I've been asking my husband to take me segwaying for a LONG time. He surprised me on our 10th anniversary! Genuinely, Monterey is the best place to do segwaying. My husband and I have been to Monterey plenty of times but with the segways we took the local paths/dunes that we would never want to walk/bike. What a great way to see how beautiful Monterey is. We saw some seals and amazing waves! Luckily gloves were supplied because it was cold today. Graham was our guide today and we had a wonderful time with him. He was very patient with us when teaching us how to use the segways, made sure we were aware of any bumps and great with the crowd in congested areas. Very funny, sweet man. Absolutely recommend when visiting Monterey. There would still be plenty of time to go to the aquarium or hang around the downtown area if you do an early tour. read more

My FIRST segway tour ever and it was WORTH !! Jerry "mother hen" awesome tour guide was very thorough in teaching us everything in the beginning. You will know why he is mother hen one you do the tour lol!! But I love it!! IT was scary in the beginning but after some test runs in the lot and cones, I was on my way!! My wife and I recently went on a tour with Jerry at Segway Tours Monterey. We have been on quite a few tours in many different places and I have to say, this was one of the best tours that we have experienced. Jerry is very thoughtful during the training process and even though we are seasoned riders, he was careful to go thru all the safety training and to tell us about safety issues we may encounter in the Monterey area. We really appreciated that because every location has its own unique challenges. We took the tour through Pacific Grove and had a great ride. I've never done a Segway tour and my sister is in town from out of state and we were thinking of fun things to do or see during her visit- she has done several Segway tours in different places she's visited so we decided to give it a try. We did the Pacific Grove coastal trail and it was really fun and beautiful! We were a group of four, me, my sister and my two teenage kids. My daughter was really nervous but Jerry was patient and thorough in his explanations of how to safely operate the Segway. Once we all had our lesson and he was satisfied that we could safely operate the Segway without hurting ourselves or others, we got started on our tour. It took about two and a half hours from start to finish, including the lesson. We passed harbor seals, saw many deer, and rode along the ocean. We all wore headsets that allowed us to hear Jerry's commentary and instructions as we rode along. Halfway through we stopped for a snack and a restroom break. Jerry thoughtfully provided a bottle of water and a granola bar inside the carrying bag of our Segways. I highly recommend this tour, it's really fun! read more

Four of us took the tour. Two of us fell. Granted, myself and the other person that fell were older and had little to no experience skating, skiing, scootering, etc. Luckily no injuries. None of us four had ever been on a segway so I signed up for the Recreation Tour. Our guide talked us out of it, saying it was a real cold tour. It was a sunny, non-windy day in Monterey, but I thought okay, no big deal, he apparently doesn't want to do that tour and I don't want to piss him off. The trail in Monterey was so crowded! Tons of people, little children, dogs, and every tour vehicle you can imagine. Having fell during the training, not feeling prepared, and then having to navigate that crowd on the trail and then on the roads (parked cars on one side and traffic on the other) was not pleasant. About 15 minutes into the tour, I opted to just stop and rest and let the others proceed on the tour. I usually research things well before I buy or engage in something, but I didn't. The movies and mall cops make it look so easy. (This is the perfect vehicle for mall cops, as they have a smooth level surface). If you are considering this tour and are a newbie, please research segways, including segway fails and the history of why it is no longer made. If you want to go on the less crowded tour, insist on it. I need to add that the three others on the tour with me said they enjoyed it and did not regret the tour. Our guide was a pleasant person and patient with me. I just felt that the training for me at least, was insufficient and I had no business being on such a crowded trail with minimal experience. read more

Booked a last minute trip with a group of teenagers for a tour which turned out to be the highlight of my daughters 15th birthday celebration. As Jerry suggested we opted to do the recreational trails tour, it was amazing! Jerry did a fantastic job, the tour lasted about 3 hours which included about an hour of training( due to the large group). Jerry was very patient training all 10 riders and making sure everyone crossed intersections safely. I would highly recommend. With not too many options of activities due to COVID I am so glad we stumbled upon Monterey Segway Tours. We're very familiar with PG/Monterey so we chose the Recreation Trail Tour which took us far North towards Fort Ord and past gorgeous and uncrowded scenery. Jerry's brief but efficient training prepared us well and he was very proactive about looking out for our safety throughout our tour. The Segways were in great condition and Jerry provided unexpected perks like water bottles and photos/video of my son and I throughout the tour. My wife and I wanted a fun way to see 17 Mile Drive and the Monterey Pennisula. I found Jerry's website and called him to make a reservation. Since I asked about a Monday tour, he said I could choose the time since I was the first inquiry of the day regarding a tour. We set the time for 2pm and met at the Pacific Grove Tourism Office. Jerry was there promptly at 2. We brought our own helmets (he has helmets as well). We dressed in layers which is a good idea since the weather changes drastically during the tour. It was very windy on 17 Mile Drive out by the ocean and somewhat chilly too and then when we returned to Pacific Grove, it was sunny and warm. My wife is not very adventurous and had never ridden a Segway. Jerry did a great job teaching her and in about 5 minutes she was nearly an expert. I got my training as well. You learn to stop, start, turn, maneuver through cones and get a good feel. It is really very easy once you learn the basics. Jerry provides headsets and radios so you can hear his directions as well as the tour information. Jerry does a fantastic job about watching for safety issues and pointing them out. You get chances to stop a few times for pictures and a stop for restrooms too. Our tour was almost 18 miles and two and half hours. It was a lot of fun and a very unique experience. You go fast enough to cover a lot of ground but not too fast to miss the sights. I highly recommend. read more

This Segway tour was an amazing time and a great way to sightsee in Monterey. We chose the recreation tour. Our tour consisted of just the three of us (2 adults and 1 child (12 yrs old), and our wonderful tour guide Tim. Tim spent a good amount of time going over the Segways and safety...being that we had never been on a Segway, this was much appreciated!! The Segway was easy to maneuver, and we quickly felt comfortable riding them. The tour was spectacular...we travelled about 16 miles roundtrip and saw sites only able to be seen by pedestrians!! Tim was a wonderful tour guide...knew so much history of Monterey and took us to really great spots to view the ocean and bay. We had so much fun...highly recommend this tour!! Our family wanted a unique way to sight see in Monterey and found Segway Monterey Tours. We made a reservation for a Tuesday afternoon tour, the first day of our trip. Upon arrival, we got the routine rundown on how to use the segways & radios. Jerry made sure we were confident in the segway use and we got on our way!! We did the historical tour of Monterey and had a blast!!!! It was SO MUCH fun, easy to ride, informative, tons of fun, and did I mention it WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!! Really, I can't stress how much fun our family had! I could not recommend this family adventure more!!! We loved every minute and wished our tour could have been longer! We were able to plan the entire rest of our week off of tips from Jerry's tour! We had a blast and will now try to plan all our family vacations to begin with a segway tour!!! read more

We found these guys on Yelp, gave them a call, and they set up an hour and half history tour the same day! 1. The personnel: Jerry could not have been more accommodating. He was very cautious and thorough as he gave us the basics of how to ride a Segway. He is truly a nice guy. His knowledge of the machine and his knowledge of the area was great, and he was so good about keeping us safe. 2. The equipment: The Segways look almost brand new. Well maintained and fully loaded. Jerry also gave each of us headsets so we could listen to him as he explained details of buildings, monuments, historical areas, etc. He would also say, "watch your head here, the branches ahead are low", etc. 3. The area covered by the tour: We took the historical tour. Was supposed to be and hour and a half, but he gave us much more. I've been to Monterey dozens of times but saw things I'd never seen before and understood things I had seen before but didn't know what I was looking at. 4. The price: We paid $85 each and gave Jerry a nice tip. Overall: We plan to go back and do a different tour, like 17 mile drive. That was a great time! And by the way, they have moved into the Tin Cannery. Our navigator took us to Sand City for some reason. read more

Jerry was an excellent tour guide! We booked the Recreational Trail Tour online. Paying for the tour was easy - we didn't have to make any payment on the day of the tour. The confirmation email told us where we could park and once we were there, we were told we could stay there all day. We arrived a few minutes early and Jerry gave us our helmets, gloves and radios as well as a refresher course in how to drive a Segway (we were experienced). He also included bottled water and a yummy protein/granola bar for each of us. Once we were ready to go, the tour was a nice balance of sight seeing, Jerry's information over the radio headset and quiet time to enjoy the ride. We stopped a few times to rest our feet (they tend to get sore and numb on a Segway) and take some pictures. A couple days after our tour, Jerry emailed us pictures and videos of our tour.
