The perfume I wanted to sample was out and I asked the salesperson for a new sample. I waited by the stock door for 20 mins bc they never came back and kept asking everyone where it was. She was too cowardly to tell me herself I guess but instead of bringing out a new sample for all to try, she brought the biggest and most expensive size of the perfume under my name to the counter, so I could Skene $160 on a perfume I had never smelled. I love this Sephora. I'm always greeted when I come in and they are very helpful, even when they get extremely busy. Yesterday, I had the experience of getting my makeup done here for the first time. I booked with a local MUA and she canceled on me a month out from my high school class reunion but Sephora was my saving grace. I was hesitant because I heard some people saying they didn't like how their makeup looked when they got it done there. I had no choice but to trust them because everyone else was booked up or overly expensive. Sephora fit my budget because all you have to do is spend at least $50 and they will do your makeup. Andrea did such an amazing job on my face. It looked 10 times better than the photo I gave her to base my look off of. I'm so happy with the service and she knew exactly what she was doing. Dirty!!!! I know that all Sephoras get hit hard on weekends, but this one seemed covered in filth on every display. When an associate helped me, she was very nice but clearly didn't know the YSL products. She opened a lipstick to help find what i was looking for, dropped it accidentally, and then..put it back on the display. I hope she reconsidered after she saw my face. Ugh- i feel bad for whoever may buy that because the floor was full of dust & dirt. I ended up searching online for what I needed. Many displays, in addition to being smeared with product and dirty fingerprints..not makeup, but grime, were not maintained- disorganized in terms of finding the color you want, sorely in need of restock (hard to believe 1/2 the store was truly sold out), and generally off putting for a store selling things that go on your face. I returned an online purchase at this store and got store credit...then everything closed down....I soon realized store credit cannot be used online....and I keep calling the sephora hotline and am on hold for over twenty minutes each time and never get a real person...then I email cust svc and it takes maybe a week for a response. Then they want my store credit's card number and after emailing that then I get a response saying it will be another few days for it to hit my account. All and all it took 2 weeks and I missed out on a really good sale because of all this. read more

No greeting no eye contact no thank u have a nice day no nothing. The worst Sephora location I have ever been to. #1: they couldn't link up my purchase to my BeautyInsider account. So, they brushed me off and told me to call a corporate number to have it added. #2: I get home (and I do not live close this location or any Sephora location for that matter) and find that the seal on my product is open and some of the product was used. Love Sephora. Hate this location. When I walk into a store I expect to be greeted. That is the reason they have people standing in the front of the store. When I am able to walk through a store filled with associates and not receive a 'did you need any help', there is a problem. Especially in a store of this nature. The fact that there are makeup challenged women out there walking around with the wrong shade of foundation is a scary thought. Sephora associates are supposed to be people that intervene and stop those who know nothing about makeup from making a fool out of themselves. I cannot say that I would not trust the associates at Towson with making those decisions, because I have absolutely no experience with them. Why? Because no one assisted me. After the fantastic experience I had at the Columbia location, this just made me realize how much easier it is to buy from Sephora online. Everybody who knows me knows that I slap on my makeup in 5 minutes or less. Sitting for an hour painting a portrait on my face... "ain't nobody got time for that"! I love coming into this Sephora location when Alex is working. I usually have an idea of what I want, but Alex always takes time to show me different products so I make a more informed decision. He also shows me great tricks and gives good tips on how I can do my makeup in very little time, or switch looks from basic to glam, day to night. I've been to several other Sephoras and have only been disappointed with the limited selections in department store locations. So if you have to go to one of those def call in advance to make sure they carry the brand you are looking for. Sephora prices are high, so I only go there a couple of times a year for very few specific items. I'm willing to spend money on some staples like foundation. I have tried 2 brands of foundation which I love and have stuck with - both have lasted me close to a year each, and wear all day long. It's money well spent. For brushes, lip gloss etc, i stick to drug store brands. read more

The staff is great, and there is always someone waiting at the door to help you. The woman working with me to find an eye-shadow primer was very helpful, and immediately led me in the right direction (I had never used one before, so didn't know a brand to choose or anything). She was even honest saying which was her favorite, but also that she had never really been disappointed with any eye primer, so it was my choice (I chose the Too-Faced that she recommended). She also very quickly and clearly explained how to use it. The ONLY reason I avoid this place is the crowd that shops here is just so annoying. I've only been here a few times, and it's always a mob of girls/women clamoring for mirrors or products and literally butting ahead of you to smear a different shade on their faces to "try out". I was seriously reconsidering using my gift card here after reading all the relatively recent super negative reviews, but this is by far the most convenient location and I've been to the mall a few times, so I figured I'd try it out and bail if things were going south. I made an appointment online (via Google Maps of all things) for a deluxe makeup application, free with $50 purchase, around what I imagine is their busiest time (mid Saturday afternoon). I was very pleasantly surprised that not only were they aware of the appointment, but they were willing to accommodate me despite being almost 15 minutes late (sorry!!!). Sierra did my makeup, attending closely to all of my questions and concerns, helping me feel more at ease (it was my first time shopping at *any* cosmetics store and the reviews had me pretty guarded), working very patiently with me to create (& learn how to recreate) a super fab look, and offering some great suggestions for me to try later. I could not have been more pleased! I then spent at least an hour shopping around. The store is huge! But there are a bunch of employees wondering around; even with the store being crowded I had no trouble finding things and the employees were always happy to check if they had more inventory not on display. They were only out of one thing I wanted, in the end, but easily had it ordered and shipped to my house (with free shipping) at the register. Besides having a totally pleasant time there, I was impressed with the compassion of the employees. Being in a chain like Sephora I didn't expect much, but when one employee banged into a display case pretty hard the others came rushing to help her and make sure she was okay. The display and products didn't even come up while I was in earshot; everyone's first priority was her health and safety. Sorry Sephora, but this store needs to get in formation! I am a brown woman, looking for makeup products that match and enhance my skin tone. This store never fails to be out of something I want to buy. They offer to send it to my home, but who wants to wait 3-5 days AFTER you trek to a store. This keeps happening. Most recently, I've been wearing Anastasia Beverly Hills and Bobby Brown. They were out of the Bobby Brown shade stick I wear, and I went to Macys to get get. They were also out of a palette from Anastasia I wanted-- the Glow palette, eyes shadow palette, and numerous eye shadows. Just a few weeks ago, I was in there and fund a Nars lipstick and they were out, so I went to Nordstrom to get it. My goodness, does store management not realize this? Please order enough products! ALEXX AT SEPHORA Hands down he is one of the best Make-up artist in the area. I travel 45 miles just go to the towson mall to consult with Alexx. He is professional, friendly and well knowledgeable about everything concerning make-up. ( And he keeps his brushes clean) There has been times like this past week. I had to wait at least 40 minutes to an hour just to meet with him. He has an eye by just looking at you. He can pick out the perfect look for you. I dont even tell him what I want anymore. I just tell him to pick something. And the looks he comes up with are MARVELOUS!!!!! If you are ever in the area. He is a must!!! Most of them behave as if they are doing you a favor for helping you . They are snobby for what reasons I really don't understand . And if you need to browse and consider whether to purchase ... they follow you around as if your stealing but don't offer to help . I only come in occasionally now. I am a big fan of Sephora. For years I would just walk by and think that place is just to darn expensive. The truth is yes it is pricey but most of the stuff I have found is worth it. They also will give you samples to try out and make sure it works for you before you purchase the full price item. AIso if you purchase something and realize its just not for you, you can take it back with receipt for a refund. They have trained makeup artist on hand to give you tips on the products, most will actually show you how to apply it if you're lost like I was. I'm really a fan of the Tarte liquid foundation and the Urban decay naked palate. If you are a beauty insider every mouth or so they send out coupons for free trails on different products. If you are into makeup or just starting out. I would say try it they can help you! read more

Such a fantastic location. I go to Sephora usually on a regular basis just to look around and test and try things. (YES, I am proud to be that woman that samples everything before I buy something, so take a seat.) The diversity of products alone is one of the most enticing parts to venture in. The staff here is one of the most diverse and lovely group of people. They know when to help you, and they know when to just let you explore. No pressure, which to me, is everything. And believe me, when I need help, they all work as a team. If one person is unsure, they have no shame in finding someone who might know a little more detail, which I think is great customer service. I don't expect anyone to know everything about their inventory, because that's just not reasonable; and you can tell when one of them knows/uses the product because they get excited and love talking about it. Now, I'm terrible at remembering names - but my son does. I wish he would just sign up for his own yelp, so I wouldn't have to write a term paper for you guys. But he told me to give a big shout out for the girls there, because they deserve it. Soni, Pinky, Dominique. You gals deserve some recognition. Originally he just went in there to look for his cologne, which unfortunately you don't carry anymore (AHEM corporate, the Men's section could be a little bigger, Men love to pamper themselves as much as we ladies do.). Soni was the first to come over and help him play around with new scents. He said she was calm, collected, and a total doll. He wasn't sure what to get, so she gladly made suggestions and made him a few samples so he could try them out for a few days and pick the best one. Then, he asked if they had a product similar to something he used in the past to help brighten up his skin. That's when Pinky jumped right in and suggested the Peter Thomas Roth Prism Cream, which he instantly fell in love with. Side note: He let me try some, and it is AMAZING, and I'll be in to get some soon. We'll be back for the eye pads, Soni! Last but not least, Dominique took care of him at the cash wrap and made sure he got his VIB card situation straightened out (Even though he needs to just use mine because I want those friggin points Haha!). She also wrote down everyone's name who helped him so I could give this review, which is way overdo (Not just for the 3 girls I mentioned but for the whole team. I know how much a pain retail can be, and never have I once had someone there make me feel unwelcome or unimportant.) Also, I think it's important for everyone to know: they don't get commission for sales, they truly love hair and skin and make up, and need our help to go to the website and give them credit for doing a job well done. I love Sephora and this one is really big and pretty so it's my favorite to go to, but it's always out of stock on the things I need which sucks. I don't want to order it bc makeup is one of those instant gratification things, but that's just me. I've pretty much always gotten good customer service, but every time I shop in the skincare section and the African American older male helps me I always feel so uncomfortable. He is super pushy, instead of trying to find out my needs he is more like interrogating me and always tries to sell me the most expensive thing. To even get a sample from him it's a process into all of these why why why questions. Just give me my damn sample?! I think he is very knowledgeable but his approach is very off putting. I avoid him now when he works, which sucks because I have to drive thirty minutes to shop here. I just wish he would do better. read more

I'd have to agree with most reviewers. This is one of the worst Sephora locations I've ever visited. It's a Tuesday morning (11/22) at 11:39am and I stopped in to have the IQ test done. I was told that someone would assist me in 5-10 mins and I said okay I'll stick around and look at other products to kill time. 15 mins goes by and I go back to the gentleman who originally quoted me a time to ask how much longer it would be. since my move here 6 months ago, I have been shopping at the Towson Sephora at least every couple of weeks. I have 325 points in less than 6 months. The staff has almost always greeted me upon arrival, but Ive had a few concerns/complaints. I was recently at the store to get a point perk product, and since they didnt have the product i was looking for, i was exiting the store. Then i saw samples of 0.1oz moisturisers kept in a pile (100s of them). I grabbed a few and was exiting, when one of the representatives stopped me. He then took each and every sample from my hand and told me that those were only for the customers- I was insulted in front of everyone present at the store. He behaved as though i had walked in to just grab the samples and then leave. Even if that was the case, (which is NOT), I am entitled to a few samples , according to the store policy. Many a time, ive also noticed the representatives being more friendly and helpful to the more dressier looking people. I think it is a discrimination. If all of us knew to dress like models, then we wouldnt be going to the store!! And also,most of the time, the reps more look like vigilant guards who are about to shoot you than friendly approachable representatives who would help you... I felt soooooo insulted that i doubt ill ever go the store again. I WOULD NOT recommend the store to any of my friends or family either.. It would take more than an apology from them to bring me back to the store!!! read more

I stopped coming to this location in particular years ago because every time I did the employees were so rude & unkind. Seriously it's ridiculous. So I go into the store today & per usual another rude & unkind employee interaction. The negative experiences I've had at this particular location is what makes me not shop with Sephora at all. Why are the employees so miserable & why do they have such terrible attitudes?! I literally was about to make a $300 purchase for perfume but my conscience wouldn't allow me to spend there after being treated so rudely by the employee in the perfume area.
