Great service and delicious burgers! Met a friend for dinner and drinks and Lauren was our server. She was quick to take drink and food orders and kept checking on us throughout the evening! I had only been here once before about a year ago but I think this place may become our regular place to meet! We both had burgers, I had the Thursday burger special, and my friend had the Build a burger. Both burgers were cooked as ordered and mine was one of the best I've had. The last menus I saw on Yelp for the Hideout were over 3 years old so I added pics of the current menu, cocktails, shots and beers on tap along with pics of our burgers! This place is spot on!! The wait staff/bartendar (Sue) rocks!! Is there b4 you even know you want service! Great place to watch games as they have a lot of TV's and turn it up so you can hear it! Never had a bad app or meal here ... just got loaded fries and they were spot on! Lots of chili and cheese and fries were not soggy ! Very slow service when it did not appear to be busy. The server admitted they were new but I was surprised that they didn't have any training or shadowing. - Over 30 minutes between sitting down to ordering - No refills until I asked - Forgotten items, especially the soup we saw sitting at the kitchen window... - Failed to leave a pen with the bill (and it took over 5 minutes for the server to come back so we could have one) We constantly showed grace and still tipped 20%+, but the food wasn't worth the hassle read more

We went in for lunch I got the fish and chips The food was very hot and fresh the chips were super hot i always hate when the cook serves cold food as a result of waiting for something else to cook and let me tell you he timed everything perfectly. I went for dinner with a friend. From the start, there was a cigarette smell to the place - but I saw No one smoking. Our waitress was great, the burgers were nice and greasy. The place was busy, but not crowded (I felt comfortable being at to sit away from people). Staff and customers were not wearing masks. On the way out, I found out the cause of the smell - they have a separate room for smokers. The only door is get in or out is through the restaurant - and no open windows or fans in the smoking room, causing smoke to come in the restaurant. read more

I finally made it to the Hideout after hearing about it for several years. Clearly a trusted hangout for locals, this bar is clean, efficient, and you can tell the Owners re-invest in the business. I'll have to go with 3 Stars (I may update this) after a follow up visit. We ordered a pizza, and it tasted like, and appeared that there was no sauce on the pizza (!). I showed it to the bartender who said "yeah, sure doesn't look like there is any, do you want me to get a side of sauce to pour on top?" No - I'll pass, the other thing we noticed is that the veggies weren't cooked. Like, at all. Almost as if they were added afterwards. Food and beer selections are pretty good for being a dive bar. Only irritant is that the bartender (on almost every visit) claims she is too busy and doesn't have time or cash to cash in the Keno or scratch off tickets they sell. There is even a sign posted that she has 99 orders and Keno ain't one. I could see if it was a packed house, but there are usually about 10 people in the bar. My hockey team has been coming here after every home game for five years (when table availability permits) and today was our last day. We had a number of gift cards that they refused to honor because they said they didn't know if they were actually from the Hideout or not. I don't know what that even means. This was after we told them we had gift cards from winning trivia before we ordered. The owner didn't care that we come to his establishment 15+ times a year with 10-15 people for 2-3 hours of food and drinks. He affirmatively said he no longer wants our business. Over $35 in gift cards. That speaks volumes. No wonder they can't keep staff here longer than two weeks. If you do go to the Hideout, ask for Annie. She is the best waitress we have ever had there and we all rejoice whenever we are in her section. We had a waitress literally spill drinks and food all over us once and management didn't say anything about it for over an hour while it was going on. Par for the course I guess. Wish i could give 0 stars. The food was ok. Lets talk about the service number 38 no name given she was rude and horrible. She was cussing ubder her breath about another table. My husband also order a labatt draft and it didjt taste right he had 1 drink of it so he ordered a bottle instead and pushed that one a side. When our bill came he noticed the draft was still on there so he said something her response was yup u took a drink and no one had said anything about it. He never drank the dang beer. With both of us being servers and bartenders we were in shock. We paid the exact amount of our bill and left she got no tip. Been doing some work in the Clawson area and we stopped in here for a beer one night. It is not a dive bar at all but really nice inside. Just a smaller type tavern with good TVs. Beer was cold and food was good at reasonable prices. I would go back again when in the area. read more

Even though i gave this place a 3 i have been many times. Their specials are very good both food and drink but you have to know them and let the staff know about them because they have no idea. The Hideout is my favorite bar, without a doubt, and here is why. 1. $2 23oz (yep, that's right, 23oz!) drafts (Miller/Bud) all the time. Not just happy hour, not just games, ALL THE TIME. Find me a cheaper beer special, try it. No luck? Exactly. They also have $5 pitchers all the time as well and shots are cheap. 2. Okay the tv's need a little updating, but I can put up with that during a game because, $2 double drafts! Seriously though, during a game this place has a great atmosphere. The crowd is rowdy, but friendly. Get there early though because it fills up fast and seats are hard to come by. 3. It's a "Cheers" bar. Go there enough, and they'll know your name - and so will other patrons. There's about 4 groups of drinkers between 25 - 35 and we're there weeknights. We all have gotten to know each other, shoot pool and buy each other shots. It's a good atmosphere. 4. The food is awesome. As far as bar food goes, there's is pretty excellent. They also have a special. For $5 you get a sandwich/burger, a side and a 12oz draft beer --- yeah beat that! Appetizers are good too, and honestly I've never had anything bad there. 5. You can smoke there. This is a true smoker's bar. If you don't like cigarettes, DO NOT GO. Plain and simple. There are plenty of other establishments you people have taken over. This place has so much smoke in it that even if you made it a non - smoking bar you could inhale the smoke residue left behind for probably another 20 years - at least. However, if you do go there and the smoke bothers you, sit toward the front (the 14 mile part). It's more open and less smoking. THe dingy old part is the real dirty part and the most fun. 6. The waitresses treat you right. They are all skinny blondes and they all look the same and I still get them confused, but they are quick with your drinks, your tab or whatever else you need and never have attitude. They get to know you and will serve you quicker on game nights if you've been a good customer. They'll also hold a table for you if you ask nicely. 7. $2 BEERS PEOPLE! read more

The Hideout is about the best argument for anti-smoking legislation in Michigan. When I smoked for years, this was such a great place. Cheap drinks, decent bar food, one of the first digital juke-boxes around. I didn't notice the smoke as I was lighting up my own, but my wife always made comments about how smoky it was. When I quit, this became painfully obvious. After the bar was renovated a couple years ago, we had great expectations that the ventilation would be improved. Sadly, it isn't any better. I will say the new front room was a great addition. This is a great place to catch a game or just to go for beers. They did such a great job renovating this place as far as the atmosphere. And you can still get a tall boy of Miller light for next to nothing. Yet, we have nicknamed this place "The Smokeout" because it's smokier than any other bar around the D. If Michigan joins the rest of the progressive states like Ohio and Indiana (lol) and passes the no-smoking law, we will literally become regulars, as we live down the street. This is a great bar with a lot of opportunity (cheap booze, great service, pool table, etc.). But for now, other bars in town are enjoying my beer money and I am enjoying healthier lungs.. read more

I've had numerous things from the menu and I've never really been disappointed. The woman behind the bar was unbelievably rude & very sarcastic, I don't know why she is working at a job she seems to hate so much. We had 1 drink, paid by visa debit, & left. I purposely left no tip,they should have tipped us for having to deal with her nasty attitude! When I checked my account they had helped themselves to a $4 tip! I called & asked for the owner who I was told was not in & spoke to Trina who said she was the manager,after explaining to her what had happened she said she would check Friday night's receipts & get back to me. She later left me a message saying she couldn't find the receipt so she couldn't do anything about it & said I could call back if I wanted to, of course I did,3 times! Each time I was sent to voice mail, I left a message telling her I was opening a dispute through my bank which I did & was refunded my money. Whoever did this needs to be fired, what a crook! I also wonder how often this is done to other people who might not notice it. I would have liked to bring this to the owners attention & I did call a few more times but the owner is never in, Hmmm? After going to the Lotus for a year or so, I felt daring and needed a change of pace. Hide Out is just down the street from the Lotus, and always seems to be packed, so I checked it out. I didn't realize how packed it was by just passing by. It was literally shoulder-to-shoulder. Anyone that knows me knows I absolutely hate that. I like a crowd, don't get me wrong, but this place on a Saturday night is just insanity. The selection of beers was wanting. Though I could find my token beer, Labatt, they didn't have much else that I'd drink. I absolutely refuse to drink Bud, and this seems like all that anyone liked in the place. The crowd consisted of blondes and pretty boys. I don't know how else to explain it. It was.... not exactly Wild Woody's, but not too far off from it either. I felt a bit uncomfortable based on the fact that it was leaning toward "meat market," and I'm definitely not into that. Honestly I can't think of a single great thing about the place, but I can't knock it either. Beers are cheap. Okay there's one thing good I can say about it. If you want a bar in Clawson that you can smoke in, this would be one of them.
