The only Sephora location in DC (and the entire DMV) that remains fully stocked and sells a lot brands not located in other stores. Like Prada makeup line and Pat McGrath. Which both lines are top notched and should be stocked in all Sephora stores. Their makeup artists are disorganized and unreliable - avoid this location. We had three appointments for Saturday afternoon. On Friday they called to say one artist was sick so they had to adjust an appointment from 60-30 minutes. When I showed up on Saturday, they showed me to the station and after waiting for 15 minutes someone came over and told me the artist had gone home sick. And the appointment that was supposed to have been changed wasn't. Go anywhere else if you need your makeup done. read more

Stopped in to find a specific item sold-out locally for me while visiting DC for the weekend and ended up having two nice employees assist me. One went out of her way to try to find what I wanted, and substitute other items when we couldn't find it. Another color matched me to make sure that the new items we chose were actually going to work with my skin. Visited this location for a full face makeup appointment. Located in the heart of G'town, this location is NOT the best choice if you're on a time schedule that puts you in the midst of rush hour. That said...my makeup artist was Seanelle and she was AMAZING!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE her. She's a brown skinned girl, like me, and really connected with all of my needs. I usually don't care if my artist looks like me but I must admit, being paired with Seanelle made me feel really good about the appointment (I should add that when I made the appointment on the website, I selected "any available artist," so I was fortunate that the system linked us). Anyway, I was late (see previous statement about rush hour) but Seanelle hooked me all the way up with the limited time we had together. I don't know how she read me so well to pull my makeup look together with limited questions but honestly, I was really cute! I am making another appointment with Seanelle for an upcoming event and likely for a future photoshoot! Shoutout to Todd who stole my heart with his kindness and overall joyous attitude. I was really disappointed by how nasty these ladies were to me today. I've been shopping at the Georgetown location for 20 years, and I was returning a defective mascara - the applicator was stuck in the tube. I was accused of letting it dry out and/or switching the box out with an older one since I've purchased it many times. I had a great experience previously, but last weekend I went in to get matched for foundation and concealer and had a poor customer service experience. The employee acted like I was an inconvenience. She was very abrupt and rude. She didn't ask if I had any questions and left me alone without saying anything. I wasn't sure if she was coming back; she did not return. If you come to this location GO SEE LONDON!!! She's amazing. Her art and skill is undeniable especially for her age. I have personally seen her client walk out of her chair in amazement and super thankful that they were able to become so beautiful by her hands. Not only is she great at what she does and takes pride in her work, but she also may have a line so you might want to call and ask for her in advance. This location is always pretty busy for the most part but you still get good service. I love Sephora. I used to make special trips to one of their early locations in my home state. But you can't get good, if any, service in them anymore. And this kills me, because even beauty experts such as myself need or want help sometimes. Anyway, this one is small, always busy, and staff seems particularly snooty here, though I'm not sure why, because Georgetown may be cute, but those of us who know good shopping can see it's basically an outdoor mall. This Sephora f'ing sucks! Not only are all the employees unattractive, but they are completely useless. I wish I could walk down a line and punch each one of them in the face. The fact that this Sephora is semi-big (compared to the one in Pentagon City, that is) means absolutely nothing since they will always ONLY be out of what you are looking for. Don't even think about asking for assistance because you will be completely ignored as if you weren't there. Luckily I know enough about makeup and am so picky and stubborn to know exactly what I want. A lot of times, I actually know more than they do anyway. Getting back to the point though, was I greeted when I walked through the door? Yeah, right! Was I wandering around the store for 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging me? Of course! Was I able to find what I wanted? Yeah, eventually...too bad they were out of the color I wanted. Did anyone help me find it? That's laughable! Once again, I find myself writing a review for an employee, not a retail location. Goes to show you - Service, Service, Service is key! I walked into this busy location for the first time intent on getting eye cream. My 13 year old dog was with me yesterday and although it was a short walk, the tiles outside were hotter than we anticipated, he essentially walked into the air-conditioning and made a home on the cold floor for 30-45 minutes right by the "Make Up Forever" display, which suits me fine as it is a favorite brand of mine, a lot of my entertainment friends use this brand on set. I love my pup madly and so as long as no one minded, I was going to wait it out till he perked up. One nice thing about where he plopped is that I was greeted by a lovely woman, Sephora employee Ahbeni. She had the most beautiful eyes and they were really well groomed, for example, I am good with make-up but in my wildest dreams I could not apply it that expertly, so I was intrigued to watch her do make-up on a very young sweet but kind of nondescript girl with very pale brows, skin and hair. (It did not hurt that Ahbeni refreshed my pup's lukewarm water with cold water). I watched her transform this girl's face with a very (seemingly) simple application of brow pencil and maybe some blush. I felt like I was watching TV as her application was so expertly done. She would absolutely be someone you would want doing your make up before a wedding or being in front of the camera. Really dramatic changes in a small application. I decided to wait for her and buy whatever she said to buy! She was very helpful getting me the creams I needed, I did not ultimately have time to get makeup as I was with a friend who had plans, but I will be back and buying from her. She said something about purples on my skin tone - which I have never done - so I plan to hold her to it. If you are getting your make up done for a special event I HIGHLY recommend. Look at her own makeup and you can see she has the ability to use make up well, it's tasteful and dramatic and playful enough to make a statement yet just enough subdued to be appropriate really anywhere. She's definitely the bomb diggity at make-up. Look for her Sat's (and other days?) Oh and Sephora? What's not to like generally? They have everything a girl could want, nearly. Wandering the streets of Georgetown, I was pleasantly surprised to chance upon a Sephora store during my walk down the main streets of Georgetown. Realizing that my skin need a refresh & re-boost from the east coast weather (which my face wasn't use to); I quickly entered to try to see if there were any specific skin care products to help me out. When I entered the store, I was surprised to see that the store looked so small for just their make-up products. However, after glancing around, there are actually hidden rooms within this Sephora such as rooms for consultations, skin care assistance, and fragrance rooms and even a full upstairs room for just skin care products. The staff representatives at this store were super helpful and gave us their full attention (probably helped that the store was pretty much empty except for us too). Products are well stocked and accurately placed; wouldn't mind this Sephora being my closest Sephora location back home if I could! read more

I asked one of the women who worked there to help me find a new foundation for my combination skin explaining that the ones I've tried get really flakey/cakey in the dry areas of my skin and oily around my T-zone. She talked to me like I was an idiot and told me 'it was just the texture of your skin, skin has texture you know'. I do know. Given the fact that I am from California, I am used to the BIG Sephora stores with lots of friendly staff. This is my go-to Sephora location in the DMV. For a couple reasons: it's close to my school and most importantly the artists here are always so accommodating when I need to get color matched as m skin tone changes throughout the year. A few days ago, I came in looking for a new dewy foundation and a concealer that would subtly highlight and complement the foundation. I got all of this, plus more. Kionna, the artist who helped me, was an amazing listener. First, she chose two different dewy foundation and put them on separate sides of my face. We both chose the left. Next, she found the perfect concealer for me. She esentially gave me a full face of makeup because she helped me choose a new setting powder, blush, bronzer and highlighter that all complemented my skin tone and I'm very grateful. Although, I love makeup. I'm no professional and makeup stores can be quite intimidating. Here, there's always an enthusiastic artistic who leads the way. My first trip into this location was to purchase my beloved Clarisonic Mia, and the saleswoman was very helpful. From reading the other reviews, it looks like some have had some hit-or-miss reactions to the people working here, but remember: often times, you will get what you give. This is my "go-to" Sephora due to the diversity of the staff and selection. I appreciate receiving ideas and thoughts from all nationalities. Great selection of makeup and brands. Staff is ALWAYS helpful and knowledgeable (Corey helped me tremendously today......saved me from my eyebrows looking like bird wings!). The store is conveniently located right on M Street and there is street parking. UPDATE: Went back to find a tinted moisturizer and powder. I was treated rudely when I arrived with red umbrella and given a bag to put it in without any kind of help and the sales person just staring at me. If I hadn't been vigilant, I would've walked out with no products. This is a truly horrifying experience for a Georgetown store. This is by far the worst Sephora. I walked into Sephora on NYE around 5:30pm asking for assistance with lashes. When I get to the register I asked the young lady if someone could help put them on (lashes take about 5min). She walked away to ask the manager, as she walked off, two other employees walked over and just stood there looking around. As the young lady comes back, she informs me they are extremely busy and will not be able to put on any lashes (according to the manager). While she was explaining the circumstances, the two other employees, jump into our conversation adding why they couldn't do lashes either. Which I didn't understand because they were both just standing around and not working. The one employee even rudely told me "if you want you can even speak to the manager and she can even explain to you why we can't do it". Of course I decided to speak to the manager. After waiting an extra 5 minutes to finally speak with the manager, Alexis (which I had to go walk to her, instead of her coming to me). The manager, basically attacks me verbally. Her attitude was very, very, VERY rude and all I asked her was to explain why no one could do lashes. I understand that all makeup stores are busy on NYE, but I would expect for a makeup counter to be fully prepared for the holiday season. Anyways, this woman continuously raised her voice at me, the customer. She got extremely loud, where other employees and customers got quiet and started staring. This woman continually, explained to me that she is closing the store in 30 minutes, she needed to clean up, and a bunch of other reasons that did not make sense. I have never felt more humiliated or disrespected while shopping. If a customer has a simple request, you should be able to meet the needs. If you cannot meet their needs, you should not become RUDE AND COMBATIVE! I will NEVER step foot in this sephora location, horrible experience and customer service. read more

I barely wear makeup and STILL find it hard not to spend a fortune in here! I cannot imagine what the experience is like for ladies (and the occasional gentleman) who apply their daily "face." Unlike other Yelpers, I've found store employees to be quite helpful. The manager let me sample a new kind of nail polish that didn't have a tester and other workers have chased me around the store giving beauty tips. I get it- they think they're experts- but some of us don't want a gallon of face paint. This Sephora is on the smallish side, but not limited enough to reduce my average Sephora rating. It's a great store when you need a little something special or want to kill time in Georgetown. Also, if you want good nail polish and aren't finding anything you like at Sephora, check out Cusp across the street. They sell Chanel, which makes some of the best polish in the world (le sigh...) read more
