A few friends and I stopped in a couple months ago (on a Friday) for the first time. It's a big space, plenty of tables and chairs and much to my surprise, PULL TABS and KARAOKE! Drink prices were decent. They have a food menu with basic bar snacks, hamberders and sandwiches. They had $2 "mystery shots" which were literally just random Pucker flavors with nothing else mixed in. Don't buy these, people. The waitress for our table was attentive to our group of 7, and she was friendly the entire night. She didn't mind splitting the bills up, either. We had a great time singing karaoke with the other patrons (the place got pretty busy after 10pm). I'd definitely stop in again for drinks and good company.

    2 bucks NICE

I have been there over the years and been through the reinvention. It worked because more people frequent it now than before. This location used to be called the Stop Spot and had pretty good pizza at that time. Current Review............Great service by the staff, the waitress checks on you with high frequency and is friendly. They do have plenty of seating at the bar and a couple of high top tables to sit at. Most of the seating is at table that are way too close together and the chairs are always hitting each other, not arranged well at all. Bottles of Miller High Life are only 2 bucks there..........ah MHL a bright, bubbly beer in a bottle the Champagne of beers : ) On the last visit is was a Sunday evening and also a karaoke night, but the only one doing the singing was the host. Not one patron held the mic. An ok little bar, more like a relaxed HP bar than a Ferndale trendy Ferndale bar. So giving it an "A-OK"

Incredible burgers, great drinks, and that perfect old-school dive bar vibe you just can't fake. It's the kind of place that feels comfortable the second you walk in. The atmosphere is always solid, and the staff is amazing--friendly, attentive, and clearly proud of the place. Whether you're grabbing a burger, having a few drinks, or just soaking in the history, Ye Olde Saloon never disappoints. If you're in downtown Royal Oak and haven't been here, you're seriously missing out.

Both mine and my ladiy's burger were ordered medium rare; what we received resembled two NHL hockey pucks, only slightly warmer on a sloppy, sogggy bun. UNEDIBLE. Gross. We showed the barkeep and she agreed to have th re-made. Fast forward another 20 minutes and they were over-cooked again. I haven't experienced this here ever before. Something seemed off. Caitlyn, the barkeep took care of our drinks for the inconvenience. Upon leaving, I saw the "cook" outside smoking a cigarette and sipping off a flask. I love this place, but if your kitchen staff can't hold it together, maybe it's time to look at other options. Thanks to Caitlyn for being as accommodating as possible. Next time I'll order something no-brainer, like some tatertots.

We didn't order cocktails, and the burgers took over half an hour to arrive on a not-crowded Tuesday. What we didn't expect was to be completely blown away. From the second we walked in, the bartender greeted us like we were regulars, and that alone sold us on sitting at the bar. Best decision. We're bar sitters through and through, and between the bartender, a friendly regular who scooted over for us, and literally every person we interacted with, the vibe was unmatched. I worked in the service industry in a former life, so I know how rare it is to find a place where everyone is friendly. There's usually at least one Debbie Downer. Not here. No rushing, great recommendations, and zero feeling like you're "that couple" taking up bar space. Drinks and beer selection were solid, but let's talk food because ambiance and service are only half the equation. We started with the coney dog egg rolls and... wow. Epic. Unique. Immediately set the bar high. Then we ordered the fish and chips and the short rib sandwich. The fish was perfectly breaded, the remoulade was on point, and those skinny fries were dangerous. But the star of the show? The short rib sandwich. Holy shit. I don't normally eat onions or horseradish, but somehow this sandwich converted me. The caramelized onions weren't overpowering, the sauce wasn't spicy, and everything just worked. We literally woke up the next morning talking about how we need it again. The bartender filled us in on happy hour and all the food options, and we're already planning our return. Total hidden gem on Woodward. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great Saturday night!

Louis is the best Detroit style pizza in Metro Detroit…read more The crust is soft and doughy in the best way possible but still retains a nice crunch on the edge, the amount of cheese is generous, and the toppings are almost marinaded in the deliciously sweet pizza sauce. The result is a mouthwatering pie-like pizza that you're not getting anywhere else. If you want a lot of topping options, Louis isn't for you, it's far more limited than competitors, but I would argue they perfect the basics. The interior is charming in a straight out of the 1970s sort of way. The dining area can get pretty loud but the noise level is friendly and it's great being in a full restaurant surrounded by other people having a good time. There's a strong community feeling you don't get in sterile, corporate chains or local takeout spots. Despite my overwhelming praise for the pizzas they make, I also have to be honest. In the most charitable way possible, I hope that they can take some of their much deserved recent success and reinvest it back into the business because the front of house staff is regularly in over their heads. You can safely add 15 minutes to whatever time they quote you when placing your order. I had one order that was close to 30 minutes late and another that was missing all the extra sauces. As a result, pickup orders are very frustrating. The other criticism I have is that the parking lot is very crowded and routinely spills out into the surrounding streets. The lot size is limited, so not much they can do but they could work with the city to repave the lot and color label certain areas. I hope more people check out Louis. It is a gem.
