Today we decided to try jalapeños restaurant. We were a party of 5. I ordered a Combination plate with choice of enchilada and taco served with rice and beans. For my drink I ordered an agua de Jamaica. Ambience: 5 stars. It's a pretty nice place with lots of decoration which makes it a very good setting. Service: 5 stars. The staff was amazing very kind and welcoming. Food: 3 stars. My enchilada had carne desebrada the meat itself was really good. The sauce that the enchilada comes in was not too much of my liking. Rice and beans were cold. As well as my taco de pastor. Overall the experience was not great. When we came in the restaurant was extremely packed. Which is a good thing business is good that must mean the food's good. They took our order in a decent time which was great. Two tables came after us and were served their food before us. Our wait time for food was over 40mins which was very insane. Luckily they serve chips and salsa which we had 2 rounds of because the wait was so long and we basically got full of that before we could even receive our food. I've worked at a restaurant before so I understand sometimes it gets extremely busy and staff can get a bit overwhelmed but I don't think that's an excuse for us to get our food so late especially seeing two tables that came after us get served first. Anyway, the taco meat (pastor) had a burnt flavor to it and was dry. They also mest up my friends order and had to be fixed twice. I ordered my food with no onion and onion was on there. I don't consider myself a picky eater but one thing I absolutely cannot do is onion. The birria taco was really good the meat at least. The tortilla was a bit burnt so that threw the flavor off as well. They mest up some of our orders with another table. No biggie it can get fixed. The overall experience was a bit disappointing after hearing good things about this place. I do have to give it to the staff though props to you guys. The table they mest up our food with was a white lady who turned Karen mode and was being very loud when she saw that her food was mest up yet at the end still agreed to eat it. That was very rude of her. I felt so bad for the lady helping them out but she handled that very well so cudos to her. There is room for improvement such as wait times and handing out orders accordingly. I wish I can say I'd give you guys another try because I'm sure it was just a bad experience on our end however I am only in ohio for a week and live all the way on the other side of the U.S. I hope you guys can take this review as room for improvement and not me trying to be mean so that you can continue to give great service and improve future customers experience. read more

December 30, 2022 Party of 5 Atmosphere - 3 stars: Your typical chain style Mexican restaurant. There were many uncleaned tables in this large establishment and very few customers when we entered. Menus were also very sticky, and we had to send a glass of wine back because the glass was dirty. You could see the lip print from someone else on it.   Service - 3 stars: When we first entered, the host was on the phone and never acknowledged that our party entered. We stood up front before the bartender finally came over to greet and seat us. Our service was pleasant, and knew the menu very well. She was slow to take our orders as we sat for 15 minutes before asking for drinks and then another 15 before we got our drinks. There was only one other table seated in the restaurant at the time. Food - 4 stars: Food was good and large portions, but timing was off. Half the table got their food, and 15 minutes passed before the rest of the table got theirs. I had the steak fajitas with rice. Don't judge a book by its cover. The atmosphere is lacking but the food is good, prices are fair and service is great.

Drinks are inconsistent, every server has their own recipe for a margarita and they Don t have orange slices either, food is good.

This is actually a 3 1/2 star review on the appetizer and 4 stars on the rest of the meal. However the staff deserves a 4 star review, they are all very nice. We were staying at the Baymont that's connected to the restaurant (don't bother with the hotel, you can read that review separately). But we wanted Mexican and read good reviews on this place. Chips and salsa were brought out promptly and those are good. We ordered chili con queso, which had no chili in it and very thin cheese sauce. The chips were good though. I ordered a shredded beef and cheese quesadilla and it was full of tasty beef. I also got a mango margarita and it was big and delicious. Hubby ordered the seafood fajitas and they came with lots of meat, shrimp, crab and scallops, along with the usual fixings. Meh. I've experienced better. I'm not sure how the other reviewers could possibly state "Best Mexican restaurant ever". Must be paid reviews. Seriously, the place was basically empty at lunch. My waitress pretended to understand my order, she just didn't. I asked for "all beans, no rice" and I got neither. It tried three times to communicate my desire for beans, without effect and then gave up. The chips were bland, even salt couldn't rescue them. The salsa was watery, and tasted like the least of every other Mexican restaurant salsa I've had. C'mon, it's tomatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro. It's easy to be good. Senor Jalapeno is not good. I ordered the lunch Chimichanga with all beans, no rice, and as I mentioned I got neither. The menu stated "steak tips" and when reality set in I realized I was eating under-fried, non-seasoned shredded beef. Certainly not "Steak Tips". I will not be back, ever. The food here is phenomenal!! The ambience is perfect for a typical Mexican restaurant. The service was okay. Our waiter was kind and receptive to our request. However, it took over 45 minutes to get our bill after we were finished eating. He never even came back to speak to us. We ordered dessert, and he must've forgotten about it. It was over an hour from the time that we ordered it to the time that we had to ask somebody if we could have it. I was with a group of friends who I had not seen in quite some time, so we did not mind the wait because we were together. However, had this been a typical night with people that I see often, like my family, this wait would have been very inconvenient and caused me to find a different waiter to get me my check so I could leave. I was simply Mezmorized and the Food was Simply Out Of This World. Some months later, I was traveling on Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township and I decided to stop at The Former Cancun Mexican Resturante and when I went inside, José Greeted me at the Front Door. I was truly Mezmorized to learn that Señior Jalapeños Opened its Second Resturante here. I Love José and Pablo and the Entire Staff & Crew. We stumbled upon it because of that and we are SO happy we did!!! Señor Jalapeño is fairly new, but you would never know that with the experience! I live close to Senor Jalapeno and I go there quite frequently. The service here is always high quality. I'm always served the chips and salsa almost immediately. Not to mention, the food is always serves to quickly. My favorite two meals are the el burro grande and the lunch fajitas. Both meals are great and I love them! Uh I'm sorry but I will start with the positive. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. The food is literally less authentic Mexican then Taco Bell. I think they use the lowest quality ingredients they can possibly find. I would not feed the "beef" they put on my beef tacos to my dog. Sorry just being honest. This is pre made food in vast quantities with no attention to taste or quality. Absolutely awful. The margarita I ordered, I asked for a classic margarita, it was served in a 14 ounce goblet, nothing fresh, the pre-made mix tasted stale. It was so far from a actual fresh authentic margarita I can't even begin to describe it. Don't go here. Really. BTW I live 4 blocks from this place, I am a amateur chef, I travel for business, I have been to Mexico, including Mexico City dozens of time and an actual Mexico national would not even recognize this food.
