Not cool getting pushed into buying something, especially when they tell you they are no longer carrying it. An item was put into my hands. I kept walking around and watched the same associate, who put it in my hand, then call her manager over and tell him she sold all the product. As I went to the product I was there to see, was told 'thats a tiktok trend! not good!' Placed the forced product elsewhere and got out. Really weird interaction. read more

My only compliant is that at one point they had only 1 cashier worker and a line 10 people at least at least waiting and but there were other workers who were around officially. My experience at this Sephora location was below average. Upon entering the store, I saw several employees on the floor, but I was not greeted. The store was very untidy. Many of the products were out of stock or missing the tester. I found, lipstick, foundation, Lip liner and press powder all on my own. I did have questions, but no one offered me assistance. I found the colors that I needed by swatching them on my face, one by one. I ended up spending about $200 dollars on this makeup, so I hope it works out. If not, I gladly return the items. I highly regret shopping here. It would have been easier to go to Ulta where the sales associates are helpful and the store is clean! read more

Do not get a Sephora credit card the bank that they go through is horrible. They don't send their bills and tell you that they did. They will tell you that the bill was sent back to them and then they'll charge you $30 for an overdraft. read more

I am a 13 year old girl. I felt very targeted while I was in this store. My friend and I were asked several times if we were finding everything ok. Now, I understand that the workers were just doing their job. I highly felt that just because my age the workers suspected me of stealing! *gasp* I felt very discriminated against. Being a make up artist helps that there is a Sephora less then 20 minute from my home. This one in particular was a joy to go to because of the convenience and the fact that they had some products that the other Sephora's are always out of. I can appreciate the fact that it is here and that the workers know the talk of make up. I really do not like when I go in an establishment and the workers do not comprehend the wording I use. Oh, Sephora! How do I love thee? Let me count the glossy, sparkly ways... I *love* Sephora (obviously) and have yet to have a bad experience in the Orland Park location. I have always found the store to be well-stocked with both products and testers and a plethora of associates willing to help me out with a purchase--like why one might want a heated eyelash curler (it helps your lashes hold a curl for much longer than a regular eyelash curler, duh!). Always ask about unadvertised specials. When I was there Stila was running a special and I snagged a full size bronzer and illuminating powder for a mere $10. They are a "only while supplies last" kind of deal so ask early, and often. Another little known (overlooked, perhaps?) fact is that the associates will make you up samples of different products if you ask. Want to try the new Philosophy eye cream? Just ask. Undecided about a new scent? Get a sample to go. If you should splurge on a full size anything and it doesn't work out. Bring it back. I have never had a problem with returns--matter of fact, I was in there to exchange a Sephora brand makeup brush which they did with absolutely no hassle (and sans receipt). Perhaps I have always been lucky in my Sephora endeavors. Perhaps my fellow yelpers have been not-so-lucky, but I would (and do) recommend this Sephora in a heartbeat. So go forth and get gorgeous. Disorganized mess. Dirty store. Zero cust service. I walked around for 15 -20 minutes with a full basket looking for a certain highlighter. You would think that an associate would approach with a smile or at least a warm welcome. NOTHING. My makeup wasn't caked on so maybe that's why I was ignored?? I had to go up to the side of the cash register to ask about the product bc the girls working the floor clearly didn't want to be bothered on a Sunday afternoon. The register girl's tone and body language was very dismissive. She didnt even bother to look up when she said the highlighter was "in the front". At that point I was done. I love that safety is a priority during COVID-19. I haven't shopped here in awhile but have noticed a decline in their staff's knowledge of products. It seems when Sephora was new to the cosmetic game they hired/trained individuals knowledgeable or made them knowledgeable to the products being sold...Now it just seems bodies are needed to feel the space. I cannot get over how terrible the customer service is at this location. Came in and there was about 10 people in the store with almost the same amount of employees, including cashier clerks. I grabbed a basket right away, like I always do, because I was planning on spending a good amount of money. Normally when I go to Sephora I know exactly what I need and do a grab and go. This time however I needed help cause I wasn't sure of what I needed. I was in the store for over 40 minutes, testing product over product, finding some things but with not even a hello from ANY associate. The most they said to me was "excuse me." I had at least 300 dollars worth of product in my basket when I overheard an associate speak down to another co worker. It just left a bad taste in my mouth and had to leave. The benefit brow area had misusing products, even the display items were missing. The Too Faced area was filthy with product spilled and rubbed on the counters and display products. Ohhhh, Sephora. You're a spicy little minx, you are. And that's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh?) I like it. :) Casting aside the fact that samples abound and there's a seriously awesome lack of pretentiousness in the employees, Sephora comes through for me time and time again. In fact, it was--several moons back--that this very Sephora helped me to find the perfect foundation. This, people, is HUGE. I'm very...pale. Very, very, very pale, fair-skinned, translucent, etc. While this plagued me from, say, the age of 12 until maaaaybe 15, I now do so embrace it. I don't do the sun. Consequently, I've got a lot less wrinkles than many in my age range, but that's a tangent for another time. ;) If you're gonna sun it, at least remember SPF is your friend, yo. Anywho, the massive downside of rocking out fairest of the fair year round? Finding a foundation that is light enough. I like to mix my foundation with a little SPF-loaded moisturizer, and I cannot tell you how many, many, many brands I've tried. High end, low end, customized, you name it. Always just a hint too dark. Just a little *too* obvious. Enter Sephora and the amazing sales associate who directed me to MUFE's matte foundation in the absolute lightest shade. Perfection. They always have it in stock (even though the little bottle lasts me for an incredibly long time) and it's my year round go-to. Love! Had I not wandered into the wonder that is Sephora so many years back, I'd probably still be securely locked in Foundation Finding hell. You won't find much of the low-end pricing here, but you get what you pay for. Sephora brings the constant quality and that's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh!) I like it. :) read more

Two stars are for the variety of things I can find in this store. Whenever I'm at Orland square I try to stop in and see if there's a new product I want to try. The last few times I've been in here I've been completely ignored by staff and have to basically beg someone to help suggest things. The last time I came in and talked to someone, she matched my skin with that "skin tone matcher" (her words) to see what my color would be in the Cover FX line. This makeup isn't cheap. Most everything in this store isn't cheap. But the girl had NO people skills. If you're going to have someone in a position like that, that is SELLING to your customer you need to be knowledgeable about what you're selling. And most people might say "oh it's just makeup"...those people buy their makeup at drugstores. If I'm spending over $75 for 2 products you better know what the heck your talking about and be able to make suggestions because this is where professionals and people who love makeup shop. I'll only be coming back if Ulta doesn't carry something I want! read more

You just can never say no to Sephora. Like a dog and fire hydrants, I cannot just pass one by without stopping in. (And dropping a great deal of money.) This Sephora is a free-standing location, which means it carries a lot more of everything. I can purchase my complete regiement of Lancome and Clinique cleansers and moisturizers, plus Bumble and Bumble hair products. The girls that work here have been my personal beauty heroines. They have helped me find perfect primers and foundations, showed me that I CAN pull off the Urban Decay Electric Palete, and got me hooked up with perfect shades of red lipstick! They are always there with tips and tricks, and of course offering to make you samples! I like the fact that I have never felt pressured to buy, unlike at the department store makeup counters. read more

I am actually writing this review for the Sephora Store within the Orland JC Penney store. There are actually two Sephora stores in Orland Square Mall-- one in JC Penney, and one stand-alone store in the center of the mall. Today, I purchased a Sephora-brand lipstick at the stand-alone store. When I got to my car 5 minutes later, I realized that somebody had stuck her fingers in the lipstick and cracked it off at the base of the tube. I should mention that Sephora does not seal their lipstick tubes at all-- no plastic on the tube, no sticker on the box to keep people from tampering with the product. I decided to go to the other Sephora store (in JCPenney) because I was already in my car, and the JC Penney Sephora was closer to where I was parked. All I wanted was to exchange the damaged lipstick for a new one. I had a receipt that had literally been printed 10 minutes earlier at the other stand-alone store. It's not like I took the lipstick home, used it, and then tried to return it damaged. When I got to the register, I was told that the Sephora in JC Penney will not accept returns or exchanges from the other store. Even though the sign says "Sephora," they carry the same products, offer the same sales, and even have the same posters on the wall-- the stores look identical...but apparently, they are different stores--who knew? I was told that I would have to walk back over to the stand-alone store to exchange the damaged lipstick. Here's the best part-- I have a broken foot and am currently walking around in a cast. When I pointed out that I would have to walk across the mall to get to the other store, the salesperson just said, "Sorry, we can't take it back." So in short, the JC Penney Sephora lost a customer over a $12 lipstick. It's ridiculous, but I refuse to patronize a store that won't stand behind its product. read more

Terrible experience there on two different occasions. First time the workers just stood there and did not even greet me. Took a woman to come from behind the register to ask if I needed help. I guess they assumed I was not buying anything. The second and final time I asked for help and the person said oh someone will be with you in a few minutes and she said the title of the position. I'm like not sure what that means because I know nothing about make up. Then she goes well I cannot help you because I do not apply makeup. This woman did not even try to explain what certain makeup does and what to apply first. I just went to the one in Jcpenney. Never going to this one ever again. read more

I then asked asked for a small sample of the product, and she claimed that she couldn't give me a sample. How am I supposed to know if I like the product if I can't try it out?! By far one of my best makeup places to go to. They are always fully stocked and the employees are always willing to help you. I have been here many times and will be going there for many more. I've given this store three chances since it opened and my last visit just yesterday was disappointment #3. The staff never once recognized me on either visit (I could've walked out with a whole new makeup bag and they wouldn't have noticed.) The staff is excessivley snobby; I'm talking total lack of eye contact, nothing like the people who work at the Oakbrook Terrace or Water Tower stores, and they don't really know anything about the products (I actually answered some questions that a customer had about a particular product line after a store associate had already 'helped' her.) I normally love Sephora, but I'd rather spend my money at another location, or better yet, Ulta. read more

It is true that this store is dusty. Some of the products are getting used as testors and then get put back on the shelves. However, I disagree with the description of the staff. My daughter and I went in two weeks ago and two of the ladies couldn't be more helpful. Both women were over forty, and were patient and knew alot about the products. I am not the type of person to give bad yelp reviews but I couldn't allow myself to stay quiet about the experience I had today with an employee at this Sephora location. I'll start off by stating that I am a licensed cosmetologist and work in the beauty industry myself, so I understand that some reviews can be damaging towards the employee and his or her career. Having said that, I will keep this employees name confidential, as I am not trying to personally attack her but feel the need to let all of you know about my bad experience. As a makeup lover, I visit my local sephora on a bi-monthly basis and in the 10 years I've been visiting I have yet to encounter an employee that was as disrespectful as the one working today. It all started when I approached the NARS counter to repurchase my concealer that I have been using for months now, the employee was leaning up against the counter with another customer having a conversation about something other than the makeup they were blocking. I said "excuse me, I'm sorry I just need to grab something really quick," expecting them to respectfully move over since they were just using that area to converse with each other, but NO- both of them just stared at me like I had 3 heads. After I realized they weren't going to move over for the 5 seconds it would take to grab my item, I reached my arm through the two of them and grabbed my concealer so I could be on my way. Realizing I had grabbed the wrong shade, I reached my arm through a second time to grab the correct one, apologizing once again for being in the way. The employee says to me "ummm, could you maybe wait like 5 seconds until were finished?" I was absolutely stunned that something so rude could come out of her mouth. Wait for what? You to finish your conversation about your Saturday night? Absolutely not. I'm sorry, I am a paying customer and have been for 10+ years now and refuse to be treated with the amount of disrespect that she did today. It irks me to know that people can hold down a job with an attitude like hers, when there are plenty of people who are unemployed that would love to have her job and hold it at a much higher standard than she does. Hopefully the company will realize she is not someone that should be representing them and send her on her merry way. This is 2015, we should not have to deal with receiving terrible customer service due to the amount of people looking for jobs. That being said, I will now be going to the Sephora inside JcPenny so I can be treated how a paying customer SHOULD BE treated. read more
