Needed a live plant for a birthday gift last night. Was headed to another large hardware store but took a wrong turn:( I then realized there's Ace, the neighborhood place! After a stressful commute home I wondered in to a relaxing setting as soon as I walked in. I went to the garden area, they had exactly what I needed, & more! It was the perfect stop, along the way home, full of plants, garden decor and even a birthday card, at the perfect price! This little store has been a life-saver for the many years I've lived in this town. I can't tell you how many times them being so close has been a godsend when needing a quick replacement for a busted fixture, a new house key, flowerpot, etc. This location is always super clean and nicely presented. Had a plumbing problem with a toilet and visited Ace to get some parts, first day spoke to James who gave me friendly guidance on the quality of the parts to buy. The project became bigger on the second day as I had caused a few more issues than I had solved . I Went back to Ace and spoke to Jim who really knew his $*it (no pun intended.) Jim walked me through all the possible reasons for the new problems and patiently watched a video I had shot of the new damage I had caused. He was able to correctly diagnose the problem, steer me to the right parts and even instructed me how to install them. This has been by Ace for years. Recent ownership and management has destroyed a perfectly good shopping experience. The love plants at entrance and garden center are half dead. The store is dirty and disorganized including aisles blocked. The last 2 visits it gets worse. The air conditioning was not working. Sale items improperly signed. Check outs blocked and crowded. No helpers on the sales floor. The " manager" had a dirty Ace shirt on and we had to wait a long time for him at checkout to resolve a problem Shopping carts dirty and not in orderly fashion at the entrance. The center of the store and seasonal area looked junkie and disorganized. It's sad it was at one time a very nice place to shop. They have lost this customer... it's sad they had my local support. read more

I love my Ace... I bring my business here all the time Vs Home Depot or Lowe's, but today, "KIM" working as a cashier belittled a brown customer in front of everyone in line and was extremely rude! Saying people will think he is stealing because he wanted a second can of a product and asked if she could charge him for another while he ran to get it before leaving. The customer said, "please charge me for the item, I'll pay and leave everything here, I'll grab the second can and show you before taking my things to leave", and she wasn't having it. I get there's store policies, and it's not what you say, it's how you say it... and she was raising her voice and her tone was extremely rude. Our turn came up and my husband and I were greeted with the same exact rudeness and unprofessional manner. We were simply returning a carpet cleaner, and instead of kindly saying, "Oh, let me call someone for you", we were met with "You can't bring that here! I don't know how to do that!" And rolled her eyes at me! My husband jumped in and asked what her problem was? She just kept saying, "Whatever, Whatever..." Then greeted the next Caucasian customer nicely... Never have I ever dealt with such a nasty person in my town! Look, I get it, everyone has a bad day, but damn, ever heard of customer service? I can't say it was racially motivated, but a coincidence that two brown customers in a row had to face her wrath of nastiness! ACE please remove "Kim" from the front, or anywhere she might be in contact with people and have to at least pretend to be nice. I might have to take a break from you and bring my business elsewhere :( On another note, thank you to the young man who helped us with the carpet runner and the carpet cleaner, and the young lady who helped us this morning ringing us up and helping us with our returns. Ace Hardware in Oakley has always been our go to store when we need supplies quickly... always helpful and friendly. Today June 11, 2024 (morning) was the worst experience we have had in any store for quite awhile... the tool service guy gets an A because he was busy helping customers in his dept but the girls working fail. Especially the girl working the floor. All the customers looked lIke us wondering around seeking out help. We needed help in the paint department ...we walked thru each isle and finally found 3 ladies in front 1 filling the soda, 1 cashier and 1 that we asked for help shaking our paint as she walked by, never slowing down or looking at us... we think she called for someone to the paint department as she walked away. No one came so we left our paint, brushes and other item in our cart and walked out... read more

Ace Hardware is a fantastic hardware store with excellent customer service and fair pricing. I always go here first before I head to Home Depot or Lowes. Sometimes, they are out of stock of certain items because they are such a small store, so I have to make the inevitable trip to the big box stores. I love how involved they are in the local community and how they keep their store super clean and organized. Their employees seem genuinely grateful for their jobs and have helped me out so thoughtfully so many times. For instance, when I needed to install an outside porch light, one of their employees literally walked me through all of the tools I would need, including giving me a detailed overview of what I would need to do to successfully complete the installation. Everyone here is so friendly and their service is top-notch. Another time, I needed some tools for drip irrigation repair, and they were there to help me out with that too. The older gentleman found the parts I needed quickly and gave me his undivided attention. Normally, when I go to Home Depot or Lowes, it's nearly impossible to find anyone to help me, but not here. During COVID-19, they've accommodated customers by providing curbside delivery. They always answer their phones and go out of their way to help out. I am so grateful to have Ace Hardware in my hometown, and if you ever need something for home repairs or landscaping, come here and support this business. They are great! read more

Found exactly what I needed after first trying Lowe's and HD. Needed a 9/16" threading bit and neither of the big stores carried. Found out AFTER 20 mins of chasing a staff for help. When I got to OAKLEY ACE, inwas immediately greeted by staff and pointed me in the dept i needed. Helped me find exact drill bit and was out in 10 mins. One person working the registers and seems like she was new, trying her best to do her job all while 3 clowns (Moe-Larry-Curly) stood at the front door laughing, talking loud, and chopping it up real good. When she called on the radio for help, None came to assist, one even looked over and just threw his hands in the air like (I dunno). Finally the supervisor ( I guess he was the supervisor ) came out from the back to assist and helped in getting the line that started to build up behind me moving. Ya'll definitely need more training on being professional. Guys, I like having faun as much as the next slacker, but next time make sure all is well business wise on the floor and take the fun and jokes to the back off the floor. That looked real bad. 2 stars only because the chick at the register keep a professional manner in the moment of instability, was very apologetic, and thanked me for being patient. Ace has always been a great place to get all different items. My husband gets tons of car parts there as well as many other house hold items. They really have a wide selection. Today 6/3 I went in to get a couple items, first time coming to this location. I had a little confusion on the offers on my ace app as I had used one at a Brentwood location on an online pick up but it was out of stock so it got canceled and I wasn't able to use that offer again so I used a different offer and I had asked the manager Buae or Bow I think his name was about the offer and if it gets returned to my account if an order gets canceled. He gave a smart remark and I ignored it. Little did I know I bought the wrong gazebo and I ended up having to exchange it for the right one so I ended up losing my offer I just used which was my last one but I returned it and bought the correct one and I ended up owing 10$ and I was confused because it was an even exchange for the same price item just different color. I asked the manager why I had to pay 10$ if it was the same price and he came back with "I already told you when you do a return you get that reward back in cash which doesn't sound correct if I was getting my 10$ reward back I would have got 10$ back in cash not had to pay 10$ so that was confusing. That's not how rewards work it's not free cash you can get back if you return the item. Ace isn't just giving away free money. He went off with more rude remarks and I had to just had to ignore him but he was absolutely the most rudest person I've ever met in my life. His two coworkers were absolutely embarrassed and apologizing for his behavior and how he acted during a simple question I was confused about. I won't be coming back. I'll be continuing to take my business elsewhere where I get better customer service. As a manager that's not how you treat customers! read more

I actually made a special trip here to buy a top of the line ironing board! I couldn't find one anywhere else! It's something I will always have and worth the $$. Of course I bought the new pad and a smaller sleeve one as well! It's the little things peeps, the little things that make me happy! This is an upscale Ace. It has it's own Carhartt section. I've never seen one before. They also carry high end dog food and nicer fixtures. It's very clean and every aisle is perfect! Coming from a person with OCD that's a compliment! Nothing is out of place which gives me peace! They give popcorn in cute little bags on your way out. They definitely go the extra mile to make you feel good. Their customer service is on point. My go to! Avoid the big box stores that can't help you or are always out of what you're looking for. Got my string trimmer and blower here and even pointed me to the pre mixed gas that extends your warranty. Always have someone ask if i need help and are very knowledgeable. Rent the carpet cleaners here too(thank my dog) and they are always clean and work great. I always check here first and pick up my stuff for around the house. read more

We just moved in to a beautiful new house and of course with moving in to a new place, little new and exciting tasks pop up and that's where such great places like this come in so handy. They just opened up this place off fourth st, its 2 stories and full of everything you can possibly think of including spices for cooking, coffee makers and things I did not even know hardware stores carry. I was blown away with how exceptionally friendly and helpful the employees were and how they went well out of there way to help me find exactly what I was looking for. A particular lady helping me even opened a box to try a particular product out to see how it works (being it was a little confusing for both of us to figure out) before I bought it...truly 5 star service and to think it's just coming from a local hardware store. This is definitely not in the best location ever, but the staff is wonderful as it gets! I work in the area and needed to have a couple keys made. Because my job required I keep about 15+ keys, I make sure they're "coded" with different pictures... so I have the specialty keys. The day I went in I was told I couldn't have them match because one of the keys was a "special" key and there weren't any funky ones in that size. However, the gentleman helping me was kind enough to attempt to rig one for me anyhow. As it turned out, he was doing a custom job on a funky key for me. I think his intentions were definitely in the right place, but the key definitely didn't work once I got back to my office. Immediately I called to find out what to do next. Thankfully, Sam got on the phone with me and actually came to my office to get the incorrect keys and the proper ones to make me a new set. He went out of his way to make sure this lady was happy.
