I rented an enclosed pavilion for her graduation party in October of last year. The party was planned for Sunday, June 28th. We called Ontario County Park the week before the party several times and left several messages to see if we could decorate Saturday night and then her party was Sunday. No one returned our calls. My 17 year old daughter started decorating Sunday morning at 8:30 am. At 10 am a group of woman from Buffalo showed up at our pavilion and said they also rented the pavilion for Sunday. Our only communication with this establishment was their scheduling calendar. My daughter checked this calendar daily worried that her perfect day may be ruined. Up until Friday morning before the party, the calendar said we were renting the correct pavilion on Sunday. After the woman told my daughter that we were double booked, my daughter checked the calendar and it now said we were renting the pavilion Saturday and these woman were renting it Sunday. Someone messed up and moved us on the calendar at some point Friday or Saturday. The grounds guy and his "boss" told us that we needed to leave or they were going to call the police and have us arrested for trespassing. They told my 17 year old her mom was going to be arrested. My daughter asked the staff why no one had returned our calls all week and the "boss" told my 17 year old daughter " she should have walked her happy little a$$ around the park to find him". This is unacceptable! The police showed up and we were packed up and leaving. Now we then had 2 hours to rent tables and chairs and contact people that the party was moved. We were only able to reach about 50 people out of 100 who were invited. I am a Naples tax payer and I think if they messed up and double booked us I should have had dibs over the park in Naples instead of a group of woman from Buffalo! I spoke to a gentleman who overseas the staff and he apologized and was going to call me back. He has not called me back in almost 2 weeks. My daughter and I have not been refunded our $175 we spent on the pavilion and cabin for the weekend. Do not plan your special events at this park. It is heartbreaking to see your child's day ruined when there were plenty of things they could have done differently!

We visited this small beach/park many times during a recent visit to Canandaigua. It was well…read moremaintained; I saw town employees performing landscaping and lifeguards raking the sand on the beach. There is a rule that all trash must be carried out; there are no trash cans on the premises. While it was mostly clean, I would recommend installing some trash cans because there was some garbage left behind by families who were using the park grills. There were several people smoking cigarettes in the grassy area and on the beach, which is against the rules but the lifeguards didn't say anything to them. We visited at various times of the day during our stay and we saw some fantastic sunrises and sunsets. There were families walking along the beach and an artist painting the sunset one evening. It seemed to be a pretty safe area and never too busy, even during mid-day.

It's a beautiful lake and greatly taken care of including both the beach and rest rooms!…read more Unfortunately the rules are a bit over bearing for families to have fun. If you have older children the life guards are stricter.... No dogs No floating device ( which I understand for safety reasons) No splashing or engaging in activities the life guards deem rough - this is not consistant between life guards However, if you have young children that want to throw rocks this behavior the the lifeguards deem appropriate. Other behaviors that were not addressed that that I assume are OK include: Smoking around young children ( both cigarettes and Marijuana) and insanely loud and frequent use of profanity. However, I was able to watch numerous young children throw rocks at eachother with no reprimand.

I loved my site with trees secluding me from my adjacent neighbors. I biked all around the site and lake. The lake looked awesome for swimming, fishing and boating access. I saw several playgrounds for young kids. Each of three campgrounds had their own wash house. The one, near my campsite, was really nice! The campground was well maintained and clean. They allow pets but please note most sites don't have RV hookups. Price after fees was $36.25/night.

Nice park near Rt. 96 in Farmington, NY, notorious for BlueBells…read more The park has playgrounds, sports courts, a lodge, trails, and Bluebell Island. Located near Mud Creek. Thousands of wild flowers bloom every spring. The flower is associated with kindness and everlasting love, among other symbols. I saw some bird watchers around with their binoculars, enjoying the different species of birds. Children were playing in the playgrounds; young people were playing pickleball, basketball, and tennis on a fine spring afternoon in the good weather, something rare in Western NY State.

We found Lagoon Park on Yelp and it was a quick and easy drive, so we went to check it out. (Turns out guest parking spots are across the street from the park entrance on Lakeshore Dr, if anyone else is wondering!) Lagoon Park has a really simple and easy to walk trail - it was all flat and mostly graveled. It only took us about 20-25 minutes to circle around (with a 6 year old to boot), so we ended up circling it twice to get a longer walk in! Along the way we stopped to check out two bridges, investigated a couple of smaller dirt trails, admired the MASS amount of lily pads, waved hello to a few of the nice people in the small section of neighborhood we passed by, and the trail leads you right past Wegmans, so we took a break for some sugar cookies, too! I also noticed there were quite a few great fishing spots, if you're looking for those. And a few maps of the trail, which was a nice addition, even though I can't imagine it's easy to get lost here. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice easy trail walk, or some hidden fishing nooks!

Great trail! There are SO many places to start, and so many places to veer off. They have signs…read morethroughout telling you which branch of the trail to take if you want to go to Main St, or Budd Park, etc. We noticed quite a few benches and tables on our way through, a swing, and at least 4 exercise stops. It looked manicured and well taken care of. We walked the trail to Budd Park and then swung around and took town streets back to the car for fun!

I thought that I should find someplace special for my 600th Yelp review, and after a couple of…read moreweeks of thinking about that milestone review I couldn't think of anyplace I've visited recently. Suddenly, a perfect place appeared! I was on my way north from Naples, New York when my GPS advised me to bear left on to County Highway 12. To say County 12 was a hill climb is an understatement. The view to my right just kept getting better and better, looking out over Canadaigua Lake at the high ridge on the east side of the well-known Finger Lake. I kept wishing I had been there a couple of weeks earlier when the ridge covered with deciduous trees was probably on fire with fall colors. Just the same, even the brown leaves were breathtaking. POOF! A warning sign advised me of a scenic overlook ahead! Of course, I pulled in, just taking in the breathtaking views as I looked for a good parking spot. (Like it mattered. There are plenty of spaces and all have pretty much the same view.) I grabbed my camera and slowly walked across the parking lot, just taking in the beauty of nature spread out before me. In the center of the overlook is a pair of commercial binoculars. When I was a kid, I remember seeing such devices on the tops of high places, like Granddad's Bluff or the top of the Empire State Building. Those were usually a quarter for a pretty short look. Not here, these remarkable optical devices are free - and they are really high resolution. I looked into one and saw a guy in a fishing boat, pulling away from the dock. I looked over the top of the unit and all I saw was Canadaigua Lake. What boat? Looking back in the viewer - oh, THAT boat! Oops, he's gone out of the view now. Did I mention there are two viewers? One is mounted a bit lower for the little people in your group. I sat on ledge and inhaled the view. I also got to do some people watching, as other people were equally overwhelmed with what they were seeing. Lots of selfies being taken (me, too, I admit it) along with another photographer trying to get the best panorama shot. This is truly someplace special. I hope I can come back sometime and see it when the hills are green.
