not contracted through my insurance but to call her assistant to double check.I call and leave a message.The NEXT DAY....Im contacted by the office of Dr.Gmeiner.It is her "assistant" leaving me a message saying,verification with the Dr.has said that indeed they do take my insurance and to call back the front desk to set up the appointment....I call the front office...Give them my info...tell them my insurance....and again I get.."She's not contracted with my insurance."I relay a message to the front desk that I had personally spoken with her assistant who spoke with the dr....who said she takes the insurance....The guy apologized and set up the appointment.....i This morning I get a call from guess who....Dr.Gmeiner office....and they say...."regarding your appointment today,Dr.Gmeiner wont see you because she is not contracted through your insurance."I tell them I spoke with her assistant who said she did....I get a...well...ummm...uh...then I say ok..thanks for nothing....I had to rearrange my schedule and work situation for this appointment....DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE...RIDICULOUS RUNAROUND. read more
