Several years ago, I experienced poor service at this location. I ended up switching to the Frankfort store and received better service. I recently decided to visit the South Lexington location again. I was blown away with the COVID-19 precautions, friendliness and helpfulness of the employees, as well as the expertise of the employees. Found out the return policy if there is over 50% of the product--rewards members have receipts on file so no receipt is necessary. I've been pleasantly pleased with this location's turnaround in terms of customer services. Keep up the good work! read more

I have chosen the convenience of this store too many times. The customer service is the worst, it is usually a mess and is poorly stocked. On the other hand the Hamburg location is friendly, well stocked and a pleasure to shop in. I grabbed the wrong product because it was in the wrong place. When I went in to exchange it, the correct product still had not been put out in the right place. However, online showed they had it in stock. After some confusion I finally had the right product in hand. I went to make the exchange, and even though the product I was exchanging cost less I still owed money bc my points had been used on the previous purchase. I get it more now, but at the time it made no sense to me. The manager talked to me like I was an idiot for not understanding their process. I own my own business now but prior to that was in sales and customer service. What I (and apparently others) have continued to experienced here is not how you maintain a healthy business or maintain return customers. read more

I go to college in Lexington and was heading home for Christmas break but needed a restock of my face wash before leaving Lexington since I do not have an Ulta in my hometown. I ordered online and did curbside since I also have my dog with me (like I said, on my way home) and was unable to go inside. I checked in THIRTY MINUTES prior to getting there, sit there for 10 before calling just for them to tell me "they're working on my order." My order of one singular face wash, keep in mind. Another person pulls up behind me and receives they're curbside order almost immediately, this was also after I called so they were more than aware that I am here. Still sitting here and it's been 20 minutes since I called. Will not be doing this EVER AGAIN. read more

I haven't been into an Ulta (Lex KY Nich. Rd. is my usual) in a while as I wear very little make up. However, I was recently returning a product I ordered online and told the cashier to go ahead and help those in line first while I went to look at perfume. I really needed help on which perfume to choose as I hadn't bought any for a long, long time. JC is the staff person who came to my rescue. He had a lot of perfume knowledge, and asked a number of great questions to assess what perfume might work best for me. Great service!! Things were misplaced, knocked over and just unorganized. Also, no one spoke to us the entire time we were shopping around. I could tell they were short-staffed. This has been my regular Ulta for a while. Last week I had to run in to grab something about 30 minutes before close. At around 20 or so minutes to close, I was up by the registers. The employee behind the register makes a comment to another employee about making an announcement over the intercom about the store closing at 9pm. He said, and I quote "Hey who's going to make the announcement, I want to see how passive aggressive we can make it." It's not just the fact he said this that prompted me to leave this review, but the fact he said it knowing I was standing right there totally in earshot. Just a little newsflash for the employee that made that comment, some people have jobs and other things going on where 8:35 on a Friday night is the only time they have to be able to commit to taking care of themselves. And, your store is still very much open for me to dash in, grab my face moisturizer, and dash out. I am not one to leave bad reviews related to employees in retail and customer service because I know it's a hard job. I have always liked this Ulta and have spent a lot of time and money at this location. But it's incredibly unfortunate that someone who is getting paid to be there feels the need to make me feel guilty for making a quick shopping trip so I can feel a little better about myself after a long week. read more

I really have no idea why everyone in this store ignores me. I was wanting something specific but since this is not the usual Ulta I go to, I had no idea where it was. Good thing I had the perseverance to find the items I wanted on my own. I find that most Ulta staff is not friendly and they seem to be annoyed. This location is my favorite of the two local Ulta locations. The only thing that I don't like about the location is that it's off of Nicholasville Road and extremely close to the mall, so you're pretty much going to hit the mall traffic if you go here. If you sign up for their free frequent customer program (I can't remember the name on it) they'll mail you coupons, at least once a month. Sometimes the coupons are $3.50 off of any purchase $10 or more and sometimes they send 20% off coupons. The employees at this location are always more helpful and friendlier than the ones other at the other location. Several times I forgotten my coupon and they always go ahead and give me the savings when I mention it. You can also ask for samples and they'll give them to you at check out. Ulta is similar to Sephora, but they sell more hair care products, straighteners, blow dryers, and more. They also have a salon. My daughter got her hair cut there once and she was happy with the results. I was a bit surprised that the price was so much for just a trim though. They also carry a lot of everyday, not so top end brands, like Covergirl, Revlon, etc. They also have the name brand cosmetics too... Clinque, Bare Minerals, Estee Lauder, and a lot more. Most of the higher end name brands aren't included in the coupon offers though, so check the fine print before you count on it. read more

So I know NOTHING about makeup and I decided I needed some new foundation that is better for my skin. I was wandering around for like 10 minutes and Olga asked if I needed help and asked what I needed specifically. She picked some EPIC make up and showed me how I can correct my make up to seem more youthful. She explained the basic ways to enhance my face without breaking the bank and without looking like a completely different person. She knew her stuff and made me excited about the products she recommend. This review is for the Ulta Salon. With my regular person at another salon on maternity leave and in need of a haircut, I took advantage of a first time customer haircut special of $30. Bearing in mind how giving your hair over to a new person with a pair of scissors in hand can be an anxious experience, I decided to go for it. Nicole gave me an excellent hair cut and I was quite pleased with the experience. I would consider returning (if need be), if it were not for the fact that her services are the highest price of the other stylists in the salon. I'd like to see salons make a differentiation with a 1-inch trim of dead ends as to a major haircut. This particular experience and results, however, were 5-star. read more

I had been going to the salon here for about 2 years before I moved from Lexington. I usually got my hair cut by Ben, who was always friendly and attentive to detail. If he wasn't available, Nicole also did a great job. Ben also listened to what I wanted, without attempting to put an unwanted "spin" on things. This is a big plus for people who get annoyed when stylists don't follow instructions. Another great thing about Ben was that he had an extensive knowledge of hair products, which is particularly helpful for me since my hair will not behave without them. I have never used the salon's coloring or chemical services, so I cannot speak for it in that respect, but the haircuts here are solid. If you want to see a particular stylist, you will likely have to make an appointment in advance. For Ben or Nicole, try to allow for a week in advance to get an available time. read more

Stylist didn't know what the curly girl method was. Used none curly girl products on my hair when I told her they didn't meet the requirements. Then used techniques that made my hair more frizzy than curly. I had to go home and redo my hair. Wouldn't suggest for curls. read more

Need your 2020 to be just a tad worse? This is the place for you! Least helpful, and not shockingly quite unfriendly, customer service in town. I don't remember them ever being overly pleasant, but today's experience set the bar at a new low. Individual personalities aside, here's a merchandising tip: Try NOT lecturing your customers on the virtues (or lack thereof) of the various companies whose product you stock. Instead, work on something you CAN control and don't be deceiving with your promotional signage. Simple, right? Not providing clarity forces the customer to make multiple trips to and from the register, until the point they are so frustrated that they purchase whatever they last grabbed (at full price, of course), because by this time the aforementioned unhelpful sales person is now glaring at them with disdain, and so are the other customers who see this person jumping in and out of line. Better yet? Volunteer an associate to accompany the customer back to the section that they are struggling with to help circumvent the issue entirely! Then again, that's not profitable, so Ulta corporate: just ignore this review and keep doing what you're doing. read more

Been coming here for years but my last visit topped the cake when it came to customer service. Looking at Ulta online for a new blow dryer, I came up with 117 results. So I decided to go in store to check it out. I believe it was a manager that helped me out but I'm not 100% sure. She explained the top of the line compared to the middle of the road Hot Tools brand to me and I left a happy camper. Definitely a great experience and as always I will be heading back:) read more

As the name implies, this place is all about Cosmetics and Beauty Supplies. They have the store arranged by Brands not by item type. This is kinda helpful when i go in with my big long lists of stuff to buy for people, but annoying when i don't know what specific brand I am looking to buy. The only thing I shop here for myself is the hair products in the mens section. It is a 4 foot section and easy to see it all. This location is by far the best in Lexington. It is located beside Best Buy/Toys R Us near Fayette mall, but worth fighting the traffic to get the better customer service. The workers here are nice and don't mind helping out the sad man holding a list of stuff to buy. I also suggest getting the Smooch Card aka their rewards card. The money and bonus points add up fast for more free stuff. They also email you $3.50 off and 20% off coupons alot. Even if you don't tell them at check out that you have a discount or some coupon, they ring it up for you. So nice. I wish these workers would take over the Hamburg location. read more

I entered the store and saw several employees standing around. I was not greeted by anyone. I moved on to get my merchandise (good thing I didn't need any help) and proceeded to stand in line at the cash register. If I could leave no stars I would. I came here as a birthday present to get my hair done. I have previously had ombré hair and I asked the lady to give me honey blonde highlights and to keep the bottom of my hair ombré. Well needless to say I spent 5 hours in this salon and stayed past when they were closed. The girl tried a new menthol which she was not comfortable enough with. She had to ask her coworkers for help. She bleached all of my hair except my roots and then when the bleach was done sitting she put the color corrector on. She got done rinsing out my hair and she knew that it was bad. She had to go get her coworker and ask how she could fix the damage she already done and then her coworker said to use more color corrector. Well then I went completely blonde except for my roots. This was not at all what I asked for. She then wanted me to pay for her mistakes of having to use two color correctors on my hair which was not happening. Not only that but my hair was not at all what I asked for and I spend 5 hours out of my day because she didn't know what she was doing. Never will I recommend this place. read more

I called the salon because I accidentally booked an appointment for a haircut on the wrong day when I called the salon the Kat said she would move my appointment to the appropriate date and time. When I went in for my appointment they said I did not have an appointment and that Pam wasn't even working that day. They "squeezed me in" with Hanna, she turned the chair to face the wall (away from the mirror) and kept leaving to go speak with other stylists. When she finally finished my trim she blew my hair dry and sent me on my way when I styled it the next day I realized that one side was a quarter of an inch shorter than the other side there are also random chunks cut out on the bottom. We went to purchase a few products there were signs showing 50 percent off second item. The cashier said it wasn't on sale,so we showed her the sign she said Ulta policy is that signs can be place over a product that it might not be on sale.I ask for the manager who was very rude the first thing she said was What's the problem? i explain but she did not care .She kept saying it was their policy and did not care about us. I went to get my makeup done there for prom yesterday. And they completely ruined my night, caused so much stress on me I cried the most I have in a long time. One girl that did my makeup messed everything up. The eye liner was half of my eye lip and it wasn't a straight line or even near that. The fake lashes stuck to my eyes and burned so bad. My foundation literally looked grey. She didn't even put the contour and highlight in the right place. I started crying because it looked so bad and she didn't know how to fix it, she asked for help and they all looked at me and I could see in their eyes it looked as bad as I thought. So an older lady tried to do my makeup. And she did a much better job, but it was for prom, she did it more like everyday makeup and it looked so natural. I had on my skin color eye liner. No highlight or any contour or highlight. So I literally had to buy black eye liner there and put it on in the car. By then, my appointment was at 1pm and it was near 5. I had to leave with my makeup not good or done and go get my hair done, then come back. I started crying again because I missed prom pictures and dinner with my friends. So I was heartbroken, and got even more upset. They gave me free of charge to get my makeup done (but I had to go home and RE DO all of my makeup I 10 minutes) and a 20% off my next purchase, they promised some free samples but I never received them at all. Never going back for makeup or probably anything sadly, my prom was completely ruined and I'm so upset. They helped the best they could, but I suggest they work on classes for their makeup "artists" Having the makeup remover they promised as a free sample would have been great but guess my problem didn't mean much to them, and the mascara booster they also promised wasn't given to me. read more

I am a big fan of this store for stocking studies for my daughter during the holiday season! Ulta has just about anything you would need for your cosmetic needs or hair needs! They have a salon in the back and they do hair and waxings. They have a few shelf's isn't the back that have random sale items on! They have a great selection on headbands and hair accessories and stylish hats and ear warmers. Tons of nail polish so you should def be able to find your color! They also have men's cologne and perfumes, and a pretty large selection! Lots of makeup choices! Really the place to hit for anything girly or to keep yourself together! read more

I have been going to ulta for years and i loved it and never and any issues.But unfortunately my most recent experience will be my last. A couple of weeks ago I went to the ulta in frankfort and bought some makeup after getting home and trying some of it i decided it didnt work for me and i needed to return it so before i went i called them and just called the number on the receipt. Which was the ulta in frankfort and explained to them i needed to return some items and i did have my recipt but the debit card i had paid with i did not have anymore and had cancelled it. The woman i spoke with said "oh thats fine we can just give u cash" . i also explained that i would be returning the items to the Lexington ulta in Hamburg and ask if the same rules would apply. She said "yes the rules are the same at every ulta, it wont be a problem." So i went to the ulta at hamburg pavilion and at the time i wasnt feeling well and ask my husband to return the items for me and so he went in and explained the same situation to the cashier and also explained that we had already called ahead of time and everything . Well of course it didnt go that smoothly and she said she could not give me cash that she HAD to put it back on the same card and that her system was telling her she could put it back on the debit card i had paid with. She even called a manager over and the manger said " oh yea its showing me i can FORCE it back on the card right now". Well at that point my husband ask if he could step outside and speak with me to ask me what to do. So then i just ended up going inside and again explaining to the manager that i had just recently cancelled the card however i did have another debit card she could put it on. She then informed me that she had just TOOK IT UPON HERSELF to FORCE it back on my canelled debit card ! Also that it would be fine. Needless to say i was furious i could not believe how incredibly rude she was and was talking to me like i was stupid . I then ask for the corporate phone number which she gave me. And i did call and tell them that night about my experience and i wanted to file a complaint. I was then told i would be contacted back about the issue. I then explained i was not going to get my money and she said that i could opt to have a check mailed to me that would take up to 14 business days to recieve! Well it is a week later, i have NOT been contacted back about my complaint and and in the middle of a dispute with my debit card company trying to get my money because ulta says the money was recieved when they sent it however the debit card company says they didn't get it. I am very disheartened by this situation i have never been treated like this by a company. All i want is my $102.00. That is my money! I would have accepted a gift card or exchanges but she didnt even give me the option. Im appalled that ulta is accepting of their customers being treated this way. I most Deffently wont ever be back and would deture anyone else from going. read more
