Having moved to Katy 6 months back, I started my search for an esthetician to would take care of my monthly facials. Well, Groupon brought me to Selah Medi Spa with their face massage at a discounted rate with great reviews and I purchased the coupon. 3 months later, I can tell you this is one of the best places I've been to for my face massages and micro-needling sessions. Mishka is amazing with her facials and Mina, is master of her trade, she is amazing with any and all skin concerns, she made my micro-needling sessions so easy yet super informative, kept checking on me every now and then! They both do a fabulous job at prepping you with information, answering any and all questions, makes you feel so comfortable. Even the ladies at the front desk are very helpful and friendly. The vibe there is so relaxing and calm, its just the place you want to be to forget the stress and make it your ideal 'Spa' day. I am looking forward to my first whole-body massage this weekend. I want to start by saying the staff I interacted with were kind and professional on a personal level. This review is not about their demeanor it's about the guidance I was given. I came in as someone who has lost 130 pounds and has been consistently maintaining a structured routine: approximately 1700 calories per day, around 170g of protein, weightlifting 3-4 times per week, and daily walking. This approach has clearly been effective and sustainable for me. During my consultation, I was told that based on my resting metabolic rate (~1600), I should be eating around 1100 calories per day. When I explained my current intake and results, I was met with visible shock and told, "that's why people don't lose weight." I found this response not only dismissive, but concerning. Recommending an intake significantly below resting metabolic rate especially to someone of my height (5'11") and activity level raises serious concerns about sustainability and overall health. After the appointment, I followed up with my physician, as well as a certified nutrition professional I've previously worked with, both of whom confirmed that this recommendation was not appropriate. I understand that different providers may have different approaches, but presenting extremely low caloric intake as a standard solution, and doing so with a high level of confidence when challenged, is something I feel potential clients should be aware of. Given my experience, I will not be returning. I hope this feedback encourages a more individualized and evidence-based approach for future clients. read more

I love seeing Mishka for my dermaplane, facials, chem peels and lashes! She does such a great job and is so fun. I've recommended everyone to her. Cassandra did my fillers and was as great as you can be when you're stabbing someone's face. I'm about 2 weeks the Juvederm and Botox looked really great. I give them a 2 star because I am not even a patient. I scheduled an appointment online easy right. It gives you availability and you pick a time. To my surprise I am called and told sorry we are not open this day but we can get you in next week, a week later! Okay so you say book online and have all these appointments available to turn around and say sorry these are not available!!! Hmmm strange. So after they called to cancel with hesitation I rescheduled for the following week. Mind you this time I actually spoke with someone and scheduled my appointment for 6 PM on Friday, they offered me this time. To then turn around and get a phone call to state sorry we cannot do 6 PM on Friday we will need to reschedule you. I attempted to return the call left a message on their voicemail as stated no return call. In the meantime I am getting all of these confirmation text messages and emails confirming that I have an appointment on Friday at 6 PM, OK I thought wow great they decided not to cancel my appointment. Low and behold I called to confirm my time to make sure everything is still on and they again tell me sorry this appointment needed to be canceled. I promptly said you know what no thanks I will actually go back and see a real doctor and see my dermatologist who has been treating me. I really wanted to Give this place a try but after this terrible experience I can not even imagine what it is like to be a patient. Bad business means bad service. How about not offer appointments if your not going to allow patients to keep them. After reading these reviews I am happy I decided not to ever schedule an appointment with this place again. Do yourself a favor and go see a real plastic surgeon office or dermatologist, trust me the price is not that big of a difference and you will be treated with much respect and not ever be given appointments to be told several times you need to be rescheduled!!! read more

I am not commonly one to leave a negative review but I feel that all patients should read this. It has been almost a few weeks now and my fingers continue to be extremely numb to the point they feel almost paralyzed from a procedure that was done here. They might tell you "that's a potential complication you signed off of" but as someone who is training in the medical field, I am telling you now, please do not come here. Please do your research on a website called RealSelf where you will see there are board-certified plastic surgeons and dermatologists before committing to a procedure instead of reading reviews on google and yelp. This place has no board-certified physician trained in plastics or even any doctor in that matter. I don't care how appealing the prices seem and how friendly the staff is, do not come here. Please have your procedure done by a board-certified physician or at least in a clinic where there is one physically present to oversee your procedure. Not only does this place not have a board-certified plastic surgeon overseeing treatments, but they also DO NOT EVEN HAVE A DOCTOR PHYSICALLY IN OFFICE TO OVERSEE YOUR PROCEDURE OR ANY COMPLICATIONS THAT MIGHT ARISE. Sure, some patients might be lucky enough to not have complications. I thought I was one of them. I was wrong. We had challenges during my appointment and this office did not have a protocol for when such challenges arise. Fortunately, MY TRAINING in the medical field allowed me to offer a suggestion that actually worked. Why didn't the office have a protocol? The person was not trained for such situations BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE A MEDICAL LICENSE. I came home with an entirely paralyzed arm after having a procedure called miradry. I couldn't even drive after my treatment. I cried after leaving the office. Everyone here kept telling me "it's normal". However, after a week, I continued to have numbness in my right fingers (MY DOMINANT HAND) and after calling the office, they kept saying its normal? I wanted to speak with a doctor but they didn't even have one to talk to me. I was even informed by the owner, Tricia, that speaking with a physician would not help?? Excuse me, I am in this field, yes it absolutely would. They understand layers of anatomy and that MY MEDIAN NERVE WAS COMPRESSED (which she didn't even know anything about). What did I do? I sought at-home suggestions on RealSelf from people who are BOARD CERTIFIED MEDICAL PHYSICIANS. But I shouldn't have had to do that! The office I got my procedure should have had one for me to speak with. And please don't bother responding to this review apologizing or making excuses. I won't waste my time reading it. What's done is done. And yes I had to dictate this note because I could not use my freaking fingers. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I've been cheating myself in life. Only 59 bucks. I think. My wife went later. She's had many massages at high dollar places. She though this was the best ever. Therapists name started with an "E". I should just hand her and the business a couple hundred bucks in advance. They can tell me when I'm out of money. Because I will be back. There's a ton of other services there that I can't speak to. I've been going to Selah Medi Spa for facials and massages on and off over the past couple of years, but I've become more of a regular over the last three months. The staff at the front desk have always been friendly and the atmosphere has always been welcoming and relaxing (the decor, lighting, and music are all spot on and the place is exceptionally clean), but I've become a regular these past few months thanks to Dana, Selah's massage therapist. Her manner, technique, and professionalism are very hard to find. I know, because I've had massages all over the west side of Houston in search of a massage therapist close to me. In ten years, and many unfortunate experiences, it's never quite worked out. So I've been making the trek out to Sugar Land to see the massage therapist I've had for the last 15 years. She's great, but 45 minutes away. Still, I thought I'd never find anyone else I felt comfortable with. I decided to get a massage on a whim while I was at Selah for a facial (highly recommend their facials too!) and I'm so glad I did. I was nervous at first, because I am extremely particular (I'm a massage snob, to be perfectly honest). But Dana was amazing. Best. Massages. Ever. The massage Dana gave me today (two hour Swedish) convinced me to join the massage club at Selah Medi Spa. I've officially switched. After years of commuting across town for a massage, I am thrilled to have one that's only 10 minutes away. And she also happens to give the best massages I've ever had. Jackpot :) read more

Arrived for our visit 15 minutes ahead of time. Serene and relaxing lobby with aromatherapy smells. I have overactive sinuses so it was difficult to enjoy my wait. While I filled out paperwork an older woman I presume was a manager, entered the lobby and stood at counter. She uses two fingers to point over her shoulder at us and ask if we'd signed in. Then she points at the other gentlemen and asked if he'd signed in. The clerk said yes. Then the last lady who'd just arrived, the clerk said no. So she turns to lady and says you need to come and sign in or you could be sitting here until tomorrow hahaha. Then she turns and leaves. It would have been better if she asked staff in the office to verify with clients if all had signed in with a smile. Even my teen thought it was rude. I had been coming here for some time and spent thousands of dollars for different procedures. This was my second time for botox. The RN is very nice, but was glittery, nervous and not really putting me at ease while she was doing my procedure. At one point she ruptured a blood vessel under my left eye. All I got was an I'm sorry and an ice pack. Meanwhile its day 2 and I have this HUGE black eye. I see many people at work daily and this looks extremely unprofessional. In the 8 years I've done botox before coming to Katy, I've never bruised like this. If I could post a picture, I would. Not sure if the RN was having a bad day, but I'm left to deal with this enormous black eye for days. read more

I have been going to Selah Spa for a couple of years, and do their HCG program which is really great. The owner is a super nice lady who really cares. The nurse that administers the HCG is super nice. They care, and they know how it feels to really want to lose weight - that as we get older gets harder and harder to lose. I have not had a massage, but have done some of the cellulite reduction/skin tightening treatments. The technician was just the sweetest young lady. read more

This updated review is not on the spa or the staff. It is on the Viora treatment. I went through 7 treatments and $375 later=no results whatsoever. I do know that everyone's experience is different. But based on the fact that I followed the instructions of the staff for increased water intake and making sure I was eating right, I would have thought that I would see some kind of results. I asked if I could be compensated in anyway for wasting my money on this treatment, but the owner refused. So unfortunately, based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Viora treatments to anyone. read more

Recently purchased a Groupon for a facial. I explained to the esthetician that it's possible I can bruise if you go to hard on my extractions. The facial was going well until this point. I have had many facials before that have resulted in a smooth clear face but this one left me with bruises all over my nose and forehead. I contacted Selah via Facebook to speak about this and ask for suggestions on what to do to clear up my skin because the bruise marks even show through my makeup. Needless to say they left me on read and did not respond. It's one thing to bruise a customers face but completely unacceptable to ignore them after they reach out. Honestly I can't write a long enough review to express how happy I am with this spa. I had a facial with microdermabrasion performed by their technician Brittani, and it was an amazing experience! I felt so relaxed and stress free the whole time. She was very sweet and didn't try to push me to get anything she didn't think I needed. Ended up getting something that has helped my skin immensely, I feel like I look younger every day. I'll continue to come here for facials, I need this in my life! Maybe I made a mistake of not reading the fine print that it was for 1st time clients only but at least they should have let me know this prior to booking an appointment and I had to wait 45 mins before they drop the bombshell! For the price of the Groupon and the service I can't complain. Sherry was sweet and did a good job on my facial and microdermabrasion treatment. The ambiance of this spa was nice and warm. I had to wait about 15 mins after I filled out the 3 sheets of information/release form.. I am guessing they wanted to be careful with the new clients that may have sensitive skin or allergies. The service was overall pretty good. Sherry did a good job doing my blackheads extractions for an additional $10.. wow I didn't know I had as many as I did gross.. and here I thought I had great skin lol.. anyhow I was pleased with the professional service I received on my visit. My skin felt great and very smooth. I forgot to mention I am also an active licensed cosmetologist. (Hairstylist). Go see Sherry for a facial and microdermabrasion treatment!! Not easy to do business with. I called to book an appointment and had to wait for a call back because they were in a meeting and the person who answered the phone couldn't schedule. My appointment was rescheduled three times because there is only 1 masseuse and she was injured in a collision. My appointments were canceled on the day of within 5 hours of me arriving. Their gift cards expire within 30 days which is amazing considering there is no staff readily available. This is why I stick to reputable spas like Trellis or Aveda. read more

I had juvederm injected in my nasolabial folds almost three weeks ago. This was my first time here, as I recently moved from Dallas. I have been getting fillers for years. This was the worst. I had never experienced such horrible bruising or swelling, and I only had one syringe. My smile on the right side is off, I have an extra line and lumpy appearance to go with it.
