We felt absolutely fleeced by this business! Called and got an estimate that started out as a reasonable price... then, it became everything was changed to added on costs! We hired someone to come in and pack our loved one's belongings, only to find out after we opened the boxes months later that they literally put one or two small items and a TON of craft paper wraps in the boxes... because they charge by the box, we OVERPAID terribly! I would NOT RECOMMEND this business to anyone! read more

WARNING: Make sure you get everything in writing‼SPELL OUT WHAT you understand about services being rendered. Write out clear simple instructions. Allow time to plan with company. How many employees will work with your move.and if the people aren't provided have the contract changed. Request that the employees are working each day are the same . Have a couple of friends and or family watching !! My suggestion is to READ "Organizing Solutions for People with ADHD, 3rd Edition" by Susan Pinsky. It is great. (Even if you aren't ADHD !) At the time of my move I was totally stressed out. My husband was flat on his back and was not able to do anything. I had had College Hunks for a pre-pack that was about Liz the owner sold me on using her moving service. She and her husband assured me that the electronics -TV computer and related electronics would be all set up. I asked if the connections could be color coded. She said definitely. 3 months later they aren't ! I paid for an unpack. Things I needed unpacked I'm getting unpacked. Workers literally dumped every tool into one kitchen drawer. Boxes were unpacked that had DO NOT UNPACK! Books were suppose to be put downstairs Our pottery collection was suppose to be put on shelves in the garage. The pottery was unpacked and put on bookshelves. Books are in the garage. Today I finally unpacked a microwave bowl that I've needed. This is a third of what went south. I found the Christmas lights but ornaments. It's very frustrating. A 4th day was added with two unpackers and 2 movers This was a worthless day. read more

I couldn't be happier. We moved from a home into a condo and had a lot of "stuff." They worked hard and carefully. Even at the end of the second day the crew was upbeat and had pep in their step. They did whatever we asked and even asked if there was anything more they could do for us. Brenda unpacked the kitchen boxes and put everything away for me. That was wonderful! 7/10/2018 Bruce & Ann Haight A-201 Covenant Village of the Great Lakes Evaluation of the services of Seniors Moving Smarter At the end of January, we decided to move to Covenant Village of the Great Lakes in Grand Rapids from our home of 43 years in Kalamazoo. We were given names of two firms, met representatives of both, and liked both. We chose Carl Reid and Seniors Moving Smarter because we felt that their approach of subcontracting was more suited to our situation. The first major contribution Seniors Moving Smarter made was a new way of scheduling our transition. Carl, who is also a real estate agent, suggested first moving to Covenant Village, then doing an estate sale and finally selling the house because we had "so much good stuff." Carl was right! Seniors Moving Smarter took everything we needed for our new apartment from Kalamazoo to Covenant Village in mid-March. Over the course of four days what was to be moved was photographed, moved, unpacked, and set into new spots by their teams. We were astounded at how insightful they were about placing everything not necessarily the exact way we had things placed before BUT BETTER! The next day Carl came, looked at our paintings, prints, stained glass, etc. and hung them all for us. Two months later Carl came again to finish the art hanging with additional paintings and prints we had gathered in the meantime. This was one of the VERY BEST services that they provided. We like the way things are now better than the way they were in our old house! Everyone from Seniors Moving Smarter who helped was knowledgeable, hard-working, friendly and caring! Carl also was VERY GOOD at coordinating with our realtor and estate sale firm. All of Seniors Moving Smarter' s work was done at the price initially quoted. Carl urged us to hire a top local estate sale firm to take over organizing and selling our things. It was a huge undertaking. Three months after our move our Estate Sale happened and was very successful. Our now empty house was on the market for one month and currently we have a sale pending. What seemed like an impossible task in January, to deal with our stuff, sell our house and move, is almost done by July 10th! It was Carl's creative thinking that enabled us to pull this off. He was right when we first met back in January: If my wife and I had tried to get all our stuff dealt with first before selling the house and then moving, all would not have been done for a very, very long time! Our holdings were so many and our desires for distribution of our precious possessions so complex that we needed the five months it has taken to get all of our things moved, donated or sold in our estate sale. We have now been in our new apartment for four months. Covenant Village became our refuge and new home while we commuted to finish affairs in Kalamazoo. This has made it easier to leave our much-loved home of 43 years. The staff of Covenant Village also helped much by being flexible with us. We are now among the many happy residents of Covenant Village. Liz is great to work with: guiding you through the process to help a parent get from home to the next stage of living. Don't overlook the value of a dispassionate third party helping to choose what to take from a large home to the new smaller residence (and standing as a buffer between children and parent...) The movers were sensitive to finding things squirreled away in furniture, handling the precious few things being moved, and even had a specialist in Grandfather clocks!
