I've taken a lot of different acting classes around LA (even Zoom ones based out in NY) and this…read moreone taught by Eric Kline is unique. I started here in summer 2023 and went here consistently for about a year. I'm not sure if it's still the same format but when I was there you would pay for class per 2 weeks session -- so one week you and your scene partner would do a zoom cold read with each other and Eric. You should have worked up the scene prior to the cold read as well and discuss it with Eric at the cold read. Then the following week you would meet up (I was in the Tuesday evening class) at the studio to perform the scene. Depending on who your scene partner is, you could schedule to meet to practice your scene more if you wanted. But most people I believe just chose to meet up half-hour to hour prior to in-person class to practice. What I really liked about this class is that you get experience being filmed at every in-person class. He has two 4K cameras, a green screen where he can project a background, and a boom mic. So you're not just performing your scene on a stage while your peers watch. You will get to perform while also learning the technical aspects of how to perform on camera. THIS is why I went to Eric's class! I got an experience that is close to being on a set. Also you can get experience working the camera or holding the boom mic while your peers do their scene. At the end of class, you will watch everyone's scene and Eric will give his critiques. You can also request to get a copy of your scene, which was $10 when I was there. Since I started acting in 2023, this really helped me to build a reel so I had something to self-submit for auditions and later on when I submitted to agents. Eric teaches Tony Barr's technique (hence the name of the studio -- Eric and Tony were good friends). I don't know how to describe Tony Barr's teachings but it just made sense to me -- it's practical and realistic. I felt I could organically just let go and be present in the scene. I believe I did 1 or 2 private sessions with Eric before I felt comfortable to come to the in-person classes. But you don't have to do that, that's just what I did as I was new to acting and had to get over the nerves of being on camera. Every actor I met in class was nice and very supportive. Eric created a safe space for everyone to learn and can make bold choices. I highly recommend this place!

He knows more about film acting than anyone I've ever met, and I have met many actors, directors, teachers. This is without a doubt the best acting class in Los Angeles. The only reason more people don't know about this class is because Eric relies on word of mouth to get new students. He's the most brilliant acting teacher in the state, but doesn't spend much of his energy advertising. Works for me because there's always a spot for me, and there's no other class I want to be in. Also, this is one of the only classes that shoots the scenes we work. Being in this class not only sharpens talent but it also gives students new footage every two weeks. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Not just your average theater program. Choosing this program for both of my daughters, who are…read moreextremely different from each other, has been one of the best parenting decisions I have ever made. I average a few comments a week about how amazing my 15 year old daughter is and I attribute so much of that to the community, culture, and programming that is built within this theater space. Yes, she has leaned to sing, dance, and act- and well, I might add. For me, more importantly, she has learned grace, pride, to be supportive, understanding, how to work as a team, maturity, respect, acceptance, passion, drive, commitment, belonging, love, determination, grit, resourcefulness, disappointment, and countless skills that will see her through to adulthood. When you ask my daughter why she is willing to devote her Monday nights, after a long day at school and other commitments, to this place, she says, without reservation or hesitation, "Because there's nothing else like it. " My younger daughter, now 8, unlike my older daughter, is shy and reserved- but also loves to sing and dance. This is the only place that I would trust to handle her anxiety, social emotional development, and the delicate nature of doing hard things (facing fears). I've watched Cheryl and her team support so many kinds of needs, including working with a student who was visually impaired. Now there is also Mariana, who is extremely adept at hearing/ seeing students at their core and crafting something that meets them where they are at. When you go an see the shows, you can tell this is a great place. When you stay a bit longer, you see more, and know that what happens there is immeasurable.

David was one of the absolute highlights of our wedding preparation. My husband and I took private…read moresalsa lessons with him to choreograph our first dance for our May wedding at Rancho Las Lomas, and we truly could not have asked for a better instructor. We started as beginners, but David immediately made us feel comfortable. He was incredibly encouraging, patient, positive, and genuinely invested in helping us. Rather than teaching a generic routine, he created a completely custom choreography for the song we chose and thoughtfully tailored every step to match our skill level. As we improved, he adapted the routine to challenge us while always making sure we felt confident and capable. One thing we especially appreciated was how much he cared about our progress. He regularly recorded videos of our lessons so we could watch ourselves improve, which was not only motivating but incredibly helpful for practicing between sessions. Seeing how far we had come over time was such a rewarding experience. We also attended David's group classes, and he brought the same incredible energy to every lesson. He's an outstanding teacher who creates a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable learning, regardless of experience. One of the most thoughtful things he did was arrange for us to perform our routine during the Thursday night open dance, giving us the chance to practice dancing in front of a crowd before our wedding. That experience did wonders for our confidence and made performing our first dance on our wedding day feel so much more natural. David doesn't just teach dance--he builds confidence, celebrates your progress, and makes the entire experience genuinely fun. Thanks to him, our first dance became one of our favorite memories from our wedding day, and the journey of learning it was just as special. If you're looking for an instructor who is talented, creative, patient, and truly cares about his students, I cannot recommend David highly enough. Whether you're preparing for a wedding, learning salsa for the first time, or simply looking for an amazing instructor, you'll be in the very best hands.

Some of those instructors don't teach at Jagged anymore, but the quality was consistent across the board. First of all, I would not recommend taking 3 classes in a row. I was excited to be there, and it was my only opportunity to visit during my trip. I love how Jagged utilizes their small space to simultaneously teach pole and aerial or stretch classes. Instructors truly cater to the level of their students. They're SO strong and talented! I found each class to be sufficiently challenging, and the community is wonderful too. But I felt so intimated by my new machine. I ticked it away for years but I saw an email for a Moving Thread beginner 4-week workshop. 3 hours each session. Last night was class 1 of 4. My class was six ladies aged from mid 20s to late 60s. One never sewed. Two hand sewed. And two of us used machines 20 and 30 years ago and one lady had a machine and used it but felt intimidated. So we were all pretty nervous about our fledgling sewing skills. But the class was paced perfectly and by the end of our first class we successfully completed beautiful reversible totes! The workshop is $550 and it's a great value: project 1 tote, project 2 zipper pouch, project 3 pants (two classes). Our instructor was warm, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, helpful. My only drawback are the chairs. They're not comfortable for me and my leg felt like it wanted to go numb. No one else seemed uncomfortable so maybe it's just me.
