This is a disappointing Y. Very cramped and old. The pool was too crowded and unappealing. Was really considering joining, but no thanks.

The reason why I really like the Sequoia Y is because of Joel & Andi.

Closed? Went by the…read moreaddress in Yelp and on their website. It is ghost-town empty. There was sign with a barcode on the door pointing to a new location saying "opens August 1." New location windows completely covered with brown paper and a sign out front saying "this location is permanently closed." There was a door slightly ajar and what looked like people and possibly equipment inside, though I did not get a good look. I pulled the door partially open to go inside and had to let go because of a phone call. It looked like some people saw me. Took a few minutes to end the call, and during that time, I heard someone come up from the inside and close and lock the door. I called their phone number and no answer. Closed business? Moving? Just unfriendly? No idea, but it seems not to be a place to go. Save yourself some time and go elsewhere.

Since starting my lifting journey in 2019 I must say this is by far my favorite gym. It was exactly…read morewhat I was looking for in terms of being super lowkey but also having such a welcoming group of gym goers. Rich the owner is so kind and tentative and should be proud of the space he's cultivated. Vincent is also super kind and was great in welcoming me to this new gym getting over my first timer nerves very quickly. If you are looking for a space where you can go in and out quickly this is a spot for you. I've never had to wait for a machine. They have all of the essentials for lifting cardio machines and sometimes there's a cute puppy or two. Lots of well seasoned lifters here as well as newbies. Great vibe and place!

He has completely transformed the way I think about heath and fitness, something I have been passionate about most of my life but something fundamental has always been missing for me that has made consistency extremely hard and nearly impossible. Finally, I am now holding the correct practices, mindset and building the correct momentum to drive me to this being a life long journey and not a passing event, summer or moment. It's been 16 weeks and I have lost 26lbs and counting. Thrilled to continue.

What really impressed me is how intentional they are about matching you with the right coach -- not just someone with credentials, but someone who fits your goals, your energy, and how you like to be coached. I didn't realize how much that would matter until now, but the difference is huge. Every session feels like it's actually building toward something, not just burning time. If you're feeling stuck in your fitness routine or you want something way more personalized than the usual gym setup, I highly recommend checking this place out. It's focused, professional, and honestly one of the best decisions I've made for my health in a long time.

The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and has everything I need for a great workout. What really sets this location apart, though, is the staff. Every team member I've interacted with has been kind, respectful, and genuinely helpful. They go out of their way to make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported, no matter their fitness level. If you ever have a question or need assistance, they're always approachable and resourceful. I especially want to recognize the manager, Taeyah, who clearly sets the tone for the entire gym. You can tell that she takes pride in creating a positive and welcoming environment. Because of her leadership, the staff consistently delivers great service and maintains a friendly, judgment-free atmosphere. Overall, this gym is a fantastic place to work out, whether you're just starting your fitness journey or have been at it for years. Highly recommend!

I've stayed with Planet Fitness for the last six month because I really like it! No gym is perfect, but here's my take on it. The Good: 1. The team that runs it is fabulous! They're a polite, helpful, positive group. 2. The facilities are clean and well taken care off. All the equipment looks new. I haven't seen a single piece of broken equipment. The team is constantly cleaning, and it shows. 3. It's a nice vibe. People always wipe down equipment after they're done. I didn't see that much when I was at 24 Hour Fitness or the Bay Club. 4. The dues are dirt cheap. $30 a month includes the Black Card amenities like massage beds. That said, here's the Bad: 1. No pool or sauna - That's fine for me, but if you like those then this gym isn't for you. 2. No group classes - Not my thing, so I didn't care. 3. No lounge - The place is optimized to get you in, get a workout, and leave. There's no area to socialize or get work done like the Bay Club has. I do miss that. 4. It's small - It's really, really small. Sometimes I do have to wait a couple of minutes for a stair climber (they only have four), and the area around the free weights is pretty packed most of the time. If you're ok with those four things, this is a great gym--nice people, new equipment, clean facilities, and a great price. I highly recommend.

The members and staff are incredibly welcoming and treat each other with love and respect. If you need a spot, help learning an exercise or just have questions about fitness in general, there is usually someone there with the knowledge and willingness to help. You will never have to wait for equipment like at a commercial gym. The gym is open 24/7. The equipment is constantly being updated and there are always new toys to play with. It is clear that the owners care about the gym and constantly invest in it. I've been in the powerlifting community for over a decade and can say with absolute certainty that if you're looking for a gym to join, I would absolutely 100% recommend this one!

Lemme just start by saying that if you're looking for a gym in the bay, steer clear. I checked this…read morespot out based on the reviews and some recs, but I legit had to do a double take because what I heard and what I saw were completely different. Equipment: If stuff isn't broken or bent, it just isn't there. I've seen gyms with half the space have more kilos and power bars available. Not to mention they have an entire area dedicated to machines that look like they only get used when the cleaners dust them off. I heard the owners have been promising more stuff, but nothing's come except a small ah set of plates. Facilities: Bathroom was straight up vile with a busted toilet seat. Floors are legit slimy, and I saw maybe two people tops wipe off their equipment. I asked some of the other members if the gym ever brings in a maintenance crew to clean the place down, but they told me the cleaning is done by like a family and kids LMAO Management: Day-to-day is run by this dude named Jostin (Justin?), but outside of my first visit I barely saw the man. Bro is either not at the gym or locked up in the back office. Only time I remember seeing him was when his doordash arrived. The other owners are barely in too, and I heard the main dude isn't even in state anymore??? Cost: Game time. Based on what I've said, guess how much they ask for a month. Two-fn-hundred without a contract, 150 for a 6 month. Place thinks is premium-premium but is giving vibes that make 24 look like Equinox. The members must love burning cash because they could do so much better for much less
