These people are absolute scumbags, who don't know how to run a business. I used them, against my better judgment, because they serviced a house that I had purchased. From the beginning, they were awful, then, they had an issue with a credit card on file and did not reach out to me for at least a year, finally getting in touch with me telling me I owed them over $1000. This was shocking, I went ahead and paid it and told them to piss off. Fast-forward several months and they continue to send me bills, despite the fact that they do nothing, and now some moron, their name, Francesca, who clearly doesn't understand how collections work, has threatened to "begin collection procedures" because I no longer am a client with them. In addition to her being an absolute idiot, she doesn't understand contract law either. Do yourself a favor and go with a reputable company not these clowns ! read more

I used Sentry for the past 7 years. The service was very expensive to setup, but was reliable for many years. Over the last few years, the service has dropped off along with the equipment. Alarms go off and it takes sometimes up to 5 mins to receive a call. We also started getting false alarms with several of the window sensors. We asked for a service call, first time in 6 years, and they wanted to charge us just to have someone come out. On top of that, they tried to sell us a new device saying our original version would stop working soon. They asked for $300 and a three year service contract and when I said no they just suggested I replace the batteries on the sensors. That worked for about 6 months and then again started having issues every week with false alarms. I finally decided it wasn't worth the $125/quarter service charge and called to cancel the service. I was asked to send in WRITTEN LETTER to cancel. I objected and was then told to send an email and it could take up to 30 days to cancel. When I objected again the manager became aggressive and hung up. They would not confirm that I prepaid or how much would be credited back. Avoid as there are much better options, at lower costs, with better customer service. Just look at the rest of the reviews on yelp and you will see a pattern. read more

Great Service Great state-of-the-art- system I have had ADT and keyth and both can't compare to the service I receive from Sentry there installers are professional and when they leave you don't even know they were there. "Bravo!" and "Thanks you!" to Sentry Security's President and CEO David Balestrery. We had an issue with are alarm system and he personally handled the situation. Mr. Balestrery returned my phone calls promptly and listened to the issues I was concerned about. Mr. Balestrery personally handled the problems and genuinely offered his apology. He thoughtfully asked when it was best time for ME to have the alarm system repaired. Mr. Balestrery told me he would rectify the problem and he did!. It was refreshing to speak to the man in charge and have him keep his word. Sadly, that doesn't happen very often, any more. We were delighted when the serviceman, Dante, arrived. Dante had preciously fixed our security system and we felt comfortable having him in our home. My husband and I appreciated the excellent customer service and consideration for my customer's point of view. I would highly recommend Sentry Security because Mr. Balestrery's personal attention and rapid response to fix the problems! read more

This summer I lost my security system provider due to health problems. He sold his business to Sentry Security. I called Sentry Security and talked to Marla and signed a contract on 15 Aug. On 20 Aug. I e mailed Marla explaining to her that I wanted her to be my contact. She replied "Great". I have sent her several e-mails since. She has not replied to my concerns. I understand that she has left the company after a short time. My first concern was the amount of time the tech took to check out our existing system. Sentry provides 90 min. The check took 90 minutes plus an additional $166 of added fees to complete the testing. I voiced my concern to Marla, no reply. My second concern was a service call to replace a low temp sensor included as Gina Explained "A roll the truck out of the garage" fee of $50. I objected to this and Laura waived the fee. Last Thursday I called Sentry with another problem either caused by their setup or AT&T and again voiced my concerns about the $50 fee added to the service fee. Kari called me back and told me they would not waive the fee. I then asked to break the contract and was charged the 90 min setup fee of $150 minus the 3 month Nov.-Jan 2020 monitoring fee. I knew I was going to get nickeled and dimed the life of the contract so I ran away as fast as I could. I have since read reviews on Sentry Sentry and Kari is mentioned by name in several one star reviews. Not a good recommendation. Kudos to Sentry for making things right. I escalated the issue that we were faced with because I took issue with paying for something that wasn't our fault. Their President took the time to call me (multiple times - I'm a hard person to get ahold of sometimes!), explain what had transpired internally and make the situation right (read: refund us). He noted that they were in fact at fault, apologized and reiterated that they don't typically have situations like this occur and that they wanted to retain us as clients for a long time. It says a lot about a company when they take responsibility and make the effort to make things right. read more

Do not sign with this company. The only way they stay in business is by locking you into a 5 year contract. Two years was the most any company has offered. I was told I had to upgrade my cellular box for $450 or $350 if I extended my contract. This is not my problem. If they cannot provide the service that I orginally signed up for, then my contract should be void. Tried to contact the company via email and phone, being ignored. Dianna is not very helpful or friendly. I am having a family member who is a lawyer looking into this contract. read more

Recently I had a need to switch security companies for my home - the previous one was slow to respond to an actual emergency, so I switched to Sentry Security which has been a great experience. The sales people were very friendly, very thorough and made sure they addressed all my needs and concerns. The installer was on time, very professional and did a great job of installing my system with out making it stand out in my home. The sales person even came to my house and gave me training on the system, he was very thorough. This is a terrible company! Buyer beware. They will have you sign a multi-year agreement and since they are incompetent you are stuck after you figure it out. They don't even monitor the house. My alarm went off 2x and on both occasions I did not get a phone call. Once I told them of this and demanded an activity report and service call- no one responded. This company seems to be a bit shady once you sign up with them. After 2 years of having no issues, they decide that they need to upgrade from 2G to 4G cellular service ... and this is a $450 expense (they are willing to knock off $100) that I have to pay for. Not sure why I have to pay this fee, when my next door neighbor has the same service with them ... and they have been with Sentry for even longer than I have, and she doesn't need to do this. When I called to speak to someone to explain why this should be my cost to eat, Diana was extremely rude and basically said that it is the customer's responsibility to pay because there are towers going down so it's not their fault. Without paying for this upgrade, the company is unable to monitor the security of my home. When I asked about cancelling the service, they said that I still have a year on my contract and still have to pay them for monitoring ... even though they basically just told me that they can't monitor my building. How am I responsible to pay for the rest of my contact when they can't deliver on what I signed up for?? Do not use this company ... extremely poor customer service and lack of professionalism is evident. read more

Sentry Security needs to work on improving their service call preparations. I received a call 5-min prior to my scheduled appointment telling me that the call will be canceled because the equipment was not working. The tech was testing the equipment this morning after having it at least 1-1/2 weeks after a prior failed service call at the house. Someone is not scheduling the required work to make sure it is all ready for the appointment time. Excuses are given for poor performance and just finding out the problem. The problem could have been found over a week ago in time to correct the issue rather than 5-min prior to the appointment. I rate this service call a zero stars. I will need a third service call to hopefully finish the job. The company appears to over load the techs so as to prevent time to properly plan/ prep/ correct any issues prior to the actual service call. Management is not doing their job. I would not recommend Sentry at this time for major upgrade work. read more

I am an assistant property manager with a property management company that owns over 180 buildings in the Chicago land area. I started at this company two weeks ago and my first task was to catch up on four fire alarm inspections. The scheduler at Sentry Security set up inspections over three days with the first on 7/17 at 8 am in Hillside and the second later that day in Lisle. The technician who performed the inspection was Jason M. and he provided me with outstanding service. As a new employee, my main responsibility is to learn all and everything I can about our buildings. Because of this, I came into the inspection with many questions and he was happy to explain the different parts of the fire alarm system in the building. The Hillside system was in excellent working order, so he decided to perform the next inspection ahead of schedule. After this second inspection, I asked if we could complete the remaining two inspections that day. He promptly received approval from his manager and helped me knock out all four of my inspections. We covered over 150 miles on 7/17 and Jason was a pleasure to work with throughout. The ability of Sentry Security to conform to my needs allowed my company to meet each city's yearly inspection deadline and freed up more time for me to deal with other tenant issues. I am thankful for the flexibility both he and his scheduler displayed and would recommend this company for all your security needs. read more
