On weekends, they sit here even longer. You're basically guaranteed a seat when you hop on here, even if it's a sardine car. I find it generally better to sit inside of the train while I wait for it to head to Jersey rather than wait for it to arrive on the platform. Creepy people have a way of finding me and this holds true in PATCO stations. If I'm standing away from the crowd, some dude will invariably come up and hover in my personal space while staring me down. Go away, yes? But anyway, this station has ample entrances in the vicinity and the payment kiosks always seem to work. It's a good and easy transport option if you're heading across the river.

DRPA (which runs PATCO) and the City have some lame arrangement where the City, not DRPA isn't responsible for foyers and exits once you leave the turnstiles. Which is to say, these are completely neglected by the City and are a public health hazard. The whole of the DRPA is set up to limit accountability because no one in charge other than the governors of either NJ and PA are elected. This has historically led to major problems of systemic neglect. Recently, however, the trains and tracks were renovated and an abandoned Center City station in Old City is being completely rebuilt. The system has no direct connection to either SEPTA Regional Rail or the National Transportation Grid, nor does it plan to.

Same as it ever was…read more That's the kind of the feeling that I get every time I catch a train at this station as I've been doing it since 198???, a very long time. Sure over the years things have been fixed up, upgraded and improved but at the core it's still the same old, now, 113 year old building. The future looks bright for Lansdale with a new parking structure coming that will increase the amount of available spaces by over 300 to around 900 and Septa is going to replace the area's traction power system which they inherited from the Pennsylvania Railroad that dates back to the '30's. What this type of investment means is that both SEPTA service and the station are going to be around for many years to come which is something that I look forward to as anytime I need to go to Center City this is my preferred way of doing it.

Loud speakers are built in and they notify you of arrival times. Close by is Snap pizza kitchen and Ardmore station cafe. There you can grab a quick bite to eat. The parking is fine. It can be a bit confusing. If you need to stay warm on freezing days they have a little tunnel that goes under the train tracks. You can stay there. It is usually crowded do come a bit early for a seat. In the summer time they sometimes have concerts in the parking lot behind the train station. If you have to park it may be a bit of a hassle, but it provides entertainment while you wait.

Due to a street festival my friend and I ended up at Wissahickon Transportation Center. They sell…read morethe Septa Key, which was something I was looking to inquire. If you want to pay cash make sure you use the correct machine one of them is cards only and the other one is cash or card. Was planning on paying in cash but use the wrong machine so I had to use a card. But it was easier than I thought to get the card and you can just tap it to check your balance. Have not tired the key out because I had a token to get ride but look forward to testing it out soon.

It's aesthetic is really bright and comfy. A lot of the college kids don't stand in the part broken off by the wall (wish I could describe it better) before the train comes when it's night. I'm not sure why, but if I was a tourist I wouldn't worry about it. Ohhhhhh yeah, it is a little dirty, but for Philly (and America's) standard it's actually clean.

You will need to get there early, especially if you're leaving NY to go to Philly after work on Friday. Expect for the driver to be rude to you, if there is any interaction at all. The 12:30 Sunday bus is a whole different beast: the return trip is mellow, the bus doesn't smell as badly (if you're lucky, the smell of pee won't even be detectable!) and the experience is less painful and potentially only 90 minutes if your driver goes at warpspeed..
