I always get nervous trying a new nail place especially when I have a design in mind since I'm particular but from the photos I saw on yelp I felt this would be a good place. The salon itself is very nice looking, spacious and open. The ladies there are all kind as well. My mom and I just walked in and they had openings but they got busy quick so I would probably make an appointment next time. I forgot to ask the name of my tech but she did a really good job with my manicure and then I had another lady do my actual design. I believe her name is Chanel. I tried the hydrogel for the first time which was really cool. It's gel but it's as thick as the dip powder and they said it's healthier for your nails. I needed tips on two of my nails cause my nails broke off and she was able to make a nail out of the gel itself which was really cool. She filed them perfectly to my liking as well. I am on week four of my gel manicure. I am in shock that's it's lasted this long. They do an amazing job at this salon. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is a bit complicated. She never turns people away, she tries to make it work. BUT...sometimes you'll have an appointment that will get pushed out because of walk ins. my partner and I had an appointment at 12 o'clock. I was scheduled for a pedicure and my partner for a manicure. My pedicure began immediately. However my partners manicure never happened. She sat in the chair waiting for somebody to do the manicure for over 40 minutes. During that period two other customers came in and were serviced. These people are totally disorganized. When I came back for a redo, they applied the wrong color back onto my nails even though I expressly showed them the box and name of the right one. Your nails grow out healthy under them. Serenity Beauty bar only salon in CT that can do the Hydrating Gel!! I get these every two - three weeks in all colors. People love the "Cat Eye" nails! Great place for a pedicure, wax, facial or massage too! They do gift certificates too! Also a reward card if you go regularly. And you can get your own bag that's only used on you! The massage and warm hand moisturizing gloves that comes free with your manicure is awesome. Everyone who works here are hard workers and really care! Love Rose for pedicure. I am so surprised no one has written a review of their facials because they are AMAZING. I've tried four different facialists since moving to the shoreline and Serenity is THE BEST. The pricing is competitive but what sets them apart is how long and thorough and relaxing the process is as well as the results. I typically get one day of skin freakout post-facial and then I'm glowing for weeks. Serenity uses GM Collin products, which I had never heard of before, but now love and have actually phased out some of my tried and true Obagi products. I highly recommend Stephanie. I really enjoy coming to this salon. I've gotten multiple pedicures and today I tried just a basic manicure while my natural nails were healing from acrylics I got removed elsewhere. The staff was friendly and very delicate with my very short and brittle nails. I am very appreciative of their notice to detail and customer satisfaction. Every time I go to the salon, I either am taken to a chair with no wait time or wait less than 3 minutes and always offered a beverage. I've been Chanel's customer ever since I moved to Old Saybrook. Coming from New York, I've pretty much been to every nail salon out there. My nails were weak, paper thin and would never grow. Well, that is until I met Chanel. Since going to her, my nails are gorgeous, very long and very strong!! I get compliments on them all the time and people cannot believe they are my real nails! Have been going to Serenity for a few months now, have never been "wow'd." Went the other day and it was the worst experience-will not go back! The nail tech filed my nails so short, especially on the sides, it hurt. I then asked for dip polish and they insisted I get the hydrating gel. The nail tech failed to tell me it would burn!! it was getting so hot, and because my nails were filed so short, it was burning my skin. I asked her to stop, i didn't want it! and she practically forced my hand back into the UV light machine saying no, no, it's fine. She also said it's more expensive ok? which I already knew, but then she added on more expensive lotion and a massage. Before the massage, she even took my hair out of the bun it was in (without asking) and put it in a higher bun. The whole experience was shocking, she rushed to do my nails, and it was not worth $70!!! And they look so thick, very unhappy. read more

The staff is soooo sweet and I was offered coffee, tea or water. I chose the red tea which was fantastic. I was taken care of by Lydia and it was such a great experience!
