The absolute WORST customer service. I had an AVIS car renter hit my vehicle and attempted to navigate the claim process to get reimbursed for the damage repair through their insurance coverage, managed by Sedgwick. I'm not joking when I say that I tried calling over 15 times over several weeks to my assigned claims manager, her superior, and their coworker to get an update on the claim status without a single response back. Each time you call, there will not be an answer, and the voice message of any person you reach will promise a call back within 24 hours. You will NEVER get a call back. I'd like to specifically mention Mia Tilson and Jade Neal. I never once got any return correspondence from Jade (email or phone) and only got one a very short, defensive correspondence with Mia on the phone, who promised a follow up from Jade. Save yourself a ton of time and hassle and go through your insurance. I ended up giving the Sedgwick claim number to my insurance. While it took a few months, my insurance ended up issuing them a demand, and I was able to get reimbursed. Zero stars. read more

I filed a claim over two months ago regarding a damaged sprinkler line caused by a work crew installing new street lamps. I submitted an invoice for repair and several photos showing the utility work crew installing new lamp and the broken line in proximity to the lamp post. I initially filed with our power company but they referred me to Sedgwick advising they handled their damage claims. I resubmitted to Sedgwick and received an email from a Cliff Sunday. He acknowledged in an email that they had my claim and provided me a claim number: 1102725. He said it was referred to a claims agent and I should receive a check in short order. It has been over a month and I have not received a check or even an email on the status of my claim. I sent a second email to Mr. Sunday advising him and he has not responded to the email. I plan to write a formal letter complaining to the company CEO in hopes of getting some attention to my claim. I am not happy with how this business manages claims. read more

Update as of 12/30/25. Still no resolution and the last update from Sedgwick was on 12/29/25. The claims adjuster let me know the file was still under review. This is the 3rd time I was told that the file was under review and that I would have an answer very soon. This is so frustrating since my condos interior dwelling, contents, and appliances are still damaged. The busy season is right around the corner so I will need to block out around 2-3 weeks to do the repairs so I will lose even more rental income. The property is a beach front condo at NC beach which does a lot of business during all seasons besides winter. I have explained this to Sedgwick many times but they are deliberately delaying this claim. I have given them everything they asked for within 30 days of the claim being filed from the signed contract, photos, excel spreadsheet for all the damages and the cost. I even gave them photos of what the property looked like before the renovations when I first purchased, production photos of the renovation, after the condo was completed and then all of the damages the insured caused to my brand new renovation from cracked tile, damaged contents, loss of rental income, spray paint everywhere and more. The damage list was updated after finding more damages and is now close to $60,000 in loses. I think they are trying to find every way possible not to help me and not pay a penny. It's a general liability claim. The contractor was hired to handle installing custom kitchen cabinets that he ended up painting the cabinets inside my condo (see photos) and had no containment, negative air, or covered anything. He also messed up the custom cabinets that he was hired to installed so I had to have them removed for the 2nd time and hire another contractor to install new cabinets. The insured does not have workmanship coverage so I'm out that money as well. The contractor was deported so I can't even take him to small claims court for the cabinets but I hope Sedgwick does what's right and covers the loss of damages to my condo and property. I will update again once they respond with their determination of coverage. I have been holding off with hiring my attorney which will drag the claim out even more on top of the additional expenses which I doubt Sedgwick would pay for but it may need to happen depending on how much longer they take and if they deny coverage. read more

Sedgewick shouldn't be allowed to conduct business as they are not helpful in any way. You can't ever get your adjuster on the phone. They never call you back when you leave a message. It takes between 2 days to a week for them to call you back if they do. You and your work both send the documents they need three to four times yet they always tell you they never received the documents. So you send them again and again. When your dr sends a return to work date to them they will not release you till they are good and ready. I'm going on ten days now and they still haven't released me to go back to work. And left 10 messages for them to call me back because they never are available an I have yet to get a call back. I could go on but I would be here forever. Yes, really 1 star. This company manages the disability claims for my employer. So, they totally dragged ass on all fronts from receiving faxed doctor's notes to calculations of benefits to payments of said benefits. And, I did all the right stuff on my end along the way. This was planned time off from work for hernia repair surgery, and I expedited all the forms the same day I received them. Craploads of paperwork. All this time I thought we were trying to save paper these days... and I jumped through all kinds of hoops, almost thought I was in a circus. I followed up with them every few days, wasting time and.. my breath. Only for them to sit on those forms for close to 5 weeks and hold up the benefits until my last doctor visit, which was the day before I returned to work. Our storage unit was broken into in March, we have filled out the info on line, left several messages and two months later we received a letter from Sedgwick, asking us to manually fill out the form w/ all of the details that we already emailed them about when we filed our claim. I have contacted Sedgwick this insurer who insured my storage unit at Public Storage off Bernice Rd, Lansing,IL. I have submitted pictures and break down sheet of property damage from water. I have had two people contact me one being (Paige) Paige.Viebrock@sedgwick.com and a Merissa, Johnson letting me know they are responsible and it would take ten days to notify me. I am way past ten days and there has been no response to e-mails nor has their been any returned calls. When I read the complaints about Sedgwick I wasn't surprised Than I had a robbery and had to file a claim. For the first 2 months no one not even executives at Sedgwick would return any of my calls including. 60 days after filing my claim examiner told me they had everything and my claim was ready to be finalized in 3 days. On that third day nothing was finalized and the process was just beginning. I spoke to the department that evaluated the claims and the bottom line is they are not looking to pay any claims they are looking for excuses to disqualify your claims. Sedgwick even found fault with the officer that wrote the police report. You will barely speak to your adjuster they take 6-12 months to approve or deny your claim all while not paying your weekly checks and of course you can't go back to work until you are released by the Doctor. I've spent total of three weeks in hospitals now going to PT get epidural and steroid shots in my back after having MRI done. Home Depot uses this company to pretend it is actually insured for damages to your home when you have home depot install a door, window or anything else. Sadly, home depot is "self insured" which means they are not insured. They hire Sedgewick to make sure they pay as little (or nothing) when a customers home is damaged during a botched door install. Home depots installers dragged a 300lb door across our custom concrete floor and scratched the heck out of it. They all agreed it was their fault but then referred me to sedgewick to try to get the money to fix the floor. Sedgwick ignored me and "glad-handed" me but never actually agreed to make anyone pay for the damage. I finally had to go through my homeowners insurance. I ended up[ having to eat the $1000 deductible for the $3500 floor repairs. Allstate subrogation dept is currently trying to get sedgewick to pay us the $1000 deductible. I am sure that isn't going to happen but I will hope it does since I don't have $1000 to spend on something that was not my fault. NEVER USE HOME DEPOT TO INSTALL ANYTHING IN YOUR HOME. Best Buy installed a defective washer dryer unit in my house which flooded and damaged my kitchen. They passed on the issue onto Sedgwick. Mind you this happened early 2019 and it is now almost October 2019. They have never picked up any of my phone calls nor respond to any emails or voicemails. This company is handling my claim . An Amazon prime truck hit my car while on vacation in New York during Christmas of 2020. My one year old son and elderly father were in the car . It has been an entire head ache back and forth calling multiple times . My car is a 2021 brand new and purchased at the end of 2020. I had to contact the BBB and reach out to Amazon . Amazon got back to me wayyy quicker than the entire process with this company. Ian Heinz is my adjuster and he always calls me from unknown numbers and leave low mysterious voicemails. I don't think their employees are capable of doing their job, unless the company does not permit them to do their job. I was in an accident and hurt my back, and for a couple months they would not even answer me as to whether I was on Workmen's Comp. It took over four months just to get my first Workmen's Comp. payment. And an endless amount of begging and pleading and threatening, and the person handling my plane kept promising that a check had been sent... Which was a blatant lie every time. This company works with sears Home Warranty. We have been 6 weeks without a working dishwasher. One of the assigned technicians broke a copper pipe. Another technician came and said the other technician broke it. No one will take responsibility for the damage. I am switched from person to person while listening to annoying music, only to get put on hold again. Sears and Sedgwick pass this back and forth and nothing is done. If there was an option for zero stars I'd select that. This has got to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with an insurance company. A valet at a hospital I was visiting backed my car into something and thus started the claims process. This was back in mid-November 11/15. I am writing this review on January 3rd and it is still not resolved nor have I received payment for the work that has already been completed and paid for out of my own pocket. Cassaundra is my examiner and she is the worst employee I've ever worked with. Extremely rude, slow to respond, lazy, and has a ton of attitude when on the phone. This process has been a ton of bs and when I tried to ask for a manager/supervisor contact (just to speed things up and see if we can get this done and taken care of with someone with a bit more power) she simply replied: "I cannot give out that information due to security concerns but they will call you." I'm still waiting for that call. Overall this has been a horrible experience and I sincerely hope I never have to deal with them again. read more
