While discussing my vision with how I wanted the photos, she helped me to coordinate timing and locations based on her expertise on lighting and color tones. On the day of, she arrived early to the proposal site to scope it out and make sure all the preparations were complete. While I was making small talk with my (newly proposed!) fiancé, she got in position to capture the moment. As soon as I dropped on one knee, she was ready to go and snapping photos. After the proposal itself, we worked together on different poses and backgrounds within the gallery. She was really fun and reassuring - even though I remember being in what I thought were odd poses, the final product ended up being adorable! She played with different angles and props, even using bush clippings and foliage to change up tone of the photos. She also entertained my multiple outfit changes requests! She clearly knows the Big Sur area well, and guided us to a few points that would work well with the sunset with beautiful backgrounds. On the same evening, she gave us a some sneakpeaks from the album so that we could share the news with our friends and family. We received a lot of praise about the photos of how the lighting and angles helped set the tone- some were soft and intimate, whereas others were fun and energetic. All in all, I really enjoyed the experience with Kristen and absolutely love the collection of photos. I would certainly recommend working with Kristen to capture your treasured memories. Here are some of the ways that Sandy truly stood out: - Both our babies were born around Christmas holiday and scheduling was not an issue at all for Sandy. She checked in ahead of the appointment to ensure we didn't need to reschedule (much needed for parents that just gave birth recently) and had our themes ready prior to us arriving. - The themes were 10/10, better than what we could've envisioned ourselves. Safety: As a mother, I have taken extra precautions during this pandemic so I was skeptical at first to book a photographer- but Yesenia has always ensured we feel safe as she creates a safe environment. She has kept her mask on for every shoot we have had with her, she disinfects all the items before use. Even now that she is fully vaccinated she keeps her mask on and constantly cleans her hands. Christmas Shoot: I first booked her when she was offering a Christmas mini in 2019. My husband, son, and our dog Moo showed up to the session at a park in the city. Yesenia was invited and warm as she helped us pose alongside the props she had. Also noted was that she was wearing a mask and disinfected the items we used as props in front of us before the shoot. Before the shoot, Yesenia called me to discuss the color scheme, pictures I wanted to recreate, family portrait options, and the details of what I needed to take to the shoot that day. After our call, she sent me a detailed list of what to expect during the shoot and how I could prepare. When we arrived at the studio she made us feel comfortable as we took family pictures and then more intimate pregnancy pictures. My pictures came out so good everyone was in awe at how beautifully Yesenia captured that moment. Newborn Shoot: So of course I reached out to her again when my son was born. I was looking to take in-studio maternity photos near Los Gatos and filled out a few inquiry forms. Another photographer responded, gave available dates, and asked for a deposit. I put that session on my calendar and then Gaby called me. She took the time to get to know me, ask about my pregnancy journey, wanted to see a Pinterest board of pictures I liked, then asked to come over to see my belly. She said she likes to book sessions based on belly size, not by week of pregnancy because everyone grows at different rates. This level of personalization and thoughtfulness made me cancel my initial booking and go with Gaby. And I am so grateful this is how she works because when she saw me, she said my belly is already big and we should take the shoot next week. This and the little touches like robe and slippers, snacks, and drinks made our shoot so much more relaxed and enjoyable. - I thought my Pinterest board was just for inspiration. What surprised me was Gaby took the time and energy to basically recreate every picture and pose I liked. Setting up the shoot, lighting, everything.
