A few months back very early in the morning saw one of their cars on the 52 east who could not stay in their lane. This individual was swerving around. I attempted to contact mgmt privately regarding this with no response. Heard other rumblings in the community about unsafe driving from this company, so thought I would share. Hands down this is the best security company in SD. There are two different security guards that have been working in my community for the past few years. Jackson and YD they both go above and beyond to keep our community safe. They are both very respectful gentlemen. I know when they are on shift everything is going to be safe 100%. I've watched Jackson patrol traffic and make sure delivery people get to where they need to be. I've seen YD close the pool every night and everyone respects both of them. I used to be scared at night but knowing YD is here I don't feel scared anymore. I've watched him checking every single person at our front entrance. Both guys are amazing. It's a true Blessing having guards like them. These guys deserve some recognition!!!! read more

I don't usually write negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others--do not hire this company for any security services. Over the weekend, I parked in a guest spot at a friend's apartment complex around 9 PM on Saturday. When I returned just three hours later at midnight, my car was gone. A Security First guard was stationed right next to where I had parked, so I approached him immediately. The moment I questioned him about why my car was towed before the designated grace period (3 AM), he seemed flustered--almost shocked that I had come back so soon. He denied being involved, but it was clear he wasn't being truthful. Rather than argue, I just wanted to get my car back, so I asked if he had the towing company's contact information. His response? Completely dismissive. He claimed it "wasn't his responsibility" and told me it was probably Western Towing but that we should just "Google it." We did, but multiple locations came up. When I returned to confirm which location had my car, he rolled down his window and said, 'I'm very busy, I don't have time for this right now.' Thankfully, the non-emergency police line was far more helpful. They located my car immediately--something a security guard should have been able to do instead of scrolling through Instagram on his phone. A few hundred dollars later, I had my car back. The one-star rating is for both the guard's complete lack of professionalism and his supervisor's dismissive attitude when I called to report the issue. As I'm getting to know my neighbors & other Residents I hear nothing but complaints & stories about the S.Guards. So this is a follow-up to my initial review. The so-called manager reached out to me to tell me he would like to speak with me, and then I never heard from him after 3 follow-up emails to him. Just another example of their poor customer service. I'm going to reach out to the property management company who hires them and voice my complaints because maybe they need to look into hiring a new security company, because it's obvious this one isn't doing their job. I wanted to give a huge appreciation to Officer Alecia Ford for her excellent people skills & in helping to keep our community safe. Officer Ford is friendly, personable & compassionate, yet she also maintains a posture of being someone you don't want to mess with. By that, I just mean that she is respectful & kind toward the public, yet she is great at enforcing rules & keeping those who are trying to shop, dine or receive services safe, in a way that projects confidence & authority, yet also kindness & respect. I was dining with my friend & sitting outside at a table after our meal, when I saw a young seemingly homeless guy walking by. Having a family member who used to be homeless, my heart went out to this guy who appeared to be struggling. Shortly after he walked by me & my friend, Officer Ford escorted him back the other way. She did not have her hands on him, nor did he seem upset. When she came back toward my direction without him, I asked her if he had done something wrong. I was just curious. She replied that he hadn't, but that he couldn't be hanging out in that area (or something to that effect), so she walked him toward the direction that would be okay for him to go. I was touched by her kindness & respect shown to this young man, as she enforced the rules. I see her occasionally when I'm in the Ralph's shopping center area & often when I'm at Ralph's itself. She is very observant, vigilant & also very friendly. She is great at her job & I feel she deserves to be recognized for it. I hope she remains in this area, but if she gets assigned to a different area, I have no doubt that she will be well-liked & appreciated there as well. read more

I can't express enough on how much I appreciate the quality of service I get from Security First. When I was first looking for a new security company I was managing one Apartment complex in a not so great area. I called and Dave was very helpful . He showed up the next day went over the needs we had has a community. I worked with Dave back and fourth for weeks until my upper management allowed me to give them a try . Once they started I feel in love with all the staff members they have and them as a company. Anytime I need help or had issues no matter how big or small, they all were very prompt in helping me. Even in the time as a property manager I'm calling freaking out over something so small everyone was polite and calm in helping me. I truly love this company so much after recently leaving that property I was overseeing and starting over with a commercial property management company. After starting my position I learned no one was happy with the services from the patrol/security company they had been using they felt they weren't getting what they wanted or felt they deserved. I reached back out to Dave for Security First Service right away. As always he was on-top of it. I switch the 8 accounts we had with another company over to them. Reem was also so amazing and came up and meet directly with the owner of the company to go over his needs and what it is he wanting to ensure they were providing the best service they can for us. Whenever there were issues with transients outside my workout place, their officers were always responsive and prompt to handle the situation swiftly whenever I called. I was harassed by my own house at my local shopping center. Lt. Spencer and Dillard came up to my all angrily just because I was just standing and do nothing wrong, I was waiting for a family member to pick me up, this was at 8:45am in the morning, the shopping center was open! They said this center is for "customers only". Yeah duh weirdos, I live next door, and shop at the grocery store every day! It's not illegal to stand in a public place! Then to top it off, they kept grilling me, why is your family member not picking you up at your house, why this, what that? It's none of their freaking business! Total weirdos and harassment by underpaid mall uneducated cops. I wanted my family member to pick me up at my RIGHT NEXT DOOR to my house center as I live in a large building with zero parking, so I was going to jump in their car and show them the secret street parking spots! Our community hired Security First. For the first few weeks, things were fine. Then, one night a new guard shows up, heavily intoxicated, screaming and yelling at someone else on the phone at 2am, waking everyone up. When one of our residents attempted to ask him to quiet down and leave the property, the security guard started a fight with him. This is the OLD Business address. They are located in El Cajon now... I've been using Security First for my business for several years now. They provide me with round the clock, armed guard service. All of the guards I've had at my location have been very competent and have been able to handle any situation that has come up. Thankfully, just having armed guards on duty, is a big deterrent to would be, trouble makers. I've also hired a couple of the guards for private event security, where they have been plain-clothes. Our company has been with Security First for a couple years. They have been very responsive to our needs. If there is a problem I can depend on Lance Ruiz, COO, and/or Travis Taylor Ops Mgr, to resolve the issue and make it right. We have both a standing guard and a roving night patrol. Our current guards, Robert Smith and Francisco Arreola, are observant, conscientious and professional. Our roving guard, Francisco writes daily activity reports each time he stops by the building. Francisco's reports are very concise spelling out his observations. He checks that doors are locked, that no one is loitering in/around the building, he reports if outside lights are burned out, and reports the make /model and license plate # of cars that are parked in our parking lot after hours, etc. I believe that Security First does its best to provide it's clients with quality security services. read more
