I'm a big guy and she was able to provide nice strong pressure. She did a great job of loosening up my back and stretching my whole body out. So far I've been coming to see Amy for 2 years, and I have to say that this is the best Thai massage I've ever been to In My Life. If you're really messed up you're going to come in for a couple weeks in a row, and she will suggest once every 4 to 6 weeks thereafter to keep everything moving together good. The 90 min combination massage was very invigorating and relaxing. The masseuse targeted all the right tight spots with just the right amount of stepping and hand pressure. The stretching movements of the legs, arms, and back felt like yoga moves so if you have hip flexors or lower back tightness, Thai massage is hot you. She was always ensuring I was constantly covered during the session. Women, probably be useful to wear bottoms like yoga or boy shorts. Whenever I don't listen to my gut feeling about a person, place or thing, without fail I get smacked in the face by karma yelling "why the hell don't you listen, damn it!?" Welcome to my Wednesday, folks. Gut: "You should really use that check that mom sent you for your birthday to get a massage today. You know...the one on which she wrote "Chaba Thai" because she was thoughtful and remembered that you said you loved your massage there?" Me: "Yeah, I should get a massage today. But gosh, now that we live in Huntington Chaba is kind-of inconvenient." Gut: "Don't be stupid. Drive to Costa Mesa." Me: "Gaaaaaah, there must be a closer Thai massage place." (Opens Yelp app) Disclaimer: Yelp, in general, doesn't lead me astray. As you can see, Serenity has a majority of positive reviews. I'll just break down MY experience and hope for the rest of you who enjoy the place that I was an exception. My call to set an appointment was answered by a woman who informed me she doesn't speak English and therefore obviously can't set a time for me to stop by because what I'm saying to her basically translates in her mind to "blahuitsfghdfgedyu 12? derghjfdaybug, English??" I hung up. Gut: "Just go to Chaba. Who lets non-fluent workers answer phones at a place of business?" Me: "I don't have cash. I'm lazy. I'll just drive over to Serenity." Gut: "You and I are done. You're going to do everything wrong today from here on out because I'm clocking out." *SIGH* Pretty sure the same lady who answered the phone was the one who performed my massage because although it started fine, it dissolved into moments of me asking her to lighten the pressure (not understood), telling her something wasn't comfortable (not understood) to finally pointing to what she was doing and shaking my head and saying "NO, that HURTS" Still not sure if it was understood. The whole hour not only am I contemplating stopping this lady, I'm bothered by the thin walls and the noise from the next door hair salon and screams/traffic/honking from the parking lot. Super relaxing, right? The manager Amy could see that I was perturbed upon paying and gave me a $5 discount and a business card with her name on it for $10 off my next visit. I can only say a 4 for now because I have one other Thai Massage experience. But the overall feeling afterward is beyond 5 stars! Tips: Hour and a half is recommended (wish I knew that prior!). If you're a person who does not like a stranger all up in your business, this might not be your place. 1) you have the option of being in only your underwear. 2) The massage and stretching involves your masseuse to be on top & intertwined with you. They offer swedish, thai combination, trigger point, all at different hours and rates. I think you can have a 2 hour session! WOW! The massage area might be way too comfortable and inviting. (I wanted that pillow!) I have had many other massages (some are reviewed) but Thai Massage/ Lazy Yoga is a different comfort. My weekly workouts in Capoeira involve things of the sort like handstands, one armed pushups and lunging into flips. Reflexology hasn't done much since I started Capoeira. My PT friend is bliss, but is busy and far away. He did mention "Trigger Points" to me, so that's what I searched Yelp for. Chose Serenity since there were phenomenal reviews. Here at Serenity, I had the pleasure of a 1 hour Thai Massage session at $50 with Ginger. She's quite adorable as small, elder Asian women get. She was accommodating and aware of my body's reaction to her touch. She adjusted when needed. She also enjoyed the fact that I was flexible in my back. She said It makes her job easier. And yes, I was down to my skivvies. I don't like fabric rubbing against me, especially if the massage is firm. I will definitely be back week after next and try Trigger. read more

Came here today for my first massage EVER and walking in the place was very clean you could sense a very calm and relaxing energy about the place. The lady in the front was very nice and soft spoken maintaining the tranquil vibe I was feeling, I filled out a one page form which I was able to finish in a minute at the counter which was such a plus for me because I hate filling out lots of paperwork. I get into the room and she says just leave your underwear on and lay on the bed and she leaves me alone to change out of my clothes, I left my yoga pants on because I came solely for my upper back tension. Wendy introduces herself and begins to massage me and she was very good at not only getting my very tense areas but my entire back too. She even stretched me out at the ending.
