We were greeted so warmly by the gentleman at the reception desk and he was helpful and informative. He really made an impression on us. Give that man a raise! The lobby area had seating as well as room to gather and/or meet and greet. The theater itself is very intimate but not tiny. The seats were comfortable and the sight lines seem to be good from anywhere in the house. The film Surviving Bokator was fantastic, and there was room on the stage for a live demonstration of the Cambodian martial art of Bokator.

Anyway That's not the only reason I'm updating this, because a good deal has changed since my last review. Firstly the Monday Night Club with A.D. Amorosi that I mentioned previously is now at National Mechanics, proving yet again that they have just about everything. And also Movie Monday has gotten just a little bit better because if you show up before 7 you get free popcorn and beer (PBR but still!). Overall I do have to drop The Balcony down one star, because other then Movie Monday, and Skeletor's Karaoke Gong Show (with Rock Band!), I can't think of a real good reason to go to it beyond drinking at an actual Troc show. While it does bring in some decent shows on a local level, the sound quality can be pretty bad. and it has the second smallest stage that I've seen in Philadelphia (Tritone will always be #1). But at least the two main reasons are filled with big time fun!

The timing made sense and we were able to eat alongside the murder mystery so it felt like a true dinner and a show experience. My show was the 30's theme and it felt just like the movie Clue with Tim Curry. The ticket prices were more than fair considering how much you get with that ticket. I can't recommend enough, we will definitely go back!

My spouse will tell you that I love to ham it up and the Murder Mystery Company allowed me plenty of opportunities as I was chosen as on the of the suspect characters. Our actors greeted us to the event in character and really set the tone for the evening. We ordered drinks and salads were brought out right before the first act. The meal was coursed nicely so I did not feel rushed to finish before the next course. Our chicken parmesan and salmon were prepared well and I thought a great value for $75 for a 2 hour show and dinner. Will definitely be attending again!

I visited Fright Factory this year on the final Saturday (the busiest night)…read morebefore Halloween and it is well worth the money, especially when you can go alone or at most a group of two. The scare actors timed their approaches perfectly and scared the living !@#$%^&* out of me more than ten times. I was scared out of my mind at one point and thought about leaving, but I had to continue because, well, I paid for a VIP ticket! At one point, I could not see in front of me and I felt so discombobulated that I wanted to sit and calm myself down. Right after I left the haunt, I felt really nauseous. That's how scary this was. This haunt is THE BEST HAUNT IN PHILLY 2025. Eastern State Penitentiary was good. Lincoln Mill was better. But this haunt... jeez, it's on another level. Nobody's paying me to say any of this. I like going to places without someone else swaying my opinion. The scenes are really good and well thought out. Lincoln Mill tried copying one of the scenes at Fright Factory but it pales by comparison to Fright Factory. You will be scared out of your mind when the monster approaches you in it. Big props to the creepy clowns. They make Art the Clown look normal by comparison. One clown in particular had this way of approaching me that was hella creepy. I was freaked out! I timed this haunt on my smart watch at 25 minutes from start to finish. It is described as three parts/acts/sections according to their web site and other reviews. There's more to it than just thinking about the haunt as sections. If you submerge yourself into any one room for too long, you will see, as I did, how scary that could be. I was hightailing it out of certain areas as fast as I could as the monsters chased after me, sometimes for long corridors before they let up. You're looking at a much longer haunt stepwise than most other haunts. According to my smart watch, I experienced almost 4 minutes of 127+ bpm heart rate (that's super high intensity), about 11.5 minutes of 99-127 bpm heart rate (high intensity), and 11 minutes of 71-99 bpm moderate intensity. I'm an elite level athlete (#6 in the world in yoga asana competition), so your experience may differ. If you suffer from any heart or breathing conditions, be sure to get that all well-maintained before you enter this scary haunt.

The play I saw was very interesting (the kind of play that I need to sit with and maybe read to process), and the facilities are great: not a bad seat in the theater, cafe in the lobby, plenty of bathrooms... All in all, it's a great place to see interesting theater. Philly is lucky to have it. I'm sure I'll be back.

Not sure why the show started at 7 PM since it was a one act, ending by 9 PM? Nice snack bar and good facilities, and who can blame them for passing the hat after the show with so many cutbacks to nonprofits?
