Food is great! Fun clean place. Shakes and malts are not made with regular scooped ice cream but instead they have a soft serve vanilla and soft serve chocolate machine and use that. A chcolate malt doesn't seem to be anything other than soft serve chocolate with a little malt m powder. However, the sodas are a unique brand and are fantastic so get those (i.dont even like soda!). They have the regular big cola brand and stuff but go the unique grape, etc or my fave....state fair lemonade. It lives up to its name! read more

I'm not sure what happened to this place. We hadn't been for about 2 years so my husband and I decided to make the 30 minute drive last night. We ordered 2 burgers, one fry and 2 drinks... $18. That would have been fine, expect the burgers were paper thin, undercooked, the cheese wasn't melted and the buns were dry to the point of being stale. I was working nearby Waynes for a couple of weeks and ended up dining in about 6 times after my first visit. This is high praise since I usually cook all my own meals and rarely eat out. Absolutely great quality, simplistic burger. I go about 90% carnivore diet but I can make an exception for the Sheboygan hard roll. I have enjoyed Kroll's & Al's up in Green Bay, but I think Wayne's has got the simple burger perfected. Ask for Mark the Electrician's 1LB Burger, when you order. read more

In my opinion, the quality of the hamburgers has definitely diminished since my last visit. After visiting Wayne's on "car night" once a week during the summer, I took a hiatus for a year. When I returned and ordered their cheeseburger, I was unpleasantly surprised. Not only did the cost skyrocket but the quality and taste had suffered. My son, a hamburger lover, could not finish his and into the trash it went. I have since learned that many of the negative changes were the result of new ownership, between the time of my previous visits and my last visit. read more

We've lived here for 20 years and have always frequented Wayne's in the summers. The kids used to love the hula hoop contests etc. Their burgers have always been the "best burgers ever" in my opinion; they would come DRIPPING with butter (yummo!!) and the bread was AMAZING!!! However, the last two summers have been terrible. I'm not sure what changed, but the burgers definitely do NOT taste the same. I think we're done going there unfortunately. It's sad as it was such an amazing tradition with our family to eat there once every couple of weeks. I just got my very last hamburger there tonight and I couldn't even finish it. It was not good. Cute spot with old school vibes. Stopped by on a Thursday for their vintage car night. They had plenty of outdoor seating and some inside seating. Solid menu full of classic diner food options. Service was good and pretty swift for a very busy night. I only opted for ice cream that night, but they exclusively carry a large selection of Cedar Crest Ice Cream which was delicious! I am surprised by the number of good reviews. Went with my family Saturday, got there right when they opened. We ordered cheese burgers, fries with cheese, onion rings and fountain drink. First observation was that there weren't any adults working, second was that the teens helping us didn't care to answer questions that we had (it was our first time there). First impression of food was the the cheese wasn't melted, the bun was huge compared to the burger, the cheese for fries was straight out of a can (come on we live in the cheese capital of the world!). The first bite of the burger is still regrettable. This had to be the worst burger I have ever had in my life. It was like someone had puréed ground beef into a paste and then formed into a thin patty. It still makes my stomach turn to think about it. We stopped here for the first time today. And short, the burger is totally "meh". Kind of dry, the cheese was a slice of American thrown on top with a partial melt. The bun was average and bready. That said, the milkshake was really good. And the ice cream, Cedar crest, looks awesome as well. You just gotta love places like this that pop up from no where as you are driving by and somehow "lure" you in. Well on this hot July day, the lure was a cold drink and I was starving as breakfast was long in my rear view mirror when we drove past. Being that it was about 2pm, I was surprised to see a line inside as we queued up to place our order. But we seemed to be the only people ordering their burgers, everyone else was there for their Cedar Crest ice cream, and why not? It was HOT and ice cream was a definite option as I watched person after person enjoying their treats. But I decided on a burger and tots (tots are always my fav). We were lucky to get a table indoors given the heat and soon the counter was calling our number, so my friend went up to grab our food. My cheeseburger was delicious, topped with crunchy lettuce and ripe tomatoes and the biggest slice of onion I had seen in awhile. They do ask if you want grilled or raw onion in true WI style! Old School ketchup squeeze bottles are on the tables so never a shortage of the red stuff! It's fast food so we were in and out in about 30 minutes. I hear this place is only open seasonally so if you want to check it out, seems like Summer is when you will have to do that. Loved the friendly staff as well which is a rarity in fast food restaurants these days. Next time I head to Waynes? This restaurant is excellent. The food and ice cream and great, and the dinning area inside is very nice. The service is also very good. The only issue is the volume of the music playing, but I assume that sitting underneath the speaker that should be expected. Since I am hard of hearing, the volume of the music made it more challenging to carry a conversation. That is a small issue with a fairly simple solution. I only mention this if anyone with children sensitive to loud music, then you can be aware prior to choosing your seat. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a dreary Friday afternoon. We have been wanting to come here for a few years now and happened to make our way out of the city and up to this place today. He ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. After we placed our order we received a buzzer and sat at one of the tables outside until our order was ready. It's nice that they have a large tent in the back with plenty of seating for guests to enjoy, as well as very clean restrooms outside. Our food was delicious and very much reminded us of a place we used to go to in our hometown, but only better. When you're here you can't leave without getting some ice cream, so we split a double cone of the pirates bounty. That was also very good. We stopped by Wayne's Drive-In for the first time on a Saturday afternoon on our way to go apple picking. The food was delicious and well-priced, and the atmosphere was exactly what one would expect for a nostalgic 50's-style diner. The ordering process was quick and easy, and our food came out in a short amount of time. I went for the Mushroom Swiss Burger and my significant other chose the Double Cheeseburger. We ordered a side of fries and a side of tater tots to try them both, as well as a peanut butter milkshake. The food was all delicious and definitely hit the spot. Normally I would be a little disappointed the mushrooms on my burger were canned and not fresh, but with the brown gravy and the swiss cheese melting everywhere it was hard to complain. I tried a bite of the double cheeseburger, which was delicious as well, especially with the fried onions. The burgers were both cooked perfectly. The tots were good but we both agreed the fries were better; perfectly golden and buttery. The shake was fantastic, and with the food was a good size to split. A longtime fixture in the community, Wayne's likely draws on the nostalgia of people recalling fond memories of coming here when they were younger. I have my own hometown drive-in I must stop at whenever I go home. Prices seem a little on the high side for drive-in food but not outrageously so. I don't find any particular great flavor in the meat. My most recent burger was a little greasier than I like. I do like that they use a Sheboygan style hard roll as the bun. Fries & cheesecurds are pretty good as are the shakes/malts. A worthwhile stop if you're in the area looking for a blast back to a different era. read more

I have been going to wayne's my whole life and ever since they got new management the place has gone downhill. I went in today to get my regular cheeseburger and when i grabbed their "new" franks red hot buffalo dipping sauce. I opened it and it was a caramel color, and i never had it before so I tried it and when I put it into my mouth it was DISGUSTING. I GAGGED. After i violently threw up i went back to check the expiration date and found out it had been EXPIRED FOR A YEAR. I am very disappointed how management lacks basic skills of checking expiration dates, it makes me wonder what else is expired. STOP!!!!! This is my new standard for fast food. I'm not into nostalgic dining rooms or unique concepts...I'm into food. And, when it comes to fantastic burgers or fish fillet sandwiches, this is as good as it gets. The seasoned burgers are very juicy and flavorful. The bun is among the best in the business. And these burgers come out hot. They also use a high grade Wisconsin cheese on the cheese burgers. But wait. There's more...lots more. The fish fillet sandwich is the tastiest available anywhere. Is it the bun? Is it the fish? Is it the coating? Is it the high end cheese. It doesn't matter. It's just delicious! The onion rings are incredible, and the fries, while not my style, are house cut, house made excellence. And...they serve a locally crafted, artisan soda that has a cola flavor to take on McDonalds coke and George Webb Pepsi. I love the McDonalds Coke like an addict, but I'm telling you this stuff is really great. So, great food, generous portions, everything fresh and hot. Really nice people, really good stuff, not a lot of coin. What else do you need on a road trip on a lazy Sunday? Recently we put the top down and rolled out to Wayne's following along the lakefront. What a fun place to visit and the parking lot had 3-4 vintage convertibles and cars, and a handful of motorcycles. You go inside and up to a counter to order and I knew I wanted a sundae later so I went light on lunch, ordering a grilled cheese. It was really good, crunchy yet the bread wasn't flattened. For dessert I went all out and got a hot fudge sundae made with the Cedar Crest ice cream. I selected Daily Grind, a coffee ice cream with a caramel swirl, and crushed chocolate-covered espresso beans. Complete with whipped cream, nuts and a cherry on top it was perfect. My belly was comfortably full and I felt just a little indulgent. That's a great feeling to enjoy on a Sunday afternoon! read more

At first sight this restaurant might feel nostalgic given the reference to a drive in. The menu fit the bill with burgers, fries, hot dogs, and shakes. I brought my family here during a corvette night with hopes of a great burger and shiny Vette's of today and yesteryear. We all ordered burgers and fries or tots with chocolate shakes. The burgers tasted like food service burgers that had a very airy and filler type consistency. You know the kind! Like the ones you would buy in a box at Sams Club! I think their saving grace was the bun. Yes the bun was a bakery bun lightly toasted with butter but it wasn't enough to sidetrack your tastebuds from the fake bland tasting meat. The sides were good and the shake was wonderful however a drive in where the burger is king should offer sometime fresh tasting and well seasoned. It's not difficult even for an average cook like myself to prepare a burger that makes a good impression! I appreciate the fact that they support local charities but save yourself the trouble and get a good burger at a lower price at Culver's! Went for a drive the other day and came across Wayne's Drive-In purely by chance. I've been hearing the radio commercials (a little ditty that will get stuck in your head) for quite a while, but never really made this place a destination. First off, it is a really cool looking old diner. It is a round building with lots of funky character and neon signs as well as an enormous parking lot. And as great diners go, it has the polished stainless, the red vinyl and plenty of memorabilia on the walls. My service was great - waitstaff was happy and full of pep. Everyone who came in the door was greeted immediately and taken care of promptly. I ordered the cheeseburger and a Black Cow and took a seat at the counter. The burger was very good - well seasoned with a great fresh hard roll and the ever so important, big pat of Wisconsin butter. The Black Cow was made with Cedar Crest ice cream and Sprecher Root Beer - a perfect combo. Looking forward to going back next week with a bus load! read more

I just don't get all the hype about this place. It is a cute place with 1950's throwback decor but how do you call a place a drive-in when they don't serve you at your car? The burgers are allegedly their claim to fame. The meat is good quality but they put a disgusting huge dollop of butter on top which makes condiments run off the patty. I understand the lure of a butter burger but this is a little over the top. The bun was actually dry so I don't know if the butter was there to disguise the over crisp texture. People obviously think that this place is the best in the world but maybe because there aren't a ton of good burger places in Cedarburg. It was crazy crowded with a line over 10 deep and they didn't open up another register. Our service was decent but I can see where they might have service issues. Pricing was a bit high for the quality. Everything is priced ala carte including tomato and lettuce. A plain cheeseburger, fries and soda will run you $7.70 which isn't horribly expensive but it just wasn't that amazing. Personally I will stick with my Milwaukee burger joints and be happy. read more

What a precious place, I absolutely love Wayne's!! If you love diners like I do, this place does not disappoint. Stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered food and took outside to eat at one of their many picnic tables. Had to wait a bit, but it's all made to order, so was very worth much worth the wait. No problem having our small dog eating with us outside. The double burger was good, the buns awesome! Turkey burger and chicken tenders were both delicious.
