John's class was recommended to me by a friend. So, when it was time to sign up for a CCW class, I called John. The course content was well-organized, informative, and very well presented with both a slide presentation and written materials. John is an excellent instructor who was well prepared and had the class room set up early. I appreciated the in-class demonstrations, as well as the display of numerous types of holsters. John also spent time providing suggestions on locations where you might wear your weapon for concealed carry. These were great pearls of wisdom which I hadn't given much thought to, until John pointed this information out. The time spent at the range was awesome. John provided clear, careful instructions to insure everyone's safety. Again, John was early at the range and had meticulously set up tables and targets for our group. He demonstrated a variety of tips to consider when defending yourself and set up scenarios for our shooting demonstration which made the activity a lot of fun & informative. My wife and I just took our CCW Renewal training with John on 10/21/18. We went back to John after getting our CCW permits back in 2013. John is a true professional who has clearly been doing this a long time. There was a well designed and very clear 4 page course overview package emailed with safety equipment, firearms, and ammo requirements along with easy to follow directions to the facility. We like his calm and clear methods of communicating range commands, the do's and don'ts of his facility, the training, and none of the outlandish bravado that is sometimes encountered with some "Firearms Experts". He encourages participation in discussions, there are no "stupid question" looks given, something my wife appreciates! After the shooting, changes in the local and state laws were reviewed. John refreshed our memory regarding next steps for the application and fingerprinting... John provides the *complete* package! Imagine my surprise when John sent a Thank You email with 7 pdf's with additional information that is jam packed with even more very useful information! Excellent full-day initial CCW course. John provides some excellent background on 2nd amendment history and gun ownership rights. He provides detailed background about the Nevada Statues and realistic case scenarios to discuss in class that help in understanding how these statues apply to private citizens and firearms. The classroom size is kept small (~ 6 persons) and the pace is easy to follow along and stay engaged. Several example firearms and holsters are shared in the class to get a hands on understanding of safe handling, operation, ammunition, and the many options for concealed carry. After the classroom sessions and written test, the practice time on the range was very well done. Again the small class size is nice because it allows for some 1 on 1 interaction as needed, and we were able to move along efficiently with fewer number of shooters. read more

I needed to renew my CCW and tried another outfit first. They were supposed to email information about how I could sign up and pay. They never sent the email. I called them daily for a week to remind them to send it and they never responded. On the 7th day I gave up and then called John Glatthar at Semper Firearms. It was quick and painless to sign up and he was flexible with class dates since we had 4 people that needed to renew. I've had a bunch of CCW instructors over the years, and he was the best I've had. I have no suggestions how he could improve. I also really liked his small and tidy range. The shooting drills were entertaining and practical. John is friendly, knowledgeable, and proficient. He knows what he's doing. The class ended in time for us to turn in our papers at the Sheriff's office the same day. Highly recommended. read more

I needed to renew my CCW permit and called multiple trainers, some had openings two weeks out and some didn't know when they would have another training. Called John today and luckily he had an opening and one hour later I was at his sweet range and classroom. We went right to work with a great safety briefing and started our shooting skills, which included malfunctions. The classroom portion covered a lot of real life situations and legal issues that could arise being a permit holder. It far exceeded training that I have had with some local trainers at shields then drive out to the Mustang range. I took my first class with John Glather and have gone to him every 5 years to re-qualify. From the first class to the last qualification this last week, John is a good instructor, especially for women. He is VERY knowledgeable about guns, ammo, laws that are on the books and above all, he is VERY safety-oriented. His class sizes are not so big that you get lost in the shuffle and he has always been respectful of me as a female, I have never felt stupid for asking a question or doing something wrong as he was training me. The other thing I truly appreciate, I am also handicapped, John took EVERYTHING into consideration to help me be able to re-qualify and pass once again. My wife and I took John's Firearms 101 class and both thought it was excellent. My wife was a true beginner having never fired a weapon in her life. I'm a Viet Nam vet but hadn't fired a weapon in many years. My wife appreciated John's ability to instruct and correct students without making them feel foolish. I appreciated his knowledge of firearms and technical issues. We both thoroughly enjoyed the class, especially the range time. My wife now has basic skills and is more comfortable around firearms. He is very knowledgeable about the course and very helpful in teaching the various skills and requirements for CCW carry and use.John takes the time to go through various shooting drills and disciplines to prepare you for a real life situation. John Glatthar is very knowledgeable about all aspects of firearms safety, codes and guns. The classroom portion is very thorough, but John keeps it interesting. As a woman, I feel very comfortable in his classes, and would not hesitate to recommend A+ Firearms Training to other women. When it comes time for the range portion, John is very safety oriented, and takes time to make sure each student knows the proper way to handle their weapon, and gives helpful suggestions on ways to improve. Just had my CCW Renewal class with John Glatthar from Semper Firearms Training. It was a great class in a classic Nevada outdoor range environment. John provided us with safe hands on live fire firearm training with engaging exercises that prepared us for the required shooting test. John is the consummate professional. I have just completed my third ccw renewal with him and I wouldn't go back if I didn't think he had much to offer. He stays focused on safety, is efficient in his use of class time and range time, relays experience that is relevant and timely, and is very courteous and respectful to everyone. John was the BEST instructor in firearm's training I have ever had in 35 years. He was very knowledgeable, respectful, kind and patient. I had a ton of anxiety renewing my CWP. Based on his expertise, he was immediately able to instinctively access the anxiety in me and turned the training into a learning experience that I embraced rather than feared. This was the best CCW renewal class I have taken! The range is on a private, secured property with an easy drive from Reno. The weather was perfect, and the class size was small. John provided lessons on safety, improving shooting skills, and tactical techniques prior to the qualification test. I got both a semi-private lesson along with updates to the CCW/gun laws in Nevada. There is a sheltered area for classroom discussion, and we started on time and ended on time. John was very attentive, both for safety purposes as well as instruction.
