This was my fourth tat (the first 3 were not done at this location) and I have to say, that I'm most pleased with this shop. I made an appointment with Luis for 5 PM. I arrived a little late, about 5:15 but it worked out as he was not finishing someone up. I waited patiently (and a little nervously lol) as he finished the client. I observed him sanitize and throughly clean his area before he invited me over to talk. He talked with me about the design I wanted, and he created the stencil. I loved the stencil and Luis confidently reassured me that I would be fine, that he would be gentle with the needle, and that it should take about 30 mins. All great reassurance (me personally I love when a worker can confidently reassure their customer) We began and it was over in no time. It didn't hurt me at all, but like I've stated this is my 4th tattoo and it was also in a great spot. I was also happy with the overall cleanliness of the shop and the staffs professionalism. My only downfall I would just say the size of the overall shop. It is definitely on the small side but they did a great job at setting up each artist's station with sturdy opaque partitions in between. I will definitely be back and I definitely recommend. Such as it may not come out the way I want it, or over time, those are the quickest tattoos to fall apart. I know over time, I can always have an artist re tattoo it. Dan was able to fit me in. Although he gave me the whole spiel, he got ruined the work. I showed him another style from another artist. He recreated it his own way, and I got a tattoo created right there. In addition, a little lesson in tattoo techniques and other artists. He was very authentic, patient, and caring while doing my tattoo. Dan takes pride in his work and his ability to execute what his clients want. I can't wait to do some more work with him.

This place had a promotion over Friday the 13th weekend for both tattoos and piercings. I went in…read morefor a piercing and a friend for a tattoo and per their instagram post, the piercings were $25. They had a maximum of 4 piercings but no minimums. When I asked for the total they wanted to charge $50 total for one (not including their mandatory tip) and then when confronted about their instagram post and their rules - they said that's how they've been operating this weekend. Misleading and upsetting. Besides placing a "mandatory" tip, this leaves a bad taste in your mouth and makes you not want to come back ever again. If it's mandatory... it's not a tip. The whole concept of a tip is based off of the piercer's performance. I ended up getting another to meet the "minimum" to attain the piercing at the advertised price ($25) but the piercer, Hosco, was already acting differently (negatively) once called out with his boss regarding the pricing and their post. (Attaching said post, which is now deleted, here.) Something that was supposed to be fun turned into feeling like you got scammed. $25 for both, $50. Then the "mandatory" tip of $7 for both, $14. Total of $64. Oh and if you don't leave a tip in addition the mandatory tip, you get stink eye. Don't even get me started on the up charge on tattoos and ink versus colored ink. This place is dishonest, the management is not well versed in English (not a problem, but he forgets that other people can understand Spanish and his conversations about upcharging customers are understood by Spanish speakers). But Gene's process is unique and therefore, not for everyone. I'm hoping to give a little insight into how he works so people can get a better sense of what to expect. Here goes: I've wanted a tattoo for a while now and started researching artists about a year ago. I knew I wanted something really unique for my first ink, which is how I came across Tattoo Culture. Gene Coffey's work immediately grabbed me and (even though I kept looking around at other artists) I somehow knew I would wind up back with him. Be aware: Gene's work is one-of-a-kind and that means he is in high demand. He only takes consultations a few times a year and books his tattoo sessions months in advance. Before starting this process, I urge you to do your research. Get to know his work, his style... what he does and doesn't do. Also, you need to appreciate the fact that each of his tattoos is a custom piece. That's the part that specifically drew me to him - the fact that no one else out there is going to have my tattoo. But that means you're gonna have to let go and trust. During the consultation, we talked about the image I wanted... we discussed the elements that were important to me and he took the time to explain what would look best. He even made a rough sketch for me. But that was it. It was explained to me that I wouldn't see the final design until the morning of my tattoo session. I felt like he and I really connected, so I trusted him fully. But again... know whether this is the right fit for you. Gene is a genius - a true artist - but given the permanent nature of a tattoo, this kind of thing freaks people out sometimes. My timeline: I called in March (3/4) and they told me to call back in May, which I did (5/2). I had my consultation (5/18), and then they booked me for the next session they had open (7/27). All in all, about a 5 month process. They sent me a google reminder so it would sync with my calendar, and then called to confirm the appointment the week before. When I showed up the day of my appointment, Gene had the design all ready for approval. We chatted about it for a few minutes and then he got to work. He told me early on that he works fast - and he wasn't kidding. 3 hours total. No breaks. He just kept plowing through. The process was efficient and professional, which really helped ease my anxiety. The staff was polite, and Gene is a genius. His unique style is what drew me to this shop and I will undoubtedly return. Grateful for his time and talent, and wishing him lots of success as his work continues to evolve. Best of luck to anyone trying to get in with him... it's worth every penny!
