However, enough is enough. This review is about Open Access Medical Care, which is run by Dr. Mehtab Bhambra Dhamija and the Instagram ladies at her practice. So, what happens when an 84-year-old goes to this practice and is notified that her lab reports, which have abnormalities, do? According to Ruby (we don't know if this is her real name) - it is the patient's job to review the results, note the abnormalities, and then schedule an appointment with the doctor. That is the office protocol. OK!!! So, when is the first available appointment for an 84-year-old who has an infection and abnormal reports? Five weeks after the test results came back. "May I speak to the Practice Administrator? " - I request. "Please wait!" 14 minutes later. "She is busy with another patient!" says Ruby. "I will wait" After 44 minutes of waiting, the phone goes quiet. No call back. Could it be possible that the ladies are busy making videos for Instagram? Apparently, there are tons of videos with the doctor and ladies on social media selling cosmetic procedures online. An 84-year-old's life is more precious than making dancing videos. Next stop - medical board of California and the insurance company. Sorry, Dr. Dhamija. 30 years of patronage hold little value at your clinics in Long Beach and at Walk In Medical Clinic in Artesia. That will be another post someday.

I am on dialysis and so he is my Renal Doctor and my vascular surgeon and he has his own procedure rooms on sight. I love the fact if I need to get my AV fistula checked I don't have to go to a hospital wait to be checked in and wait for my doctor to come to do the procedure . He is really concerned with diabetes and how it can lead to renal failure in the Latino community which I respect. And his staff is top notch, when I call or show up they always greet me with a smile. And we laugh and joke around . I've never had that at my former doctor. They make you feel like family more than anything. And even though I now live in Riverside County and not Los Angeles I have kept him as my personal physician . It's worth the drive every two months for my check up. Now I have read complaints that came with low ratings because of long waits. But you need to consider , he is the only physician on staff at times and he usually has procedures mixed in with consult appointments . From what I've seen , he always gives each patient the individual attention they need' he just doesn't worry about our physical well being, but our mental health as well. I've come to learn about his practice and what it entails . Honestly my only complaint I have (and the staff all know this ) no WI FI for the patients lol But I am so happy with the care I receive. So thanks doctor and every one in the office and in the procedure room for taking care of me all these years .

He spends the LEAST amount of time with you as if his office is flooded with other patients he must attend to which is NOT the case! He rushes you in and out and God forbid you have any questions about healing or wellness because his answers are extremely short and not helpful AT ALL! After doing much research of my of my own and having visited him a few times I asked him about diet to heal my kidneys he made this BRIEF statement to me, "eat low potassium and low protien." THATS IT! Never once in an entire year in his so-called "care" did he ever even refer me to a Renal Dietician! Instead, he started my "care" by stating what he thought may be the cause of my AKI and gave the bleekest outlook saying that I could DIE but that because I was young that I would recieve a kidney! HUH! There was NOT ONE DISCUSSION on getting "WELL" and yet he calls his establishment a "Wellness Institue!" OMG! My GFR descended into the dumps (GFR-8) and he sent me to get access for temporary dialysis until my biopsy was approved. The wonderful people at Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach, CA admitted me and gave me my first round of dialysis treatments and did frequent lab work (the results of which was NEVER sought out by Dr. Hon nor his incompetent staff). My GFR then went back up to 16 showing that proper diet and work could reverse my condition (GFR 15 and under is dialysis level) and instead of taking me OFF of dialysis he recommends that I STAY on dialysis and go to Quest Dialysis Center in Long Beach, which he owns! His words, "Since you already have the access why not go to dialysis - it wont hurt." I felt like it was a setup from the beginning! It seemed to be ALL about the $$$ for him or something other than HEALING ME - THATS for SURE! Even at Quest Dialysis there STILL was NO consultation with a dietician AT ALL! If you care to live and heal your kidney as much as you can I would recommend DO NOT go to this doctor!

I am writing this because I am tired of having my time treated like it doesn't matter…read more This is now the THIRD MONTH IN A ROW that my appointment with Dr. Fishman has been changed or canceled because of his schedule. The first time, I was told my office appointment was canceled because he would see me at the dialysis facility instead. Fine. I accepted it. The second time, my appointment was canceled because he was on vacation. Again, I accepted it. Now, for the third month in a row, I get another phone call telling me that my office appointment is being changed because he is going to see me at the dialysis center instead. No. At some point, enough is enough. I am a dialysis patient. My life already revolves around treatments, medications, lab work, and medical appointments. When an office gives me an appointment, I arrange my schedule around it. I expect that appointment to be honored. Patients are expected to show up on time, keep their appointments, and respect the doctor's schedule. Why doesn't that same respect go the other way? When I questioned why my appointment was being changed again, I was suddenly offered a virtual appointment for a later date. That immediately raised another question: if a virtual visit was available, why wasn't my original appointment simply kept or converted instead of being canceled? I'm not going to guess why this keeps happening because I don't know. What I do know is that it has happened three months in a row, and that is a pattern. Unfortunately, this isn't the only reason I've become frustrated with this dialysis center. Too often I feel like patients are expected to accept whatever happens without question, even when it repeatedly disrupts our lives. Respect shouldn't only flow in one direction. Dr. Fishman may be busy. I understand doctors have demanding schedules. But patients have lives too. We work, we have families, we arrange transportation, and we organize our entire day around these appointments. Our time is not disposable. After three consecutive appointment changes, I no longer feel that my time is being respected. That is unacceptable, and patients deserve better.
