Every single item I stored was brand new and still in sealed boxes--furniture, mattresses, everything. Termites destroyed all of my wooden furniture, and rats chewed through the rest and urinated on brand new mattresses. I've lost thousands of dollars because of this facility's negligence. Instead of owning up to the problem, management has been completely unprofessional and is now falsely claiming I stored food in the unit. Let's be clear--I would never store food in a storage unit. I store my food in my pantry at home, where it belongs. This accusation is both ridiculous and insulting. Even after the clear and extensive damage caused by the infestation, they refused to refund even a single month of rent. Based on the other reviews I've seen, it's obvious this place is run by people who are purely money-hungry and completely lacking in customer care or integrity. I would hate for anyone else to go through what I've experienced. If you value your belongings and peace of mind, go somewhere else. This place is disgusting, dishonest, and not worth a single cent.

Classic became Spare Box and this last year they had a rat infestation. I was not notified of the…read moreissue. Perhaps some of my things could have been saved if I was made aware early on. Apparently there we no preventive measure (bait Boxes) to prevent the issue then someone decided it was a good idea to store dog food in the units. Company is telling tenants they are not responsible for the damaged goods however I have been told they are "going after the dog food person for 90,000.00. Well what about everyone who has suffered complete losses of their belongings. They are still renting out these units even though the hazmat teams have not been there to do a terminal clean. Not cool. Rats carry many diseases which are transferrable to humans. The insulation and steel in the buildings is still contaminated and there are probably some tenants such as myself which have not been notified. Springs on the doors are damaged and I could not close mine after finally getting help to open it. Customer service is off shore and said someone would be there in 24 hrs. Manager came out, he was aware of the infestation and my door remained open for several days. I stopped payment and now been locked out and cannot salvage anything. I have been trying to find an attorney, without success at this time. All their concern seems to be about payment and not the losses of family items from my history and the furniture I have lost. I did enter the number correctly, and even called their customer service line for assistance. Although they are supposed to be able, according to them to unlock remotely, they couldn't do so. I asked what could be done. Their answer was to "try to reach a property manager and have them come to unlock the door. If you have time to wait on a property manager to drive from no telling where, provided they can reach one, rent a unit. If you want easy access and a person on hand if you need assistance, I'd recommend finding another self storage business.

They have a big truck out front that says you can use it for free to move in with when you rent a unit. When it came time to move in we were told that we couldn't use the truck because the brakes weren't working. Being able to use the free truck was one of the main reasons that we rented from cube smart. We had to go to another storage facility down the street to rent a truck and cube smart offered no discount or option at all. Then the unit was advertised at a certain price then after completing the paperwork we were informed that the price was $20 more than we were originally quoted for an insurance policy that you must pay for regardless if you want it or need it. We were also overcharged for a late fee which an entire month of rental was added to on top of the fee. It wasn't until we caught the error and called to correct the issue. If we didn't notice the mistake we would have just pissed away an extra $100. On a positive note the employees are friendly and helpful and I am sure that they are just following the cube smart policy and its these cube smart policies that will send me in the other direction when needing a storage unit in the future.
