We stopped here on our way camping a couple weeks ago. The playground was fun, and included a little zipline. The splash pad is huge. Staff sprays off everyone's feet so they don't bring in beach debris. The swimming beach is so shallow. My boys walked for the longest time and even when they started to swim, they could still stand if they wanted. Warm, too. Not the softest sand, but the way out into the lake isn't too bad. The way back, it feels a little more prickly. Guess the rocks face away from the beach. Plenty of parking, seating and shade. read more

Seneca Lake State Park has several good things going for it. It's nice to look at and clean; it's also a fun place to head for if you want to go jogging or take a walk. Tip: There's a path here which (upon closer examination) is actually an old street that's in a pretty far-gone state of disrepair. It's so far gone that it's actually too rough to ride a bike on :-( I suggest you learn from our mistake - if you're actually intended to go for a bike ride, you should seek out another destination. read more

Nice beach, water very clear, shallow, only went up like chest deep on my 5' 10" husband. Open splash pad very nice, attendances wash feet before entering. Has a concession stand. read more

The park has a variety of things to do. We came for the splash pad and beach. The swim area at the beach was very shallow and not actually swimmable for most, including children. The water was gross= warm swamp water. Splash pad was freezing, not enjoyable (but uncontrollable) and not really a lot of activities for the kids to do on the splash pad. Great State Park. Access to Seneca, boat or beach. Big area for everyone to enjoy. Walk along waterfront or bike.

90° day and the splash pad is closed indefinitely. After a 40 minute break, the young staff did not know how to get it restarted. Please do better!!! We drove 45 minutes and never even got a toe wet. read more

The northern beach and rim of this finger lake has been carved into a long thin park where you can touch the beach and water, ride bikes or run the paths near the water. A lot of picnic and playgrounds for the kids including a very fun mini zipline like ride. Parking is along the side of the road in most areas or in the parking lot areas near the welcome or visitor center. A lot of geese and duck in the waters, and a marina off to the east side of the park for those who have boats. New York park pass works here, or $8 for visitors. read more

Picturesque and easy to navigate, at least in the area where we were. The main entrance is at the center of the head of the lake. It's manned, and there's a $7 parking fee. The guy on post told us if we parked in a little lot outside the gate, we could walk in without paying. But we opted to go to the Visitors Center nearby and park our Tesla at a charging space there. There is a well paved biking and walking path and the lake is lined with rows of willow trees and benches. Plenty of families biking and people jogging/walking/strolling. Would be a great place for a picnic-bring your own basket and blanket. read more

I moved out West 10yrs ago and have not been back to visit in 8 yrs. Seneca Lake was alway a place we enjoyed every summer. I was really looking forward to seeing what new additions had been made to the beach area and was blown away at how many new play areas there are. When I left the only thing there was a small playground area and the spray pad had just opened. When I lived there the beach was usually filled with dead fish and algae so it wasn't very pleasant. I was blown away at the changes that have been made. The new playground is awesome and I felt safe allowing my Grandchildren to just jump from one jungle gym to another without the worry of sharp edges or splinters. The play areas are shade covered, smooth surfaces and the ground covering was clean and a soft landing if one of the kids were to fall. The spray park was open but it was still a little cold for them to be in it but it was clean, fenced and it looked larger than I remembered. The picnic pavilions looked freshly painted and they have added a lot more picnic tables for parents to just sit and watch their kids play or have lunch. We walked down to the beach area and it was free of dead fish and algae and we actually waded around and the kids played in the sand. It was a beautiful relaxing and forever memorable day watching my Grandchildren play and make memories without worry. read more

This park is an excellent place to go for a long walk, bike ride, picnic, BBQ, swim, sit on the beach, kayak, etc. You can take the kids to a cool playground/SPRAYground (100 water jets that spray water to cool you off). It costs $7.00 per car load to enter the park** (see below for an alternative). Dogs are permitted on a leash. This park has picnic shelters for rent. It also has two boat marinas. The main entrance is kind of in the middle of the park. My review is based upon going for a long walk then having a picnic afterwards. If you are walking/jogging, you will decide if you want to make a left or a right. If memory serves me correctly, the walk was ~6 miles total (non-loop). Take a right: The walkway runs along side of the lake, what a view! We had a constant breeze coming off the water. You can walk on the tree-lined grass or on the pavement. Then, the walkway turns into a "boardwalk" where you will find a fishing area & a jetty. The sights/sounds of the seagulls reminded me of the shore. ** At this end of the park you will find a playground next to the Ramada hotel (btw, looks like a nice hotel) where you can park for free. Take a left: Same view of the lake but this end of the park will take you toward the SPRAYpark and marina. We noticed that this marina had a lagoon that goes under an old train bridge (man, I would love to kayak that) and I assume that is how the boats enter into the lake? We also spotted this very small, waterfront Tiki bar (Tiki Bar North) that I am going to have to check out next time! Love this park. read more

Absolutely stunning! Must see when visiting The Finger Lakes! 832 steps up the gorge, well worth the hike!

We decided to visit after a tour around Geneva for food and wine. The park is quite big, but the website didn't offer much in terms of helpful information about where any of the amenities were actually located in the park. We parked near the beachfront area and sprayground, then walked about 1/2 a mile to a more quiet area. Unless you have a lakehouse, this is your primary access to Seneca Lake waterfront so if you're ok with the $7 car fee, then it's a go. But we didn't spend enough time there to make that worth it. Plan ahead, bring towels, blankets, picnic setup, chairs, etc. The lake is rocky so bring water shoes. There's also a concession stand and lots of bathrooms around. Less shady tree coverage than we hoped too. Most of the pavilions were rented, grills were occupied, and rambunctious kids were running around in the spray-ground (kids-only access) and playground. This place definitely seems more of the family-friendly weekend outing variety than other state parks in the area. There is a long walkway along the water so that's a nice option, but to pay $7 for that, I don't know if it's worth it. Make a day of it with a picnic or grill setup and you'll get some bang for your buck. read more

It's crazy there are not any reviews about this park. It was such a great time and it only costs $7 per car load. They do have limited lifeguards at certain points in the year so call ahead if you really want to swim. Some areas of interest with children are the many playgrounds for different age levels throughout the park. They have a gigantic spray ground so bring a bathing suit. And of course there is the lake beach. There are many bathrooms and even a concession stand. We brought our lunch and picnicked under one if many shady spots. This park is really nice , especially for children. read more

When we first drove I was very impressed with how much there seemed to be. Plenty of amenities for families, picnic tables and benches in shade and the spray ground which is a giant splash pad. However, the swimming area was disgusting. So. Much. Trash. There were piles of driftwood along the paths to walk and it stunk! I couldn't go swimming in literal trash and the stink was a turn off. We stayed and the kids play on the spray ground and on several of the playgrounds. Their bathrooms were clean and kept up with. I just wouldn't plan on swimming there. read more

Sorry this park is a little disappointing. Yes there are pretty places to walk and it's nice they have a spray park. But the beach. Ew! You can't swim and the water is pretty gross. I know that is not anyone's fault but if you are looking for a beach in the area, don't waste your time coming here! It is $7 so if you want to sight see, go for it. Just don't count on wanting to spend much time at the beach. read more

This place has so many things you can do. There are picnic areas, playgrounds, a splash pad, and places you can walk. All of this is located right on Seneca Lake. It's a beautiful area and perfect for bringing the kids. You do have to pay to get in though. read more

This was a great place for a bunch of girls to have a chill lake day while on a bachelorette weekend. The water and beach well maintained. The sand was a bit rocky to walk barefoot on. All in all- great experience. read more

The playground is awesome! I'm not really into joining in on the playing but I couldn't resist when I saw what they had. The playground is definitely for school aged children and not for the really young ones. It's a more challenging one so it should keep the kids entertained! I know I was! read more
