Not sure what the deal is but pretty much every restaurant I drove by around the Hollywood Casino was dead except this one. I travel a LOT and eat out constantly and when you try a restaurant that has ZERO business at 7pm experience tells me it is going to be pile of disappointment. This appears to be the only non-fast food place that had more than a couple cars out front. In fact, they probably had 25-30 cars. Food was surprisingly good and the service was good in spite of the kitchen being slow on my food. Pet peeve in that they only have Diet Coke no Coke Zero. read more

I typically don't write reviews but i was in today and i couldn't help but notice how one of the servers were acting very out of line to a young worker who seemed to be a hostess/busboy food was great but the interaction between the two caught everyone in the restaurants eyes the young man was sitting at the bar in the front looking like he was rolling some type of paper and the server came up to him and just grabbed it right out of his hands and just threw it into the stands then proceeded to scream at him with a resturant full of people the young man looked very uncomfortable after the fact hopefully this isn't a regular thing. before this happened he asked the young man to bring chips and salsa to a table and the young man did what was asked of him and the server came back and screamed at him to bring chips and salsa without even checking if he had already done it. read more

Started out a little shaky, went up to the door 11:16 and it was locked (opened up at 11), with two employees standing around.Service was mediocre at best just super slow. The enchiladas were absolutely amazing just wished the had a little more flavor. The queso was out of this world however the chips that were served with it tasted like three day old stale chips that had been left out. All in all not a terrible joint to eat, just have to work on better customer service, and bolder flavors. Stopped here for dinner while on a road trip. They should charge more so don't be surprised by the low prices. Incredible value, delicious food. What a great place! Walking distance to all the truck stops and hotels, and right across the street from a race track- type casino, Calaveras doesn't disappoint! Obviously I got the street tacos, and wow! They brought me 3 piping hot street tacos stuffed with steak- thats it. The onions, cilantro is on the side, with tomatoes, an added bonus. Also came with rice and beans, which was a first for me. All the street tacos ove gotten over the years, this was the first place that brought me sides! Margaritas are how I like them, strong. The staff interacts w the locals as if they were fond family members, something surprisingly heartwarming for this deep in a red state. A great place. I hope to come back! read more

We've eaten here many times, and I cannot rave enough. Juan takes his time in making sure everything tastes the same every time you come in. Consistency is one of my favorite parts. I cannot say enough how delicious the cabbage coleslaw is the best in the area. I rarely get the steak at Mexican restaurants, but the way they cook theirs, I've genuinely never had anything like it before. I make my steak tacos. It's by far my favorite dish. This leans more towards authentic Mexican as it's the closest I've had to the food when I was in Mexico. We first hit this spot during the covid shut down as they had terrific family meal selections for $25. Three years alter and the deals are still in place. Call ahead ordering with drive-thru pick up makes it a fast and efficient experience. Customer service is always pleasant and courteous but sometimes there could be longer wait times that some may complain about. Not this guy. The deals are worth the wait times. 12-tacos, (6-chicken, 6-steak) still warm homemade tortilla chips, large queso and large salsa for $30. Would have been $25 however there is a $5 up-charge for steak. This fed the 5-of us (daughter will only eat the chips and queso). The tacos themselves are pretty damn good. Meats are seasoned just right. The only downfall is that they tend to get a tad soggy on the ride home but nothing that is worthy of a complaint. I'd say overall deserves four stars but they earn the 5th simply for the value. We will continue to order there and take advantage of this great deal. read more

SALT BOMB!! We ordered takeout based on reviews as we were traveling through. We were given a wrong entree and all the food was too salty to eat. When my husband went to pick up our order he sat at the bar and ordered a drink. The bar was in shambles on a Wednesday and they needed to wash a glass for him. Very disappointed. read more

The food was average and the service just okay. Ate there at 7pm on a Thursday night, and Not very crowded. I had three different people serve and wait on me, so I'm not sure any of them actually had or took responsibility. Meal was served fairly quick, but it took forever to get the check. Went to the register to pay and the girl standing there just looked at me and walked away to clean the table I was at. I guess she didn't have authority to take payments, but said nothing and notified nobody. Finally a guy took the payment. The chips were below average and had a burnt taste and almost no salt. There wasn't a salt shaker on the table either. The salsa was pretty bland, and more soupy than chunky. Others must have thought so too, because the Chahula hot sauce bottle on the table was nearly empty, except for a few drops left in the bottom. I got the fajita. It had plenty of steak, lots of onions and only a couple small strips of bell pepper. I like bell pepper, so that was very disappointing. The refried beans were good and plentiful. The Mexican restaurant about a mile to the road North is a much better choice in the times I've eaten there. read more

Tasteless. Salsa tasted like ketchup, chips were cold and unsalted. Guacamole was brown. The burritos were microwaved hard and chewy on the edges. Beans tasted like a can. Chicken in taco salad was cold. Queso wasn't fully melted there were chunks of cheese in it. Would not recommend. read more

This restaurant has a bar and ample dining area. The menu is pretty large, but the food is inconsistent. I would say 50% of the time it is decent, but the chicken is often tough and the dishes lack any interesting spice besides salt. The service is also inconsistent, often provided by moody teenagers. I really wanted to give this place a good score because of the fast and friendly service. The chips came out with salsa (just ok) as well as what I think was a coleslaw with a kick (yum). I arrived on a Sunday night and couldn't get a margarita (?). I ordered chili Colorado which was described as sliced steak marinated in a spicy special sauce served over rice with a side guacamole salad. What I got was a standard plate with rice, retried beans, and the chili on the side. The sauce was a mole-like sauce that was unappetizingly sweet. It was a confused dish with flour tortillas on the side as well as the salad, so I was confused about how to eat it. To their credit, my waiter cut my bill in half. Throw in the loud partying in the back and TV and phone watching going on out front and I'm not impressed. read more

This is a great Mexican restaurant. The price of food and drinks are excellent. You can taste the fresh ingredients and portions of each ingredient are even throughout.
