I stayed here May 5-6 and was assigned Room 6. Pros: Check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean, everything worked as expected, and the bed was very comfortable. Cons: There's a big step going into the room, which could be a bit tricky, especially with luggage. The toilet area is also pretty tight and not very spacious. Unfortunately, this place didn't have the cleanliness or sense of comfort and safety that should be standard with overnight accommodations. This is a modest hotel, but very comfortable and accommodating. Our room slept four people--two on a sofabed--and had a little kitchenette. The decor is cute and has obviously been redone recently. Best part? The owner used to have a bakery and she loves to provide afternoon cookies and breakfast pastries (along with fruits and yogurt). Difficult to rate. I've had way better for this price, but compared to other local options...I can't say. I drove past another place and was at least happy that my manager got me this room while in town for work. There are not a lot of local options. The outside makes it look a lot worse than it is. I feel like the owners are doing the best they can with the resources they have (Also, not sure if he's the owner or just a manager, but the guy at the front desk was SUPER chill and nice and changed my whole attitude about this place. When I arrived I was a little sketched out and wasn't sure if I'd even end up staying, but after talking to him I felt a lot safer and more confident about giving it a chance). Pros: Clean Good customer service Close to where I worked this weekend Super warm water Great water pressure in shower Quieter than I expected being downtown Microwave/fridge Cons: Looks super sketchy outside Internet kept kicking me off (and I had to restart my work report TWICE D: lol) All in all, this is DEFINITELY a motel and definitely not a chain hotel. I spent four nights at the Selkirk in early-May. The couple that owns it has been there a little more than a year and they have been working pretty hard to fix the place up. We (me, wife, two dogs) stayed in the queen kitchenette. It was crowded during the week, a lot of working class guys working up in Northeast Washington. Very quiet on the weekend. Pros: * really, really friendly owners * some new rooms (i think some are still being fixed up) * very good rates (perhaps because I look at them from a Seattle POV) * surprisingly quiet rooms - there were a lot of guys hanging out in each other's rooms drinking beer and having a good time but when we closed our door we didn't hear anything * pet friendly Cons: * rooms were pretty small - fine for a single, tight for a couple, really tight for a couple with two small-ish mutts * no a/c (but the weather was comfy when we were there * very tight parking lot - not a lot of capacity and tough to get out of The Selkirk is always going to be an affordable side-of-the-road type place, but I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to folks, as long as they know what they're getting. It's probably a bit better than staying at Benny's and I've never stayed at the other Colville motel (Comfort Inn). Solid three stars, might creep up to four someday if they keep fixing it up. read more

Wow. All I can say is wow. Absolute bullshit! I made a reservation, that they lost track of and ended up having to pay more for a room that smelled like mold, I'm glad she asked me to check it! I had a few more questions and the lady behind the counter blow up on us! Dont say any bad word's! You must believe in Jesus to get a room here. They threaten to call the cops on us becuase I said it was bullshit, the way they were treating us. We told them we would leave after we got our receipt stating the refund. What a nightmare. The couple who operate the motel are something else and their attitude stinks. They act like we are so lucky to be able to stay in this motel and it is a privilege. It isn't that spectacular, the room is small and bathroom tiny so in my opinion these people should appreciate any business that comes through their door. Would NEVER stay here again, and rather save the money and sleep in my car than give my hard earned money to these guys! AVOID!!! read more

I'm not sure what the negative reviewers here are on about. We've stayed all over the country, in rated hotels and AAA little baby tiny motels. And frankly? This was pretty nice. Newly renovated, clean, friendly, and all the little touches attended to. Fluffy towels, kitchen amenities, coffee service, clean clean clean. The parking lot's small, but get your shit together and check in on time. No problem. There's no soda machine, but again, get it together and the owner will sell you a beverage for a buck. Or walk down the road. It's a little town, but with access to what this part of the PNW has to offer, plus you don't have to put up with a thousand excited kids running around? Come on. Totally worth the $68. Plus! Our dogs got to stay, no problem. $20 extra, and we weren't jerks about cleaning up their fur and water slobber. Will definitely return. read more

OK. You aren't in the most hospitable place around for strangers in this town. An admirable effort has been made to modernize Main St. with some murals and statues, but drunks stagger from the bars, meth heads are roaming the sidewalks talking to themselves, twitching and following you..."Spare change....spare change?" The motel is set on Main St and is curiously paved with the most unleveled and unsettling slopes, you're sure flooding will occur if raining or snowing. There seem to be groups who permanently (more or less) stay there, sitting around watching with interest your vehicle and the things you take into your room. You KNOW this is a place to lock the car. The rooms are sparsely equipped. If you are out walking around, the police will even slow down and give YOU the evil eye so this probably isn't a great place to plan a stay... read more

My family and I stayed 4 days in the newly remodeled Selkirk Motel for 4 nights last month. It's location makes it easy to access the downtown area of Colville. The folks that manage the motel, Shari & Paul are super friendly and made us feel completely at home. My wife and I stay here during weekends in the hunting season. Sure the rooms are small but they are very clean and comfortable. The owners are doing a great job on renovating the place are are possibly the most friendly couple you could ever wish to meet. They supply little snack packs for hunters a t the start of hunting season which is a really nice touch. I feel like I am staying with family when I am here and can always have a laugh with Sheri and her husband. I would not want to stay anywhere else no matter how big the rooms are, how big the car park is (Never had a problem with manoeuvring my SUV even when the car park has been full of Pickup trucks during hunting season). read more

This motel is the worst I have ever dealt with. I purchased a room for my brother who was traveling across the state for business through Expedia and used my card and put the reservations in his name. When he got there they told him he couldn't run my card unless I was there and had him pay In cash. I asked him where it was listed that online and he said it was a policy. So I asked him where that policy was and he said it was a verbal policy and he was the manager. I told him that wasn't fair and they should list it somewhere before people travel across the state. He told me he was hanging up on me. 5 min later Ryan the manager called me back and said he was kicking my brother out of the motel and refunding him his money because he seemed upset when he got there hours earlier and doesnt want any disgruntle people staying there. I told him I was the one frustrated and why he was taking it out on my little brother who just drove 7 hours to get there. He said because he is the manager and I heard his wife in the background yelling something. This establishment should not be in business and the ownership is the worst I have ever seen. I luckily found another room for my brother in a different town so he didn't have to make that 7 hours drive home in the middle of the night. 07/2013 Please This place was awful, didn't have the amenities advertised, that would work at the same time you had to unplug one to run the next one with an extension cord. running around to the moldy A/C unit, no place to put your luggage, or plug in a cell phone only one working light in the room. The water out of the sink was brown... The beds were even worse with lumpy pillows and gritty bed it was like sleeping on sand. Was shocked at the price they charged for such a poor room. this place just felt dirty. It could be that its just run down, someone in a post said some were remodeled rooms but I dont think thats what I got. The staff was nice but the place wasn't. We would have slept in the car if there wasn't another hotel available. I often stay at local non-chain hotels and have found some great ones, this just wasn't one of them. read more

Beware. Dreadful management that clearly does not understand the concept of customer service, nor how to make the rooms sanitary. Met the bored, ill-tempered 'welcome' desk woman who could care less that we were there. The first room we were given was trashed with the beds all messy and food and towels strewn about. Then we get a room, feels and looks like a dorm room with cinder block walls. Noticed almost immediately the gaping hole in the bathroom ceiling and later hearing rats crawling all around above us knowing they could come through that big hole in the ceiling any time throughout the night..creepy. Went to wash my hands and discovered that the towels hanging were from the previous guests, one had brown spots on it that I don't want to even imagine what it was. I opens the other towel and it was filled with long dark hair strands. We went to the front to kindly ask for more towels and instead got yelled at because it was too inconvenient for her to get us clean towels. Then she slammed the door in our faces! she did eventually bring us towels, but damn...what kind of dont-give-a-rat's-ass place is this? Don't stay here. We should have gone to Colville Inn and so should you. read more

My wife and I needed a place to stay when visiting her grandmother in colville. We batted the comfort inn and benny's around for a few months until I called the Selkirk and was very impressed with the owner, a very nice lady. We booked the King Suite which I was told was newly rennovated. You would not guess that this was a small town motel we were staying at. The room was very nice with AC and kitchenette. On day 2 of our stay, our 1-year old had a fever and got sick. It is times like this that you find the true fabric of those who you are giving your money to. Within minutes, we had a new comforter and towels. The owner and her cleaning staff immediately met our needs. Not only does the Selkirk get 5 stars for service and room quality, but also for price. The Comfort Inn wanted $169 a night for their King Suite. The Selkirk: $89 for one night or $80 per night for 2 night stay or more. I cannot say enough about the Selkirk. I do recommend the King Suite because of the price point. read more
