People who stay at hotels and then EAT at hotels while they travel baffle me. I mean, isn't the point of traveling exploring a different city and culture? Fancy hotels just don't seem like a good source for local cuisine to me. That isn't to say that hotel restaurants are bad--it's just that, when traveling, eating out is just way more fun. Something tells me then that hotel restaurants are more for the locals than the tourists. Senju is one such restaurant associated with quality but likely not frequented by people who stay at the hotel. Their food falls somewhere between traditional and fusion, perhaps better labeled as modern. I've seen similar versions of their more interesting dishes (ones involving miso in unexpected places) in Japan, and it wouldn't be out of place in Tokyo if not Manila. I guess it's probably for Japanese tourists, who seem to eat Japanese even when on vacation. read more
