I literally was too confused to argue much but said something along the lines of, "that doesn't seem very accepting, even though your sign outside makes you seem, like you want to seem, "very accepting." This is antique shopping and it's by consignment. Dealers have their booths, but they are not present, like at a flea market. They took my payment and said they'd have everything wrapped and ready for me when I picked it up the next day. When I arrived the next day, the saleswoman greeted me and introduced me to the store. She was kind and friendly, and even helped me find some things to do while I was in town. The store itself is gorgeous. So much to look at! Everything is displayed beautifully. The employees were friendly but by not means stylists (which I would have loved!)
