Liked being able to select my own slab. I thought I bought quartz, but now I'm not sure because the receipt doesn't specify, and I had to request it as there was no paperwork when they installed the top. I'm writing this so others will be aware. Communication is not great. Workers that come out to the house speak very little english. I did not know they cut the faucet holes in MY bathroom, as I was asked what size faucets were going in before I purchased. If I knew, I would have emptied the vanity drawers. Everything was covered with cement dust from them drilling! Charge for everything. Extra $200 for them to remove the vanity top even though the top I bought was $700. 3+% for using a credit card...They wouldn't even put the top in my garage without charging me the $200. The top is beautiful, but make sure you get specific info first! read more

When they installed the countertop they took out the top drawers, they installed the counter with the drawers not in so the counter was misaligned. The drawers no longer fit/open. The lady didn't seem to really care when I called. Pretty useless to have a new countertop when your cabinet drawers no longer work read more

** I had to reduce this down to one star after the efforts of the manager or owner to fix the problem failed so horrendously -- notes on that at the bottom ** Let me start by saying that we got the granite we wanted at a good price, and it looks good in the space now that the installation is complete. However, I will never use this company again. I think the best way to describe the whole interaction with them is "sketchy" and "slimy". We went there and met a very nice woman who showed us lots of options and gave us a discount for agreeing to pay cash. We knew that the island would be 5' x 5', so no template needed, and she explained that the cooktop installation was cut in on site and that we needed to give them the sink at template. Then it all went downhill. We needed to change the template day and were told by a really bossy and somewhat mean woman that they can't template without the cooktop onsite. It would cost $250 to have them come template a 2nd time. A frustrating and bitter phone conversation that was completely different from the conversation we had when we bought the granite. On the day scheduled for the template, the guys showed up 2 hours early. When I told them I didn't expect them until 2pm, they informed me that nobody told them. Then they left for lunch and sat in the truck for 30 minutes. I asked them what they were waiting for and they just got out and started working. I think they did an *excellent* job of creating the templates that were needed. And they told me that they did NOT need the cooktop to do their work. Then we got a call: the 5' x 5' piece was so big they needed a 3rd person, which would be an extra $150!!! I didn't understand how this new charge could come up when we had already agreed on a price (subject to final templating). She didn't really care. I asked about how much they paid the employees (because $150 for someone to stand there seems like a lot) and the mean and bossy woman just about had a fit. She told me the install would take place on Thursday (she happened to be on a speakerphone in the car and we all heard her set the install date of Thursday). I went to look at the piece in the shop to match a paint color. They took me back to look at it, then left me there, and then I got yelled at because I wasn't supposed to be back there. Make up your minds, people! Thursday came and no one showed up. I called them and either the same mean and bossy woman or another one told me that the install was Friday and that no one told me Thursday. She explained she would apologize if she was wrong, but she wasn't... so no apology. I was the person who was wrong. They showed up with at least five people on Friday and immediately started to takeover the kitchen (people were painting but the guys just moved everything out of the way). They didn't even ask... they just picked up everything and anything and moved it out of what they thought was in their way (we would have been happy to move anything that needed to be moved). I asked what piece they would do first, they answered, and then started installing another piece, and got pissy when that part wasn't ready (because they just told me they were doing the OTHER part!). Then they cut and polished and drilled granite in the kitchen, coating everything with stone dust! Not a little dust... many many minutes of polishing and cutting and drilling. EVERYTHING was coated on 2 floors! One guy stood there with a shop vac while the other guy filled the entire place with dust. UNBELIEVABLE. A piece of the counter had about a 1" chunk missing on the back edge. And they just acted like that was OK (didn't even mention it until I brought it up!) and would fill it with their epoxy crap. Frankly, I just wanted them out of my house. I knew, since we paid cash, if I refused anything I would never see my money again -- and the woman on the phone would explain how chunks missing from granite is normal or some other crap. And they certainly didn't care what they brought into the space or what they did once they got there. Yes, you can get a good price from this company, and a nice finished product. However, everything in-between was so unpleasant, I'd rather never have to work with someone like that again. **** After I posted my original review, I got a call explaining about how they were sorry for my problems and really wanted to make up for it. A week later, we found out we needed to replace some marble unexpectedly. I called to see if this stone, used outside, was something they carried and talked with this same manager. Sent him pictures and dimensions and quantity of what we needed (around 40 sf). He said they had it and I scheduled to see him the next morning. So, I drove there. He wasn't there. No one knew what I was talking about. The stone they had was NOTHING like what we needed and it was a COMPLETE waste of time and energy. read more

I've ordered marble from here twice. The product is excellent but the customer service is far from stellar. On my last install the guys were 2 hours late. When I called to inquire where they were the girl who answered was rude & snippy. When the installers got there they were so apologetic. They did a fantastic job & were highly professional. I have been using Carlos for years and have referred him to many friends. He has a nice selection of stone and a business that is unlike the "box" stores or the pretentious smaller companies around the area. The workmanship is nice and the prices very fair. About 1/2 a dozen years ago I redid my kitchen and priced out about 4 places in the Boston vicinity. Carlos' quote came in significantly lower. I was amazed how they got a large piece of granite with a sink cut-out up three flights of stairs in what is an extremely narrow hallway. Shop around - sure. This company is fantastic. Their warehouse has a large selection of the large granite slabs. A single piece was enough to use for our kitchen and bathroom; this is in addition to their samples in the display room. We picked out the most beautiful large slab from the back room. It was like a piece of artwork. After they removed our old counter and made a wooden template of the counter along with where the seams would be they let us work with the person who would cut the granite. He held the wooden template up to the slab so that he could match flow of the pattern to match both sides of the seam. The result was perfect. And their price for the work was low. Although some employees did not speak English, those who did ensured that communication was excellent and ensured that workers arrived on time in our condo. We were responsible for leveling our old cabinets and disconnecting plumbing before the granite counters were installed. They supplied good sinks and we supplied new faucets. We are extremely happy with the results. read more

I'm confident that their prices cannot be beat and their quality of install is on par with the best. If you go to their showroom and pick a style that you like, they will take you into the back and have a bobcat-like-machine literally pick up and showcase the exact piece of granite you can buy. It's pretty cool to see the exact piece in front of you. You can tell their install team has a lot of experience. Their measurements were spot on (my counters had angles) and the final result is flawless. There was some miscommunication about when to remove the old counters (we wanted to do that part ourselves) - so if you are planning to remove the counters on your own, make sure you tell them and confirm at which stage you should remove them. 5 stars, easily. read more

**buyers beware** DO NOT DEAL with select marble and granite. We ended up buying a bathroom vanity top at a good price. At first, things went fine and the workers came as scheduled. During the installation, the installers ended up snapping the p-trap pipe that was connected to the old vanity top. We didn't know about this until after the fact once we noticed there was a water leak in the garage. We called the store to explain the situation. Spoke with Marianna who was very defensive, but said she would talk to the owner Carlos. After a few days, she never followed up so we continued calling asking for Carlos to at least come out so we could show him the damages. She claimed Carlos just had surgery and can't walk. We end up getting in touch with the owner Carlos who comes to the house (no signs of surgery - not limping etc so clearly Marianna is a liar) we show him the damages, and he says he will take care of it with the insurance. We wait ... and wait .. and wait and never hear from an adjuster from his insurance. He never filed a claim and straight up lied to all of our faces. This company is filled with shady liars. Such a shame because the actual vanity piece is beautiful, but Carlos and Marianna are god awful people. Stay away! Unfortunately I can't give them a 0 star rating. read more

Had to drive to Everett but these guys saved me $300 vs what I thought were ridiculous quotes for a custom 19" x 80" vanity. There was some confusion during the install process and my plumber ended up installing the sink for me later, but it was all fine in the end. Purchased a piece of granite for my bathroom counter top. It was installed on time but after the installer left, I noticed a crack in the stone. It was not a natural defect but an actual crack which was glued to hold the pieces together. After several calls/texts to the owner, the issue hasn't been resolved and I am at the point where I am disputing the charge on my credit card. We heard about Select from a friend and after getting quotes from others (like Home Depot and Costco) went to Everett to see what there was. Great service from Mercia and Paula in selecting the appropriate granite. Templating was done quickly and professionally and because this was for a rental flat that was not being vacated for a few weeks, there was no problem scheduling a future installation. That was done on time by Felix and Douglas. There turned out to be a couple of scratches that were not noticed until a day after. Felix came back with some magic compound and it was perfect. Turns out that the friend had just heard about Select, but after seeing our job, used them for his projects, too. read more

Then when granite was finally installed the wrong stone was installed. I never received a quote on price until after onstalled and was then told I had to pay in cash in the office so they could "make payroll that week". I was referred to Select by a contractor that had used them many times before. I drove into Everett (over an hour) and was in and out in less than 45 minutes. I spoke with Carlos about options and picked out a stone within budget. The price was great, less than the other 3 companies I had contacted. Carlos gave me a flat price that included the sink, faucet hole, corners, everything. There were no extra charges. I was amazed at how other companies want to charge extra for everything. The best part...they were able to cut my entire L-shaped counter out of one piece of granite AND they called and came to install it a day early. It was three days from template to install. These guys are the best!!!! If you are in the market for granite, I highly recommend them. I found them on Craigslist and was skeptical until I read these Yelp reviews. My experience could not have been better! I recently built a bar that needed a granite top. I also wanted to make two smaller cocktail tables with the same granite. I worked with Carlos and both Paula's (there are two!) Their price could not be beat and they did the job so quickly it blew my mind. Fantastic! I emailed a design layout of what I wanted. Within 1 hour, Paula had called with a very nice quote. She suggested I come into the showroom to see the slab. I went to the showroom to see the slab of New Venetian Gold and it was a perfect match for my room. They reconfirmed the quote and discussed the various options. Their price was easily 30% lower than two other quotes! That included a custom Ogee edge (that is where most granite shops really add up the costs). One granite shop wanted $500 just to cut the Ogee edge on 14 linear feet!!! Anyway, back to Select M&G: Within 2 hours of visiting the showroom, their crew was at my house to make a template. This was Saturday afternoon. My granite was cut and ready to install Monday evening!! Unfortunately, I was not ready for the granite yet, but their crew came out first thing Tuesday morning. I should also point out, this was the week before Thanksgiving. Carlos knew I was hosting a party and he made it happen. The other granite shops were talking about a Christmas (or later) install. On the day of the install, three workmen came and did a great job installing the granite. They were friendly, neat and very polite. It took a little over 1 hour and my job was complete. I had used another granite company before for 2 kitchens. I wish I knew about Carlos and his crew before. Next time I will call Carlos first! read more

I first went to them on recommendation from someone I knew. I went to the everett store first and got a quote on some granite. Then I went to Peabody to look at the product.They came out to template the job and then I went back to peabody to double check the pieces because they were very difficult to look at initially. I asked for a written quote and was given another price verbally that was more than the first. Wasn't too big a deal but then after one week of not getting a written quote and being told someone would call me I finally called the owner and received a written quote. It was a lot more that the original 2 quotes so I called and asked about it. I was told they couldn't do it for that price. I'm not sure I understand how both sales people could give me price and then be told that wasn't the price. Also it just does not strike me as a professional operation. Also when they initially came out they wanted to put a seam in a very un attractive place instead of center because I think it was easy for them instead of what was correct. And the quote they sent had some stipulations that were not good for the consumer like " they were not responsible for the installation if it got damaged ? I'd rather pay a little more and have it done by a reputable business. They should not be asking for cash either. read more

We are preparing to sell our home and looked around for a new granite counter. I didn't even care to go and see it as we will not be there long. The people on the phone were very nice. Until the installation did not go as planned. In the 4 conversations that I had with them, they failed to inform me that they do not have a plumber on staff. This means that they did not install the plumbing to my sink and just left me to figure it out. They also did not attached the existing dishwasher to the new counter. I called to explain the issues. The person who answered the phone this time was not nice at all. They basically blamed me for not knowing what was and was not included in my installation package and kept referring to "when I was there", despite the fact that I have never been to their location. READ EVERY LINE of their contract. They specifically leave things out when they go over the process with you. You will end up paying over $500 more to a plumber to fix what they broke. read more

This was a very pleasant experience. I had an old countertop removed and replaced with a Black Galaxy granite countertop along with an undermount sink and 4" backsplash. I had estimates from 3 other vendors and Select Granite was by far the least expensive of the 4. Not only that, their turnaround time was unbelievably fast. The other vendors I spoke to said it would take 1 to 1.5 weeks to have the countertop ready for installation. Select Granite had the countertops installed in my home within 3 days! Day 1 - Called for an estimate. Carlos gave me an unbeatable price. Day 2 - They came over to measure the template. Day 3 - They cut the granite to spec and had the sink ready. Day 4 - They came and did the installation. I could not be happier with the results and quick turnaround. Paula was the person I dealt with on the phone and she was very accommodating.
