Dr. Secrest is extraordinarily gifted, intuitive, and knowledgeable. I have had chiropractic care since I was 31 and pregnant with my first born. My experience with other chiropractors has been okay and baseline effective. Dr. Secrest is without question medically intuitive and never fails to have an amazing insight as to what needs help in order for me to have better function and less pain. Dr. Secrest and I met after I was involved in a high speed hit and run auto accident on the 101. My lane of traffic was crawling along at idle when I was reared ended at full speed, then the person took off. My right bicep muscle tore horizontally across, while both of left and right arms' the bicep tendons split vertically. 70% of my muscles in my upper back were torn as well as my groin and wrist. When I came through his door I could barely walk. I was unable to dress myself or take care of myself without extreme struggle. Every bit of life was a challenge. Today I can function pretty normally with only occasional "ghosts" of pain that show up from time to time in the different injury sites. I am 1, 000 miles away from the train wreck I was when I walked into his clinic! To add to the challenge for Dr. Secrest I was born with Ehler's -Danlos Syndrome. (A collagen mal-synthesis disorder that causes hyper mobility of the joints and tendons and excess scar tissue post injury.) On impact I could feel internal surgical incisions from old C-Sections tear. I could feel all my injuries tearing when adrenaline took over to keep me going for the next hour or so. The next day was HELL! Covid showed up only four months after the incident leaving me with NO HELP with every day living with injuries. This situation prolonged my healing and made me a tough case for all my doctors. Sadly, I did not meet Dr. Secrest until about a month and a half after the accident. Anyone who is on a treadmill of slow healing really should let Dr. Secrest analyze what is going on with them. His intuitive insight is far out of the scope of average doctors! I've been regularly going to Dr Dan for almost 10 years now. This is not a crack everyone in similar ways, turn n burn patients type of place. He is intuitive and talented. A week ago, I injured my lower back and SI joint. I was in such excruciating pain that my waist and hip were "stuck" and I could hardly move and sit. Being new to Scottsdale, I didn't know of any chiropractors in town. However, I did my research and found Dr. Dan Secrest of Secrest Family Chiropractor. Dr. Secrest was able to see me immediately. He spent a considerable amount of time during my first visit, diagnosing the issues I had, and immediately started treating me using various techniques, which included trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, massager, manual adjustment and kinesio taping. He also showed me exercises to do on my own. After my second visit with him, the pain was reduced drastically, and miraculously, my body was almost back to normal! I was able to sit and move around with very little discomfort, and I didn't need to take any more pain medication. I'm so disappointed. Dan and his colleagues did a decent job at addressing my chiropractic issues with the 3 appointments I had with his practice. I came in for another visit today when Dan was working with another client. I was sitting at the front waiting to be seen when I overheard a rather disheartening conversation between him and another client. They were discussing issues regarding certain members of the LGBT community, in which Dr. Dan expressed his disapproval of minority sexual orientations and gender identities. He went on to cite pseudoscientific beliefs like "chemicals in the water" and "birth control" as reasons for the increase in people identifying as homosexual, bisexual, pansexual etc. while specifically targeting transgender youth as being victim to the effects of the aforementioned pseudoscience. Normally, I don't care what political opinions my doctors hold. However, I happened to overhear something that made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe in his office. As a gay person with an ambiguous gender identity, safe spaces are paramount. This practice is not a safe space. If you or a family member identify as LGBT+, this is not the chiropractor for you. read more

I began seeing Dr.Secrest (Dr.Dan) in late 2013 while 7 months pregnant. He was able to immediately relieve my mid-back pain with the usual spinal decompression methods by dropping down the center of the exam table to comfortably accommodate my belly. Much to my surprise, over the next couple of sessions, he also successfully alleviated the extremely painful pressure in my pelvis caused by the ligaments loosening. This was done using KST or Koren Specific Technique, which involves a gun-looking apparatus applied to pressure points. This was not at all painful and over various other appointments, I have felt in turns relaxed, emotional, and giddy in response to that treatment method. Dr. Dan and his staff maintain a professional, caring, upbeat and pleasantly casual atmosphere. I continue to have maintenance adjustments done as well as periodically see one of the licensed therapists. I highly recommend seeing one of these therapists over a bargain Groupon massage, although their pricing is competitive to begin with. The soft tissue work or massage offered at each appointment is another detail that sets this office apart. I've just not found quite this combination with any other Chiropracter. Went to Dr. Seacrest last Thursday. I had been hiking every day for 5 miles and Sunday morning I could barely get out of bed with severe lower back pain. I could barely walk. Dr. Seacrest did a full work up on me. Made some adjustments and did some deep tissue massage using electric massagers. Felt much better leaving the session but still very sore. I returned on Monday for a similar treatment and then again on Tuesday and Friday. I am now 100% back in business and feel great. Dr. Seacrest is a very competent, professional, and caring practitioner and his entire staff is very friendly. He also showed me in great detail several stretch's he recommended. I would highly recommend Dr. Seacrest for anyone looking for the highest quality Chiropractic care. He is the best! I am soooo late in writing this review. If YELP had more than five stars, I would give them. I have been going to Dr Dan for two years now with chronic back and neck pain. I had a decent chiropractor that left the area and then tried some awful ones, did steroid injections, physical therapy with no relief. Dr Dan corrected a low back issue that was keeping me from sleeping and affecting my life, when others could not help me. I still suffer from back spasms, but they are much less often and Dr Dan gets me back on me feet in just a few visits. My son has been seeing Dr. Dan since he was 1, he jumps up on the table and knows exactly what to do. My son is so experienced with the process he even lets Dr. Dan know when he "missed a spot" my son was instantiate that there was one more thing, and sure enough Dr. Dan re-checked him and right where my son was pointing his finger was where there was something that needed to be adjusted.
