Loved Dr. A and appreciated Darius's quick response and communication but would never recommend this location. The check in was lengthy and the information they give you as parents is not accurate and does not match what the front office allows. A few examples- they told us we could bring sweatpants and sweatshirts for patients and crayons. What they don't tell you is they will cut the drawstrings out of the pants and if the neck is too wide it is not allowed. They don't allow any stretchy clothing not just yoga pants. They will let you Donate crayons for patients to color but you won't get them back and patients only get 1 crayon at a time. They combine acute care patients that are violent with non acute patients which shortened our care for our child due to risk factors of these acute patients. Food is not edible and they only provide rice krispy treats, chewy granola bars, Oreos, string cheese, baked chips, bananas, apples and oranges but no healthy protein rich snacks. That doesn't seem like healthy options for patients. They kept my child's medicated shampoo and did not return it at checkout. We had hoped the other reviews would be false but unfortunately it was not a good experience EXCEPT Dr. A prescribed one thing that helped and we appreciate him! Understaffed over Memorial Day weekend and child's release time was delayed by 6 hours. Drum circle lady did not bring drums and sat patients in a circle to do chair dances. Group therapy was not therapy but patients sitting there. Janitor would empty trash cans but never swept floors so hair and dust balls were never cleaned up after a 4 day stay. The front entrance of the facility got completely flooded outside and there is not good drainage for heavy rain. Ranesha was funny at check in. Staff scare patients by standing over them at night to make sure they are breathing. My child woke up terrified by a staff person looming over her face in the middle of the night. There had to be a better way to monitor this. If that isn't triggering I don't know what is!?!?!?!! Still waiting for admin to call us about the medicated shampoo and returning it to us........$35..... they don't keep up with patient's items well. read more

So I was here for 6 days and let me tell you this place sucks the intake is a little weird I never had to take off my draws for a skin check I thought that was extremely weird, I had a stalker in my unit they did not do ANYTHING to help you can tell these people just want your money they'll keep you for at least 5 days so that they can get the most money out of you Not my story but my friend in the unit wasn't aware of a specific rule that was set in place (they had 1 chair that no one was using to rest their feet) then a female staff member black tall dark hair and glasses started instigating a fight There is very little to no communication with you or your parents here it's so frustrating and the food is horrible I almost puked trying to eat it then we have our lovely bug infested showers a lot of them would flood and it was so cold every morning I was shivering Do not send your child here read more

My experience at first was most likely everyone else's. I was scared, in shock, and in disbelief of why I was there. But the amazing care from the nurses, to the doctors, to the type of care I received from everyone was something I will never forget. I knew that I had to completely let go once I stepped foot in the facility, once I did, I was able to finally exhale. Dr.Phan and one of the psychiatrists named, Joseph changed and may have very well saved my life. The only reason I am not leaving a 5 star review is because there was no transition out or "exit interview" once I left. It was very scary and almost traumatizing stepping outside for the first time in several days. Feeling the ground, seeing the sky, going to bed, showering, etc for the first night or so. That is my only critique is I wish there just a quick or even a few minute chat. Avoid inpatient here at all costs! Awful experience. Psychiatrists spend less than 5 minutes with you (no exaggeration) and then make decisions about your care. It's gloomy and dark on the unit. I only went outside once on the last day I was there- stuck inside for 5 days straight. On what planet is not being able to go outside and being stuck inside on a small unit with disruptive and loud patients good for anyone's mental health?! Severely lacking in any actual therapy- maybe 30-45 minutes a day of any decent information/education and in a group setting; zero individual treatment/therapy. Aside from a handful the techs, nurses, psychiatrists and "therapists" lack compassion and respect for their patients. If you want to add to your trauma and be treated like you are in a correctional facility, come here. This place is a joke. You will not get help here and they will try to keep you there even though they offer no real help, support or therapy. read more

I just left this facility yesterday. Made some friends and the environment was safe. However, there's no communication between the doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and counselors! They don't have direct answers and they keep you guessing. They give you the run around. If it wasn't for my family putting a foot up their A** I probably would've been there longer. (Trigger warning: sexual harassment of minors and transphobia) I was admitted here when I was 12. This place should be closed down. When I was strip searched, there was one woman holding a towel in front of my exposed body, and another woman examining my clothing. The woman who was supposed to examine my clothes leaned over to look at my bare breasts while I had no shirt or bra on. She kept leaning over to look, AT MY NAKED BREASTS. Again, I was twelve years old, 12. Another member of staff kept misgendering a trans boy in my wing, even though gender dysphoria alone can kill a child. Staff sexually harass and generally harass literal children by looking at their naked bodies and being transphobic. Mental hospitals usually have some levels of abuse, but this one is out of hand. We were not allowed outside, staff were rude, I was threatened with punishment at some point when I did not feel like playing a game that had nothing to do with mental health. They punished another patient for not wanting to participate, they pulled her away and had her write an apology letter or something along the lines of writing. Horrible quality of care, below bare minimum. If you want your child to be sexually harassed by old ladies, this is the place for your child. I was involuntarily admitted into this behavioral center back in 2002-2003. The mental scars from this place made me want to leave this review, even after all these years. I was 15 years old at the time and now as a 37 year old woman I still have nightmares about what I endured there. Verbal abuse, physical abuse, & being locked in rooms for hours at a time are what they considered "therapy". Honestly, I'm not even certain I ever saw an actual physician after my first day being admitted against my will. Every day that followed, I only saw what I would call "babysitters" who's only purpose were to make sure that I did as I was told. Which I did, because I wanted nothing more than to leave that place as soon as possible. So I took the beatings, took being called worthless and other explicit names, took being isolated for hours, sometimes days on end with nothing but my own thoughts for company. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here, let alone my child. It will not help them. Please trust my words on this. It will only cause lifelong pain that can never be taken back. read more

- [ ] I was admitted 01/09/23- 01/15/23 inpatient. It was "voluntary" but I was told if I requested to leave they would make it involuntary. So either way I had to stay. But I figured if I was gonna get help this was the time to accept it. I thought there would be actual help and therapy of some kind. But instead I was left alone most of the time and offered pills for anxiety and sleep constantly. I talked to the therapist once and it was shortly after I got there. I told her some traumatic things that have happened to me that led to the mental event, and she just documented them and left. The only form of help they offer is pills. I also overheard one of the nurses saying "man some of these people really just take up a bed and space not getting up" she didn't realize I was behind her when she said it so I said " I hope I'm not one of the ones just taking up space here" startled and a little embarrassed she said "oh Audrey of course not you actually get up" as if being depressed and staying in bed is not normal in a psych ward. I slept through the first day, and most people do. It's a lot to deal with. Especially when there is nothing to do there. They have puzzles that are missing pieces, dried out markers and some cross words that are already completed. There are two group meetings a day where somebody reads from a print out they got online and ask basic questions about what you're grateful for ect. Sometimes the Night Shift people would not follow the schedule posted on the wall. They would make you feel stupid for asking for things at a certain time (scheduled time) saying it was too late and to go to my room. I also only saw my doctor like once. After that it was a fill in that didn't know my name or why I was there but was making decisions about my discharge date. After I brought up the comment I heard from the nurse I got to move my discharge a day earlier. I also saw mistreatment of the mentally disabled. I lost weight while I was in there from not eating. My boyfriend was shocked to see me when I got out. The food is nasty. Not room temperature, cold. Cold spongy eggs with a stale hash brown patty And 4 pieces of bacon. I left this facility with no real help other than 2 new prescriptions. There were two ladies I really enjoyed having around. They were very professional and kind. I wish I knew their names. They were the only good part of this facility. read more

This hospital is to be avoided. Seay Behavioral Health Center has many problems. The time my child was there they had an older student with violent tendencies. They failed to properly monitor him and he bullied the younger kids. The Dr. and Therapist were very slow to reply to my questions and phone calls. They referred me to Broadway Psychiatry which was also not good. The worst mistake they made was with my daughters prescription. The medicine was too strong and she had very bad side affects and went into a stage of hypo -mania. Antianxiety main medicines and the generic form of it should not be given to young teenagers children without warning about the emotional side affects. Parents should be warned about the side effects that are emotional. It has adversely affected her and our family. She has suffered a lot. I would not recommend this place to any family. My kid is actually worse now than when we bought her there to Seay because they gave her the wrong medication and suggested a too high dosage. Was here nearly 2 weeks after a serious mental health break and it was the worst facility I've ever been to. You get no individualized treatment unless you are a very very severe case and even then if you have bad insurance that's not the case. It's really all based on the quality/payment your insurance will provide here. Someone who actually tried to kill his grandmother was released after less than a week while I had to stay for nearly 2 when I was only a minor threat to myself. read more

This hospital appears to have given one of my clients PTSD from being in there. Clearly the staff takes on an approach of not listening to the patients and (all the Rogerian approaches are 100 percent lacking) .. I get it's a hospital, I get your only concern is to get people stable enough to leave.. but guess what it makes many people worse.... so "stable enough" isn't what is happening, when human beings leave there feel having less self-esteem, feel less understood, and feeling more suicidal than before entering... unfortunately I've seen one too many people come out of this hospital worse than when they went in.. feeling lower and worse about themselves then when they went in .. all because they don't listen to the patients, have a my way or the highway attitude, clearly no compassion or empathy... and if a person is depressed .. that kind of reaction only makes it worse and no amount of pills will cover that up... If I ever have to hospitalize someone in the future, I will never send them to this place. Tough love doesn't work for people with depression, who already feel like they are a burden and have issues ... it may work for individuals breaking the law .. but you aren't running a jail.. you are running a place with the most vulnerable of vulnerable who need empathy and compassion not tough love read more

I was only there for a few days. I didn't get the right medication for the first two days and started having withdrawals. I signed a 4 hour letter and was released. They misplace my jacket. Also, upon arriving home I discovered they had given me someone else's valuables including her drivers license. Would not recommend. read more

From ours experience, we would not recommend this hospital, they're not professional service, so rules and means, don't be big mistake like us... we been very difficult times with them during my daughter. They hold and tide my daughter there for a week with whatever they think that is the policy right ..... holding as long as they want too.... that right after she got discharge and they pushed us fill out the form for out patients. I was in the PHP (partial-hospitalization program) with Rafael, who recently transferred from in-patient and genuinely it was an amazing and helpful experience. Raf was professional and very patient with everyone going in and out of group but still was very personable and honest with us. His CBT strategy was super effective and well executed in his lessons. Beware: you might never get a bill and receive a letter from their collection agency. Even though I have given my information when I got there, they tend to type things away without care. Someone mistyped my name and address, and they have gotten one of their bills returned. What I hate the most is that I went to one hospital, but I get so many bills from here and there which I do not know what they are for. Then, they make the basic mistake and blames on customers. I paid them. I will never go to that hospital, considering their wait time and results and THIS! Assisting staffs were kind, but overall they are very inefficient and incompetent. read more

Seay Center in Plano is the best. I've been there twice and both times were awesome. The staff are all nice, loving and at times, hilarious. I know it's been a while to leave this, since I was 13 at the time and am now 26, but I know teens due my mother's friends who have been the facility in the last 3 years and there experiences match my own. I was in the facility for a little short of ten days and in that time experienced staff mistreating other patients and myself by manipulating thing we said to make us question our own knowledge and memories, by telling staff and our parents different things than we told them and then telling them we were being dramatic or we were lying, staff emotionally abused multiple patients and shamed them to the rest of us. They also showed us, all ages as young as 12 all the way to 18, movies like The Secret Window, which is not ethical in a psychiatric facility. My parents had trouble communicating with the facility staff, which caused other issues in my treatment for some of my physical illnesses, including they didn't let my mom into the facility soon enough for a priorly scheduled spinal tap and they had given me the medication for anxiety and pain control but didn't answer my mother's calls to get me and go to the appointment till too long later and my medications where barely working so I got a basically unmedicated spinal tap. All because they gave me the meds too soon then didn't answer my mothers calls for another half-hour. That and other constant communication issues. My parents removed me before I was supposed to be released because it was not doing well for my mental of physical health. The only good thing I can say was that there was a very caring and nice nurse named Shelley at the time and she brought me a a signed shirt from one of my favorite bands because she saw them live one of the nights I was in patient and told me I couldn't tell anyone, but I think she may have been caught because she wasn't allowed to talk me much after that night. But I absolutely appreciated her especially in that point in my life and with how the stay was going at the facility. read more

I went to the location in Allen. Started in the PHP program which was good. The therapist has a tough love approach which works for some but not me. Learned some good skills. The psychiatrist in staff Dr Quadri was excellent. HOWEVER upon completing PHP and preparing next steps there were mixed and inconsistent messages. Therapist got on a power trip and it was her way or out. The whole discharge process I was misled. I am a strong single mom that just got overwhelmed with anxiety. She treated me like a problem child and when I tried to discuss things with her she did not practice what she preached. I ended up having to seek help with incorrect discharge paperwork and was almost denied coverage and fired. Now I'm worse then when I started - and trying to find a better outpatient facility. read more

Sent my young son there after a possible suicide attempt. He stayed for a week. In that time, no one contacted me for anything except approval for a sleeping medication. No doctor report, no social worker, no contact. I still don't know what happened in there. After a few days in, it was apparent to me that nothing significant was wrong with my son. He was dancing and laughing during visitation. Thrilled not to have to go to school. He wondered if he could stay longer to avoid homework and chores. He even liked the food. He was embarrassed that he didn't have troubles like the other kids there. So even though it was pretty apparent he wasn't significantly troubled, they still would give me no info on possible release date when I called and talked to nurses. Docs never returned calls. Initially I was told 4 days. They kept him for a week. Finally I said enough. Left a message that I would be taking him home. "Coincidentally" he was released that day. Seems like an insurance grab. I don't know how I could have been more diligent and still I had these problems. I do not recommend this place if you have a choice. If you do go there, as a parent, stay on top of them as much as possible and demand answers and progress reports. I assumed this would be part of treatment so I didn't mention it during intake. You should def talk clearly about expectations before your child walks through that door. read more

I was there twice. Once in December 2012 and another time in February 2013. Both times, the staff was more focused on worksheets and 'setting goals' than any actual, DECENT therapy. They didn't handle ANYTHING well. Not a thing. I was there for self-harm, suicidal idealization, and depression, and they automatically added Trazadone just to make me pass out at night and upped my Abilify, which ended up giving me nerve damage and joint pain. They reward you on a dots system, and I was told I wasn't allowed to cry without losing dots. You spoke up for yourself? Dots. You wanted to go home? You had to have enough dots. Honestly, you'd be much better just getting counseling elsewhere, the only perk to this place is to force you to be clean.This place is closer to hell rather than help. read more
