My family and I have been going to Walk in Medical in Artesia and Long Beach for over three decades. Over the years, we let things slide because of the founder Kailash Dhamija. However, enough is enough. This review is about Open Access Medical Care, which is run by Dr. Mehtab Bhambra Dhamija and the Instagram ladies at her practice. So, what happens when an 84-year-old goes to this practice and is notified that her lab reports, which have abnormalities, do? [[HIGHLIGHT]]According to Ruby (we don't know if this is her real name) - it is the patient's job to review the results, note the abnormalities, and then schedule an appointment with the doctor. That is the office protocol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] OK!!! So, when is the first available appointment for an 84-year-old who has an infection and abnormal reports? Five weeks after the test results came back. "May I speak to the Practice Administrator? " - I request. "Please wait!" 14 minutes later. "She is busy with another patient!" says Ruby. "I will wait" [[HIGHLIGHT]]After 44 minutes of waiting, the phone goes quiet. No call back[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Could it be possible that the ladies are busy making videos for Instagram? Apparently, there are tons of videos with the doctor and ladies on social media selling cosmetic procedures online. An 84-year-old's life is more precious than making dancing videos. Next stop - medical board of California and the insurance company. They got my name mixed up for my sealed physical report which was a time-sensitive matter. Their mistake cost me another week just to have the paperwork correct my name.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Apparently there's only one physician there that signs off sealed documents, who only comes in a specific time of the day. Even when I called ahead, they were still not ready with my paperwork at the said time it should be ready. There was just no sign of urgency.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called them again, just 30mins before their office closing to give a heads up to pick up the my documents but they didn't answer. However when I reached the office, they weren't even busy. Just chatting amongst them about their weekend plans while the front desk phone was ringing. I told them I had called a couple of times but they paid no mind to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anyways, I'd be wary about coming here for any time-sensitive physical report, especially for immigration. We pay a great deal of money for sealed medical report, so I value my time and patient experience anywhere. No one likes to be frustrated. This is my updated review for Open Access Medical Care: BEWARE OF THIS OFFICE! The staff (of all YOUNG females) is very rude and not knowledgeable at all, especially Sahary...she is alot to deal with! Eva is ok out of all of them, but I have had issues with her as well. I can NEVER reach the office or my doctor by phone, which is unacceptable to me. My husband and I both are NOT pleased with this office, and after only being with Dr. Bambrah for approximately 6 months, I am changing doctors again effective 6/1/24, which is RIDICULOUS, but I CAN'T take this office anymore...THEY HAVE STRESSED ME TOTALLY OUT, and I CAN'T HAVE STRESS IN MY LIFE!!! I just got off the phone with a woman named Eva (someone else answered before her who didn't mention her name, but was just as rude) and had the most difficult time trying to obtain their provider # (since it was not disclosed online as it should be). I let them know that I was adding them as a primary doctor since I just received health insurance through my employer but thank God I called first instead of showing up because they BOTH were extremely rude and hesitant and defensive for no apparent reason. Clearly, that's exactly what I needed to finalized my decision, but I will not be choosing this location. I'm not sure why the attitude was necessary or what kind of sketchy business they have going on here that the first woman had to get someone else on the phone and then I was even put on hold. As a medical provider you always want to employ staff who are welcoming and have some basic human interaction skills and at least some kindness - but that is clearly not what they have going on here. read more

I was just seen as a new patient. This was the worst doctors visit I have been to. The staff was not very knowledgeable. For example, the Medical Assistant did not know how to use a balance scale properly, used the wrong size BP cuff and did not hold my arm up level with my heart, and was not aware of the spelling of commonly used medications. The front desk mumbled when she talked. She did not seem like she knew what to do with the doctors orders. I had to explain how a DME referral works. This was so unprofessional and seemed like this isn't a credible doctors' office. I will not be going back. I will be calling my insurance company to complain. This is the place for you if you are excited about being extorted for the simplest of clerical tasks. Apparently HIPAA doesn't apply to this office and federal law is more of a suggestion, because their policy is to charge $35 for a simple medical records request consisting of a dozen pages from a treatment history spanning less than a year. That doesn't strike me as a "reasonable, cost-based fee. "The Privacy Rule permits a covered entity to impose a reasonable, cost-based fee... I'm not here because it's pretty I'm here because they help me. It really irritates me that people could write so negatively about walk in medical it's low cost and appointments are a breeze to make what more do you want if you want beauty go to Beverly Hills. I have been a patient here for many years and I have nothing but good things to say about my treatment granted this is an old office not as updated in the look but I'm not here to be a critic of that I'm here primarily for the care. Dr. Dhamija has been my doctor and my daughters as well a long time he has always been a caring doctor has made results available to me he is actually kind of fatherly in his bed side manner and gets back to me in a timely manner as well answering all questions he can be to the point at times so what he paid his dues and is really a nice caring doctor. I have seen Dr. Joyce Lazarus for over 2 years she is direct to the point and very caring she tells it like it is and I appreciate that very much she spends a lot of time with her patients is a straight out person and that's what we need no sugar coating and as a woman with specialized problems she is perfect for me to discuss delicate female issues. I have been having a lot of minor health issues lately and taking tests is no fun but at least I'm getting the help I need. Dr. Lazarus is the best and as long as I'm able she is who I'm going to see. The staff is really nice as well today I spoke with Tiffany and she is really cool very helpful she had me out in a timely manner and I appreciate that. read more

I love my doctor!! She is a great listener and takes all my concerns very serious. I highly recommend. Clean office and staff is very nice.

10+ years ago, I had tried 3 different doctors who could not figure out what was causing intense pain in my feet. It was suggested I go to a physiatrist (because of course they can't figure it out--therefore it must be in my mind). Then after a few months I thought I would try this medical office while my friend was here also. I talked about this unbearable pain. Doctor Mehtab Bambrah-Dhamija said to me after just a couple of minutes, "You have Diabetic Neuropathy. I'll prescribe to you this medication with a starter dose and increase the dosage as needed." For the first time in months I slept through the night--on that first tablet!!! That's when I knew, they are a little smart around here. Recently I was describing this new kind of pain mostly in the bottom portion of my legs which I thought was too much protein as far as I could figure out. However, Doctor Mehtab told me, "It sounds more like uric acid build up (from my diabetes) or a chemical imbalance. We will find out for sure after your blood tests come back." Doctor Mehtab has done it again. Before the results of the blood test she has already it figured out. Think of that. When the nurse Bianca drew blood, my blood vessels were not cooperating. I have my doctor that I usually go with but I been wanting to find another doctor/clinics since my usual doctor never really takes the time to ask me questions it's always an in and out type of rush visit. So I Yelp "walk in clinics" since I don't have insurance yet so this clinic came up and decided to give it a try. The moment I walked in i got Greeted and the girls from the front desk were really nice and helpful. Tiffany was the one that took my weight and took some information down for the doctor.
