Additionally, on the first month check in (at 3 weeks) the doctor told me I had not done a good job and needed to do more because I 'only' lost 2 lbs a week. I worked really hard to do that and was so discouraged and defeated by this. I tried not to let it affect me, but it derailed me because I felt like nothing I was doing was good enough and he was going to be nasty to me again. Not supportive or encouraging- more interested in hearing himself talk than listening to me. Sage advice like wear a Fitbit- which I already do. It is obvious that the main goal of this place is to push the hormone therapy. If you aren't interested in that- don't go here. Front office staff are lovely. I have worked with diet doctors before, and they were wonderful. There is no reason to put up with this - go elsewhere. I won't support this business with my money.

In the two building complex you'll find just about any (if not all) of Sentara's Medical practices. Most Sentara specialists practice at more than one, but not all, locations. So you may not find your favorite doctor at this medical complex. The location isn't convenient for me. But it's the only place my Sentara Foot Surgeon practices. My Sentara Cardiologist also practices at both this Medical Center & one on the Sentara Norfolk General Campus. I normally see him at the closer Norfolk location. But if I can get a quicker appointment, I have gone to his office in Chesapeake. The office personnel at all the practices I've seen at the Careplex have been friendly & pleasant. The availability of care from most types of specialists is quite convenient for those who live in Chesapeake and SW Virginia Beach. A Sentara Physical Therapy Center is located in the Careplex. There are also non Sentara practices in the center, including both Pediatrics & Family Practice. Both buildings are meticulously maintained & have large parking lots. Handicapped parking spaces are located near the entrance to each building. Shopping & eateries are in close proximity.

They had a young man performing Covid screenings at the entrance and I was immediately checked in and taken back not 5 minutes later. I was out the door before my appointment time. I've never been registered and scanned in less than 20 minutes for anything, ever! I was completely impressed. I have been here previously for walk-in (ie. first come, first served) lab work and there was a bit of a wait at lunch time, which I expected. The registrar who took my info and got me checked in was polite, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this Sentara location for diagnostics!

The only rude person I came across was at check in downstairs there was a younger woman who was tall and thin who was extremely rude to us but literally everyone else we talked to were BEYOND kind! They accused her of being too much for their practice to handle as she had either emailed, called or was seen as a patient more times than they felt were necessary. " Seems they do not see patients with "chronic issues" and basically pushed my friend under the bus. This practice needs to be aware that they took an oath to do no harm to patients and that abandonment of a patient without allowing that patient to be secured with another practitioner is looked very down upon. Please know that this will be reported to the medical review board and you will have this on your profile as long as you treat patients. I will never see anyone at this office and anyone should be wary of this practice if they are deciding wether to see someone there or are already a patient. Apparently, if you require your doctor or such, they do not like to put in the time and will just kick you out.
