My favorite part about this place is the inside of the barn which was magically transformed into the perfect setting for the reception. Most guests wouldn't know this, but the barn has really cool rooms for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready/hang out in. The girls' space is sweet and has room for ladies to gather, relax, and primp. The guys' space is more about keeping the guys busy and has a foosball table! The owners are kind and made us feel right at home and made sure the happy couple stayed happy at all times. Thumbs up for On River's Edge!

Our August wedding was magical thanks to Pam and Bob Brown and their wonderful venue on the Little…read moreSpokane River. We visited six wedding sites and knew the minute we walked up the driveway that "this was the place" for us. The Brown's property allowed us the many little locations we wanted for our very personal and detailed celebration. Our loose theme was "woodland bohemian," incorporating live music and a family-style summer supper, served outside, then dancing in the barn afterwards. Pam graciously answered our questions through the process via phone and email and we visited a few times before setup to take inventories of the many items they provide, as well as measurements for our decor. -- This place is really unique in that, along with the rental fee, which is in line or below other venues, the Browns' offer their clients tables, chairs, dozens of mason jars, candle stands, urns, chalk boards, and more to use as you wish. We decided to use their chairs for our ceremony by the arbor and rented wood chairs for our dinner tables, which worked well. We used their tables and rented table clothes, which also saved us money. The grounds are wonderful and we found that having the enormous lawn with games for the few kids who attended was fantastic and allowed their parents to really enjoy themselves. Pam Brown was on hand throughout the evening and worked as hard as anyone there - it was great to have her nearby to let us know where things went during cleanup and to help things along. Our wedding celebration is something we will never, ever forget because of the special unique setting and amenities of On River's Edge.

The current ownership has done a remarkable job of updating and furnishing the venue from the huge couch to the player piano to the beautiful tables and chairs. Second, the venue itself is beyond compare. There is nothing like this. I know it can be used for meetings during the day and receptions in the evenings. There is plenty of room inside and the patios outside are incredible. There is a player piano with all the music you would ever need. There is a great kitchen and prep area. They have set up top notch WiFi. The owners have thought of every small and large detail, even the red ropes for the private elevator to the venue. Finally, the staff, especially Mary, was amazing. They were responsive and professional. Mary was so amazingly accommodating. I cannot begin to express how fortunate we were to find this location. While the capacity is limited to 49, if you are booking an event where you want to have an exclusive experience at a VERY reasonable price, you cannot do any better than The Compass Room. I would also note that you can bring your own caterer and wine and beer making this a great choice for those who want to have lots of food choices and keep the cost reasonable. 100%- without a doubt, I have never felt more passionately about a review. This venue is special and amazing.

Talus was eclectic, artistic and it felt like we were a guest in somebody's amazing house. It was a midweek stay. Maybe there was another couple there. We had the house to ourselves. That night we saw deer grazing out back and it snowed overnight. We woke up to a beautiful scene which included a few people ice skating on the frozen pond. We were in the Kipling suite which had a jet tub big enough for two people to swim is. It had a mini fridge, microwave, small coffee maker with coffee. A definite off the norm place to relax. On a side note, had an over the top dinner at 113 Main.

Hi Heather, Thank…read moreyou for taking the time to respond and engage with the feedback--it's clear you care deeply about the property. We hope that on a future visit, you might experience TRR from the perspective of a first-time guest--someone arriving with the hope of finding a peaceful retreat, but instead feeling somewhat like they've unexpectedly stepped into someone else's private space. While you see meaningful memories and personal touches, guests may interpret these items, photos, and instructions differently. The feeling of intrusion was heightened when the resident innkeeper prepared their own family's meal in the middle of the great room, making the shared space feel less like a guest retreat and more like someone else's home with lingering odors. There's so much to love about the property--the architecture and setting are truly stunning. With a bit of refreshing (particularly in terms of dusting all the bric-a-brac) and a shift in focus back toward creating a getaway experience, TRR could easily return to the high ratings it once enjoyed--as a place where guests can relax, reset, and grow.

The house and grounds are magnificent, the service warm but discrete. Items that in name brand properties you get charged for are gratis here, without asking. Bottled water and ice in the fridge, Keurig machine and selection in the room, wonderful home-made short cookies on a plate, chips and breakfast bars in a basket in the room, and the best part, their own breakfast blend of coffee already for you to brew loaded up in the coffee machine. It is so nice to wake up to a flavorful strong cup of coffee in the morning, this makes the stay worth it right there. The beds are big, comfortable with high end linen. The bathrooms are big, huge, with terrycloth robes and Egyptian towels. Wifi is great with very good speed (35Mb/s avg.). I've stayed in three different rooms and all had their own warm personality and classic touches. I really like the Mountain penthouse room with the small private deck. They know I'm a smoker and always have an ashtray out there waiting. When I come in the door I'm welcomed by name. So nice after a long drive or flight. When I walk in I know that I don't have to worry about anything, it's already taken care of.
