    Absolute rip off! Charged $404 for towing and late fees…read morebecause the car's translission failed despite it being not my fault and contacting Zipcar in advance of the end of rental time twice on the phone. Zipcar refuses to return my money after contacting customer service by phone and chat and disputing the charge via my credit card. The car was with a low tire pressure in one of the wheels which we have only discovered when the trip begun. The car's front passenger window was open when we came to pick it up and the driver's seat had a hole in it made by a cigarette. Overall it was dirty on the inside and it gave an impression of a poorly maintained vehicle. The car's transmission failed unexpectedly and without any action from my side. The transmission could not be shifted into reverse or parking mode. I have contacted Zipcar customer support by telephone twice and explained to the service representative that the car is broken and that this is the reason why I am not able to return it to the correct location on time. The service representative advised that I should leave the car at the gas station. I indicated to the support representative that we should not be charged any extra fees as it is not our fault that the vehicle got broken. I was not able to end the trip in the Zipcar app as it was not located at the dedicated parking spot so I pushed it out of the way of other cars to a parking space and locked it prior to leaving the gas station. I was not offered assistance to get to my place of residency by the Zipcar customer representative and had to walk home. The same evening I contacted Zipcar support in the Zipcar app as I was charged $403.92 for the late return and asked that the above amount be returned to me as the reason I was not able to return the car was that it got broken and therefore I am not responsible to pay these fees. On the contrary it is Zipcar responsibility to maintain their vehicles properly and take care of repairs and associated costs.
